@rjejr The author worked for Nintendo Power in the late 1990s and mentions in the second paragraph that they played the original Metroid when it came out in 1986. I do agree that removing the minimap from BOTW was extremely disappointing.

1 year seems pretty light, but I'm American and up until a few years ago we were putting people away for years just for possessing negligible amounts of marijuana. Potentially life for repeat offenses. Also our prison system isn't for rehabilitation, it's strictly for punishment at best and slavery at worst. We're not the most brutal country by a longshot but we need reform like woah. Most of our prisons are built to generate profit.

I figured they'd do Symphonia first, it's a masterpiece. I'd love to have it playable on the Switch.

@Xbox_Dashboard I'll grant you that there are some questions regarding the Blizzard stuff but your second point about a "bullseye" is a little strange considering all we know is pyoro's source is that they work for Nintendo of Japan. Beyond that he didn't even know how their own source was getting info so there's not a lot for anyone to go on. The source still seems pretty anonymous to me. Perhaps I'm wrong and this is somehow enough information to single out the true leaker, but I'm pretty sure Nintendo already knew this.

@timp29 people keep saying this but how are you supposed to keep the anonymity of an anonymous source? Schreier has a long track record of journalistic integrity. If he says he made the terms clear I'm inclined to believe him until it's proven otherwise.

I love Chrono Trigger. It's the game that for my wife into RPGs. That said, while i'd love an HD-2D remake I really think this game deserves a full on 3D blowout.

@Synecdoche with all due respect that is over 25 billion paintings and I think that might actually be too many.

From what I've gathered from the comments retro is "when I personally was a kid and there is no leeway at all I am the arbiter of all temporal matters," so that means that the cutoff is PS1/N64 and just by a hair because I'm 44.
That said, I think at least 20 years makes the most sense. Think of how we classify music as "the oldies" and ask yourself if you'd play Adele or Taylor Swift on an oldies station.

@MinervaX I've got some bad news for you, DQ1 on the NES is about 100 times simpler than FF1 on the NES. I loved both when I was a kid but Dragon Warrior as it was called in the West back then is only about 20 minutes of gameplay with about 4 hours of grinding. There is arguably only one boss and one dungeon in the whole game. Here's a summary of the entire game:

@CapitalQ you act like they're running on the same engine or that you know everything about what's going on under the hood to get the games looking and playing the way they do. SMRPG also came out about a decade before TTYD. There's a lot more animation in the background of the latter.

I really don't like VI - the bloated cast and the magic system that made every character interchangeable in battle. The incredible first half was all I used to play back in the 90s. I usually lost interest after the world blew up. However, even a FFVI hater like myself recognizes Kefka as a great villain.

@OorWullie Usually when people post parody lyrics like this they get all weird with the syllables and there's no rhythm at all. You, however, have done very well.

@OnBeingHuman it's primarily because a couple of years ago they increased world height and depth by a significant amount. The game is just getting bigger and it just can't quite run on console hardware anymore, particularly on the Switch. Sadly it will never be "fixed" because it's outgrowing our hardware. It doesn't even run very well on PS4 anymore, but it runs fine on PS5. (The PS5 still has to run the PS4 version, so the software is the same) We'll just have to get more powerful hardware

@Serpenterror We got the Dark Souls remaster and it was excellent. I wouldn't worry too much.

@valcoholic it gets better and better as you go through it. Also if anyone is in the fence about a game that you have to play through multiple times to actually beat, note that this isn't really true. There's a whole second half after you beat it the second time and it's much different than the first "playthrough"

@Ryan_Again I also ignored it at first. I thought people were just hot for the sexy maid android. Now I own two copies of the soundtrack (without the incredible music this game is just a 9) and I've already preordered the Switch version.

@GamerDad66 I think it's a good way to go, personally. I love Chrono Cross, but it's really not much of a sequel to Chrono Trigger at all, and they are including Radical Dreamers, which I never, ever thought we'd get in any official capacity. I don't want people going into this, playing Chrono Trigger then getting extremely disappointed with Cross. Best way to go is to release this and Chrono Trigger later. (If we're lucky)
