Re: 15 Best Sidequests In Switch Games

@MonadoBoy The quest itself starts fine, but if I never see another black liver bean again it will be too soon. And if I do ever see one again then I'll be surprised, because they're so freaking rare

Re: Zelda Timeline Featuring Breath Of The Wild And Tears Of The Kingdom Spotted

They're sort of lined up with Zelda 1 and Zelda 2, which would support my theory that botw and totk are "remakes" of the first two games. First game, Hyrule is in ruins and we rescue Zelda from Ganon. Second game Ganon is reborn and we rescue an ancient Zelda who has been sleeping for thousands of years. There are a lot of discrepancies but the story was just in the instruction booklet anyway.

Re: Hands On: Epic Mickey: Rebrushed - A Fresh Coat Of Paint For A Once-Flawed Platformer

I guess a lot of people played this as kids, or with their kids, but I bought and played it as an adult. I'm not a Disney guy, I particularly don't care about Mickey, but the art direction and story seemed too compelling for me to miss, despite the middling to poor reviews.

It played like absolute garbage. And I love waggle! It was an unmitigated disaster and I got about 1/3 of the way through it before shelving it permanently. Maybe if I was a die hard Mickey Mouse fan I could have finished it, but the thing was broken. If it had been an original character in an original world we would never get this remake and nobody would care.
That said, with all I've read about this game so far, perhaps I'll actually double dip one day.

Re: Nintendo Live Threat Culprit Sentenced To One Year In Prison

cvrator

1 year seems pretty light, but I'm American and up until a few years ago we were putting people away for years just for possessing negligible amounts of marijuana. Potentially life for repeat offenses. Also our prison system isn't for rehabilitation, it's strictly for punishment at best and slavery at worst. We're not the most brutal country by a longshot but we need reform like woah. Most of our prisons are built to generate profit.

@John_Deacon According to some Irish beer company the distinction of longest video game titles goes to the Japan only release deep breath

But to be fair "The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past And Four Swords" is 12 words long and that's pretty close.

Re: Leaker 'Pyoro' Locks Account After Claiming Their Source Works For Nintendo

cvrator

@Xbox_Dashboard I'll grant you that there are some questions regarding the Blizzard stuff but your second point about a "bullseye" is a little strange considering all we know is pyoro's source is that they work for Nintendo of Japan. Beyond that he didn't even know how their own source was getting info so there's not a lot for anyone to go on. The source still seems pretty anonymous to me. Perhaps I'm wrong and this is somehow enough information to single out the true leaker, but I'm pretty sure Nintendo already knew this.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Define 'Retro'?

cvrator

From what I've gathered from the comments retro is "when I personally was a kid and there is no leeway at all I am the arbiter of all temporal matters," so that means that the cutoff is PS1/N64 and just by a hair because I'm 44.
That said, I think at least 20 years makes the most sense. Think of how we classify music as "the oldies" and ask yourself if you'd play Adele or Taylor Swift on an oldies station.

Re: Dragon Quest Creator Teases Possible HD-2D Remakes Of The First Two Games

@MinervaX I've got some bad news for you, DQ1 on the NES is about 100 times simpler than FF1 on the NES. I loved both when I was a kid but Dragon Warrior as it was called in the West back then is only about 20 minutes of gameplay with about 4 hours of grinding. There is arguably only one boss and one dungeon in the whole game. Here's a summary of the entire game:
