Re: Nintendo Download: 5th September (Europe)

Isn't If My Heart Had Wings a free Android game...?
I'm confused.
I remember playing it for hours a couple of years ago before deleting it because it was so slow, boring and didn't contain one choice up until that point.

Re: Video: 14 Exciting New Games Coming To The Nintendo Switch In September

construx

If publishers got out of the habit of putting 10 year-old ports of last generation on the eShop for 30-50 Euros (instead of 10-15, which would still be more than for what they go on other digital platforms), I would love to buy those!

Saints Row 3, Red Faction Guerilla, Bulletstorm, just to name a few.

In September, it will be Ni No Kuni. I already bought it for the PS3 (for, like, 8 Euros, five years ago) but would buy it for the Switch, too.
But 60 EUROS?!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME??

I can buy the second game for half that price!

Re: Microsoft Reiterates That It Would Like To See Xbox Game Pass On Other Platforms

construx

This would make the Switch the ultimate console.

Why?

The versatility is already there but it's painfully lacking in the third party AAA category.
The Game Pass would bring exactly that to the table.

Not to mention that without it, the Switch will have zero AAA ports after the PS5/Xbox Whichever duo comes out next year...

The Switch needs Game Pass really, really bad.

Re: Conker's Creator Doesn't Think There Would Be As Much Noise For Other Rare IP On Switch

construx

I couldn't care less about Smash.

But let's face it, those who have multiple consoles, would surely like to play anything that looks the same, on the Switch, because only that has portability.

So if Microsoft lets Rare publish anything on the Switch, they would be their own enemy if they didn't.

Guys, we're talking about the hottest console of the world! Don't be dumb to ignore it! ;D

Re: Turok 2 On Nintendo Switch Doesn't Include Multiplayer

construx

For those who've only owned Nintendo consoles in the past 5 years:
this is sadly the norm nowadays.

The Master Chief Collection was released without working online multiplayer, Driveclub without much content, Star Wars Battlefront with only 4 maps in total and Gran Turismo Sport without any single player mode, just to name a few bigger games.

Of course, they added the missing content later so most of them look like now how they should've released them in the first place.

And that's the important part.

Do NOT buy unfinished games at the time of release and publishers will hear you!
They won't release unfinished games if people don't buy them.
Voting with our money is the only way they will listen to us - and believe me, it's an effective way.

Re: You Can Now (Unofficially) Run Android On Nintendo Switch

construx

Android - the operating system in a constant beta stage!
It's good for everything, it's not the best for anything!

I admit, things have vastly improved starting from 8 on high-end phones - but it's still a hard pass for me.

I'd tried multiple Android-based consoles in the past and I had a truly awful experience with the majority of them.
Why would anybody want to have a buggy, frustrating OS instead of a stable, working one, is beyond me.

Re: Review: Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble - Finally, A True Successor To Advance Wars Emerges

construx

I'm playing the demo and I'm very, very, very impressed.
So far, this game looks and plays exactly how Advance Wars would/should in this decade.

I'm pretty sure I'll be buying the full game when I'm done with the demo.

One question: why can't I shoot an enemy before I move my unit?
I don't know if it's a bug or is it intentional or I'm just doing something wrong but it's very weird that I can't do such a simple thing. (And I certainly could do it in AW.)
I'd appreciate any help from those who are playing the demo or the game.
Thanks!

Re: Nintendo Wants The Switch Business To Continue For As Long As Possible

construx

We're doomed.
The next one will be the last significant year in the Switch's life.

I love playing my AAA games on the go as the next guy but those are rare right now.
When the PS5 and the Xbox Whatever gets released next year, the Switch won't have ports anymore. And seeing Nintendo's approach to retro, we're still gonna be at SNES games instead of Gamecube.

So, unless you wanna play free mobile ports on a 300 dollar console, you'll be out of new games and exciting retro games, too.
Only Nintendo exclusives will stay and as always, they may be the best software developers in the world but that still won't be enough to win the console war - it has never been.

This will be perfectly fine for Nintendo enthusiasts but for any gamer out there who thought Nintendo finally made the ultimate console, it will be a sore disappointment.

Re: Super Mario Maker 2 Debut UK Physical Sales Almost Double The Wii U Original

construx

@AngryLuigi Kicking someone, how easy, lol.

