Re: Round Up: Multiple Switch 2 Game Pre-Order Trailers Released

@Suketoudara YES totally. I experienced that before too when I used to have a ps4. It’s so weird now with the abundance of old and new games available. It’s utterly overwhelming unless I limit it for myself. I’m older and I remember back in the day when big games came out like Double Dragon 2 or Mega Man 2 and that was the only big game (at least in my young mind without the internet). That was the only game I would be playing because I couldn’t afford anything else and it made me really cherish that experience. Now there are no financial limits or limits of genre quality or anything. It’s too much. I know this point has been made before but I’m really experiencing it personally now so it’s different if that makes sense.

@Medic_alert Yeah mindful is a great word for it. I remember getting games in the past for multiple systems and then really only playing on one platform. Also I know that the novelty of playing portably is a big temptation. I’ve rebought a few games on switch that I had played before like Dark Souls. Originally feeling so excited about it but then I just didn’t want to actually play it much. I had already experienced it and it wasn’t novel or exciting anymore. I’d already slayed all the dragons and lit all the bonfires lol
I’m a switch 1/2 player only now but I still don’t want to go crazy and get too many games and then not appreciate them and just move from one to the next.

@Yalloo You are so kind and I have to say you don’t know how many times I’ve considered visiting there!
If I wasn’t in the position I’m in with two young children I would 100% be on board. I think it would be very hard for me to board a plane to leave the Netherlands really.
These days the only trips I can really take are to see extended family. I would really like to keep talking with you though and my situation might change some day so that I could come.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (26th April)

@Yalloo I haven’t tried that. I really enjoy weight training at home with adjustable dumbbells and going to the gym. To be honest with you I would not recommend using wrist or ankle weights with these fitness games. They could possibly put stress on your muscles and joints in unexpected ways with all of the movements in Fitness Circuit and Ring Fit.
Yes! I was thinking future replays of Dread would be a lot of fun. Especially with the map knowledge and understanding gained through a previous playthrough.

Metroid Dread - It’s definitely in my top 3 Metroids along with Zero Mission and Prime. I think Zero is still my favorite. I just wish I didn’t need to use a guide to get my next power ups in Dread. Too much bouncing between areas. Other than that for me it’s close to perfect.
Salamander - Even with save-scumming my way through this game is h e l l. So stylish and cool with the horizontal and vertical transitions. I cannot wait to play the Japanese-only Salamander 2 and of course the brand new Salamander 3 on Gradius Origins. Just, where the heck is Gradius V?
Ring Fit Adventure

Re: Round Up: Multiple Switch 2 Game Pre-Order Trailers Released

@Zyph Yep, I saw that too. I’ve pretty much switched to digital entirely so it’s not a big issue for me except for the memory space is going to fill up quickly.
Ring Fit Adventure trained me to go digital because I never wanted to take that cartridge out. Also SF 6 is a great game to have installed because you can just jump in and play a few matches before playing something else.
I do feel for the people that want all these games physically because I know there are a lot of collectors out there.

Re: Round Up: Multiple Switch 2 Game Pre-Order Trailers Released

@molkom Yeah absolutely. Especially right now it feels like a bombardment of excitement. I want to try to slow down my initial response to it all.
Like I know MKW is going to be so much fun and in reality that by itself could easily last me till DK Bonanza which would be the next big title I want. I have a list in my head that I would be proud to stick with but if I don’t I won’t beat myself up about it.

Lately I’ve found it way more rewarding to be a gaming minimalist than a gaming maximalist. When I play fewer games that I decide to play extremely selectively I can focus on them more and really enjoy my gaming time than when it’s spread across more games.
That said it’s hard to resist checking out more titles for a console launch. I’m going to be all over MKW but SF6 and Yakuza 0 are awfully tempting…

Re: Switch 2: All New Accessories

@Misima I got the standard case and screen protector because I had the same Nintendo brand ones for my original switch and the standard case works great. I’m assuming this one will be the same quality.

@Yalloo I’m glad you’ve enjoyed your time with Tropical Freeze! It’s on my to-play-list. It’d be neat to complete it before playing Bonanza to see what call backs they make to it!
Nice warning about Trombone Champs. I’ve been curious about it but I think I’ll just give it a pass.

