Re: 17-BIT Boss Would Love To See Nintendo "Own" The Virtual Reality Space

earthinheritor

Yes it would be neat but it would never happen. I love Nintendo but they dont even understand "That new-fangled internet thing". They havent even added simple functions to the Switch and the UI hasn't changed at all. People have been asking for folders and wallpapers since it launched in March 2017. If they cant even update a UI or have a proper party or voice system of any kind there is no way in hell they would get something as complex as VR right.

Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo's Game Design Prowess Solve Discoverability Problems On Switch eShop?

@JHDK I think the biggest issue is though we constantly see the bad mobile indie style games, the reskin of a reskin, somehow hit the front pages. For example, last year the Santa tracker was still appearing on the front of the sales page..in Feburary. Its stuff like that I have issue with. There are some truly good indie gems buried under mounds of mobile ports that are massivly overpriced and just terrible.

Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo's Game Design Prowess Solve Discoverability Problems On Switch eShop?

It's still pretty terrible. I keep seeing the same terrible indie/mobile port games hitting the sales and front pages. I love indie games but these are the terrible 5 minutes job that are reskins of the same games over and over.

Its new impossible to find the absolute gems. Hell, even AAA games sometimes just get buried to the point i didnt even know they were out.

Re: Nintendo's New Ring Controller May Have Been Revealed Years Ago, We Just Didn't Know It

@CoastersPaul I'm a massive gamer, every system, hundreds of games and been gaming for 25+ years easily. Stuff like this though just, i dunno, it cheapens them. the Balance Board made sense and worked great, labo was very questionable. But a plastic resistance ring just seems so odd.

I took the switch seriously because it wasn't really competing with anything and cornered the market. But this just looks cheap to me.

Re: The Witcher 3 Switch eShop File Size Revealed

@Tasuki Normally i agree that Nintendo is greedy. However, its likely they didn't set the price as they are are not the Publisher. Also, the amount of work needed to make this work on a Switch is immense. On this ocasion, the price seems more than fair.

Re: Sorry Nintendo, But The 3DS Really Is Dead Now

earthinheritor

@Pod It is pretty much dead though. Content has slowed to near nothing an the market is moving to the Switch. People still play it because even the older games are really good on it. I'm playing Fire Emblem Fates right now.

There is still no real competition other than the Switch.

Just look at the 2019 release schedule. Its either ports or old games or unheard of Indie titles.

Re: The Game Sony Tried To Silence Is Getting An Uncensored Release On Switch Next Month

@Rayquaza2510 What truth? Its in the damn article:

"Original Story: Last year, publisher PQube was forced to cancel plans to release Omega Labyrinth Z on the PS4 and Vita after the Video Standards Council Rating Board refused to classify the title in the UK and other PAL regions due to its sexual depiction of underage girls."

That's seems like a pretty good reason for Sony not to want the game on their system to me. If they dont sell the game people complain, if they do sell the game, the other side complain. No company wants bad press after a game like that has been banned due to that reason.

Same way that when Manhunt was blamed for murder most retailers stopped carrying it for fear of backlash. Sony made the absolute right call in this case.

Re: The Game Sony Tried To Silence Is Getting An Uncensored Release On Switch Next Month

earthinheritor

@RiasGremory But there's a limit. You can have M rated games sure but the eshop is already full of mobile phone style games boarded to Switch for several times the price to boost the number of games they claim to have. I love my Switch but just look at most of the weekly sales they have. I love Indie game but the store is full of garbage ports. That isnt a good thing, it make the good games so much harder to find because that's all they promote.

Re: The Game Sony Tried To Silence Is Getting An Uncensored Release On Switch Next Month

earthinheritor

@Rafie Ok..just want to point out its a ratings board issue and not a Sony issue like the click bait titles reads. If ratings boards like PEGI and ESRB dont approve it then it's damn near impossible to sell a game. If the game doesn't receive a rating no retails will even touch the game. Sony really didnt have much choice but to stop localization as it would have become damn near impossible to sell it. This isnt a Sony problem its the rating board.

Re: The Game Sony Tried To Silence Is Getting An Uncensored Release On Switch Next Month

earthinheritor

"The game Sony tried to silence" What the hell is that bait title about? The rating board had an issue with it an without that it would be next to impossible to sell the game so Sony just canceled the localization.

Also..yeah..it makes sense they wouldnt approve it and given that Nintendo is family focused im really surprised they are doing it. Kind of seems like a desperate move to get more niche titles on the eshop.

Re: Octopath Traveler's Switch Exclusivity Might Be Coming To An End

@Reignmaker PC doesn't win, neither does console gaming. Both have good points and bad points. PC's are high cost and high maintenance that require upgrades etc. But they delivery on graphics and frame rate. Consoles have lower graphics fidelity and a lower frame rate but they are fool proof. No upgrades, low cost, put the disc in install the game and it works. 100% hassle free which no one can say about PC games and if you claim they are you are lying. As someone that built his own rigs for years i know first hand that PC gaming is far from hassle free.

For myself i love being able to play what i want without worrying it wont work or worrying about upgrading in a few years. I have a launch PS4 and still works as good as day one. You could not say the same thing about a 5 year old PC.

Both have their intended uses and both do it well. Still shouting about PC master race is a stupid and childish endeavor.

Re: Octopath Traveler's Switch Exclusivity Might Be Coming To An End

earthinheritor

@Reignmaker Yeah..because that's all there is right. Hows Red Dead, Spiderman, Kingdom Hearts 3 and the countless other console games not on PC?
Also I will guarantee you that the PC that can run that isn't the same price as a Switch. When was the last time you used your gaming PC on a bus or while flying? Sure you can get a gaming laptop but thats really bloody uncomfortable to use on a plane and damn near impossible on a bus.

PC players aren't the master race, its just another way of playing a game thats it. That whole master race **** needs to go away

(That wasn't very lovely language - Matthew010)

Re: Octopath Traveler's Switch Exclusivity Might Be Coming To An End

@Spudtendo Only if at some point you over level like crazy. It's even a common issue on forums people saying there are issues with random difficulty spikes. I stopped playing because of that. Tried to pick it up again yesterday. I have 4 characters on chapter 4 and chapter 5 is now way too difficulty like, walk into a regular battle and get wiped difficult.
Yesterday i was in a low-level area where i was 20+ above the level of the enemy and he was still hitting me harder than I could hit him with good gear. I also tried the bewildering grace XP trick and all i get is negative effects just a few XP ones which hasn't been worth the effort. Now I'm forced to try an do the other low level stories in hopes of some cheap XP.

Re: Octopath Traveler's Switch Exclusivity Might Be Coming To An End

earthinheritor

Maybe they will finally fix the broken mess of a battle system. I'm sorry, I loved the stories, the music and the art style. But that battle system was garbage. The leveling was way off an so was the difficulty scaling. You could be in a simple fight with good gear at a higher level and still get floored by a low-level mob hitting twice as hard as they should be able to.

Re: Hands On: Getting Our Hands Dirty With My Time At Portia On Switch

@Aneira Minecraft looks like it designed for a child but has a huge following of all ages. Mario is also aimed at children but i know just as many adults that play it as kids. If it plays as well and its addictive the style wont matter. What about Stardew Valley? Looks like an old 16bit pixel art style an that game exploded into gamers hearts.
