Keiji Inafune is one of the best known game creators in the industry, and a designer that commands a great deal of respect. As a result it's intriguing to see him create a stage in Super Mario Maker while citing some principles first formed in the early Mega Man games.
That's the idea behind a Polygon video in which we see Inafune-san working on and explaining his own stage. Naturally you can play it yourself be visiting the bookmark page below or searching for CourseID 780C-0000-020E-166A; it's not been played much so far, though the world record is under 8 seconds - crikey.
Of course, the comments section in YouTube is full of complaints about the ongoing wait for Mighty No. 9. We'll all be relieved when that saga ends...

So that is what he has been doing all this time.
He should make a Mighty No. 9 level, it may come sooner than his game.
Super Mighty No.9 Maker confirmed.
From the video it doesn't look that impressive. I guess I'll have to give it a try later.
Funny how he could finish a level in a level editor, yet he can't finish his own game. There, I got my Mighty No. 9 joke out of the way.
Careful Inafune san...your stage will probably be deleted soon.
I did and it's not very good. Doesn't say much for his level design skills or maybe he just wasn't bothered. Anyway, I expect most of the comments to make reference to Mighty No.9 and its problems.
@invictus4000 Too much like Mega Man is not allowed!
So if Nintendo make a Mighty Number 9 costume for Mario Maker, you have both him and MegaMan in 1 game....
GAWKS
these levels by these guys always turn out disappointing. i guess they just don't have as much free time as the community.
Maybe he should be worried about finishing his own game first....
These comments are already killing me. It'll get brutal soon enough haha
He called it megaman in Japanese? Interesting.
I went to play it but it said "Sorry this level has been delayed, please come back soon"
It would be funny in Nintendo "randomly" deleted this one. I'll be playing this level before that happens hopefully as I'm pretty excited to try this....
Just waiting until he starts a new Kickstarter to fund the rest of the level...
Why is it that whenever a Dev makes a game, it's either a boring, vanilla level that is 50% tutorial section (gives them the chance to be really pretentious and talk at length about how you need to "teach players to duck" and "make sure they know how to press the jump button") or it's just completely un-inventive? Or both!
Surprised he released this without multiplayer.
Mighty No 9 years later.
This may be the new Duke Nukem Forever.
"Coming When It's Done"
Where's ReCore!!! I'm just waiting here, waiting for what could be the best game ever... (--_-- )
@WireWare "Because if you don't do it, who will?"
You should check out the replies on Twitter... brutal! Bookmarked for later, thanks @NintendoLife
Maybe the delay is for simultaneous launch on Ps4k and NXtasy.
I got to the end of the level, but instead of begging for stars he wanted me to cough up for a Super Mighty No. 9 Maker anime.
Well at least he ended up releasing something.
The NX will be dead before Mighty No. 9 releases.
And the saga continues...
Please finish you game.
@FriedSquid
You just won the comment of the week award! And you get... nothing.
So, how much did he need to crowdfund to make this stage ?
And whens the anime comming out ? Or a dokumentary about his life ?
Watch it, MN9 is delayed for 3 more years with another campaign begging for yet another 2mil to include a stage builder.
Mark my words, if this travesty keeps going, we see MegaMan 11 before MN9 hits the scene...
This level wasn't too impressive.
I'm sorry, but I thought the stages with vanishing block things were horrible. Just one time, alright, but it would always come back.
Mighty no9 is soooo good, Keiji want to keep it for himself. Release definitely cancelled!!
The amount of complaints in this comments section would make you think that everyone here kickstarted it.