I’m finishing up Mario Odyssey and I can see the through line from it to Mario Wonder. It’s weird and very random! I’ve enjoyed it immensely.
I will be starting Mario Galaxy next.

All the Switch 2 news has been very dramatic especially here in the U.S. I’m hoping I can secure one for launch but if I can’t it’s no biggie. I’m still looking forward to Metroid Prime 4 and Salamander 3 on my og switch.
There will be plenty of time to play Mario Kart and Donkey Kong and Elden Ring in the future. I’m more concerned that my kiddo feels special on his upcoming birthday anyway.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Direct: Time, Where To Watch, What To Expect

Where I live this is basically in the dead of the night so I’m going to go to sleep and catch up in the morning. If preorders go live then my friend is going to get one for me.
I’m so excited to see what a new generation 3d Mario game could look like! They keep getting weirder and weirder every time!
I’m also super hyped for Mario Kart 9 and Metroid Prime 4!
Those would be the 3 I hope to play at launch.
Other than those what I personally really want is a sequel to Ring Fit Adventure or whatever form the next workout focused game takes but I don’t think it will be close to launch but here’s hoping!

As far as ports go I’d really like to play Armored Core 6.
Have fun watching everyone and good night 💤

I’m glad he’s letting you get some sleep.

Yes!! Odyssey is a great time! That game just wants you to have fun and enjoy it! Congratulations on the 100%! That is something I might shoot for one day.
With any luck we will get news of the next 3d Mario game next week!

I really wish that games like XBCX or Persona 5, etc had a 40 hr playtime toggle where the game would scale the time of everything (getting your skell or whatnot) to the smaller time scope and then cut out things that might make the game a lot longer.
Then maybe you could import your character and stats to the regular length mode (or the 40 hr mode if you started in the longer version) to do a second run feeling overpowered or with extras unlocked.
I would play so many more rpgs if they had a 40 hr playtime toggle.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (29th March)

I’ve been playing Mario Odyssey and I’m not totally loving the current world I’m in. But I know I just need to get enough moons to power the odyssey to the next world and whatever it is it will be completely different. All in all, this game has been utterly joyful to play. I’m glad I tried it again after initially bouncing off of it when it came out.

I’m also starting to get major Metroid fever with MP4 coming out soon so I think I may replay Prime Remastered… I just need to give myself a break and not scan everything because it just makes the game feel more obsessive-compulsive and less interesting and atmospheric to me.

Re: 50 Best Nintendo Switch Games To Play Right Now (2025)

Ring Fit Adventure is my favorite game of all time and it makes me feel a little sad how often it’s overlooked here and many other places. Maybe if there are future iterations of it that really take off then Ring Fit will be looked back on as more momentous than it is now.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd February)

Ring Fit Adventure: I bit the bullet and restarted my character so I can play through the adventure mode again. I think this is the most motivating way for me to keep up these workouts.
Skyrim ae: How is this game still so much fun? This is my first time playing the anniversary edition so I’m curious to see the mods. I haven’t had much exposure to them yet but when I opened the blacksmithing activity it was awesome to see all these interesting things added.
Yakuza Kiwami: I just started this but I’m loving the vibes. To me it bears a resemblance to Shadow Hearts with its humor, randomness, and mundane conversations and I love it for that. Although the original releases are about 4 or 5 years apart they are both ps2 games and I see that era’s Japanese weird game design in both of them.
Damn, if there’s one series I would really like to see get remastered it’s Shadow Hearts 1 & 2. They don’t need to remake anything just give us a modern way to play those wonderful games please.

I talked myself back from the ledge of buying an Xbox to play some older games that I miss so that’s been my validation to play on switch lol
I got the Castlevania Dominus collection and played through Haunted Castle Revisited last night. The graphics are beautiful for a 2D game. The work M2 put in is amazing really. It’s still an arcade game that can be beaten in an hour but I enjoyed it for what it is.
I’ve been wanting to get back into Skyrim after having beaten it a while back. I think the funnest parts for me were just exploring the open world and diving into the crazy dwarven mines and caves.
I’m definitely ready for the Switch 2. I really hope we get Fallout New Vegas or Fallout 4 and the new Oblivion remake on it.