I personally guarantee you I'd beat you in FIFA 90+ out of 100 games but yes, Mario is hard for me.
And since I personally don't know anyone who'd say Mario platformers are easy (as 5 cousins, we played Super Mario 3 every summer for years and never could finish it; my best friend also says they're hard etc.), Mario 2D platformers are hard in my opinion.

As a teen, I preferred Sonic 2 because there weren't as many death jumps in it and you didn't die until you had at least one ring.
Sure, I died in that one countless times, too. But I was still able to beat that game after months of trying and I think Sonic 2 was way more fair than Mario platformers until then.

Re: Super Mario Maker 2 Debut UK Physical Sales Almost Double The Wii U Original

construx

Story mode has been a huge disappointment for me so far.
Apart from the first course, I died at least once on all the subsequent 1-2 star courses and now I'm on the last 2 star course (where there are 3 doors but the last one stands on nothing so it can't be opened) and I literally have no idea how to complete it.

I know, 2D Mario games are historically hard (we could never finish Super Mario 3 on the NES as kids and I think I could only finish some retro Mario platformers a couple of years ago on the 3DS because of the added services, like saving everywhere, which I used after almost every jump near the end).
But this is ridiculous.

I've been playing video games since the '80s and sure, I might not be good at platformers but this game makes me feel like a worthless loser.
:/

Re: Guide: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For July And August

construx

Red Faction Guerrilla for me, after a discount.
The game's immense fun but it was free on Steam if you had the original version (which I did, and also for Xbox 360).

The sooner they take this mentality from them, the better.
It's a joke that we have to pay for the same game over and over again.

Oh, and the Spyro Trilogy later.
I've never played the PS1 games, only some PS2 ones so those will be new.
And hopefully worth waiting for half a year, not buying them on other consoles, knowing it's gonna turn up on Switch eventually, just like the Crash Trilogy did.

Re: Review: The Last Remnant Remastered - An RPG With Fine Ideas Scuppered By A Lack Of Clarity

construx

@Kochambra : is it an ignorant prejudice if I bought some of those games based on the good reviews on this site? And tried them? And found that they are ugly, not fun and ultimately good-for-nothing? And then left and never touched them again?

One of them was a game where you have to push different colored balls. And that's it. That's the whole game! And it got an 8 here!

Would you honestly say that that game is better than this one (with real production value)?

On a completely unrelated topic, if I gather my friends and film them with my phone, would you call that a real movie?

Re: Review: The Last Remnant Remastered - An RPG With Fine Ideas Scuppered By A Lack Of Clarity

construx

It's probably a fitting score - but then why are good-for-nothing, awful-looking indie games get a constant 8?
The review system is seriously broken.
This one might be an 5 for a real game and indies 8s might be for indies games. That would be a more fair comparison imho.

But I still say, you should indicate the price in reviews so people would know what to expect.

I mean, a 2 dollar 8 is not nearly the same thing as a 50 dollar 8.
It would be time to admit that.

Re: Nintendo Throws In A Surprise NES Game With This Week's Switch Online Update

construx

We should already be at N64 or Gamecube.
I'm not saying we should get those for free with the online subscription but we could buy them.

Next year, when the new generation of consoles come out, the Switch could quickly turn obsolete and irrelevant (zero chance for any ports of new games).

So unless we'll be able to play our already bought games on Switch 2 (the other consoles will be backwards compatible), Nintendo's weird paid online service+retro games monster will die before it has ever reached its potential...

Re: Phil Spencer Comments On The Possibility Of Xbox Game Pass Coming To Nintendo Switch

construx

Game Pass would make Switch the ultimate console!

In my eyes, it should've been that from the beginning, but Nintendo's approach to third party companies is still disheartening.

And then there is a ton of indie junk on the system nobody's asked for. Instead, we should talk each day about real, grand third party game releases like The Witcher III or the Spyro Trilogy.

With the Game Pass, we would have the best of both worlds. AAA games that we won't ever have otherwise and portability, too.

What more could we want?
Yeah, achievements.
Thanks if you'll ever do it, Microsoft.
You could be the company lifting Nintendo to the 21th century online space with real online services.

Re: The Nintendo Direct Presentation For E3 2019 Will Be About 40 Minutes

construx

@Park_Triolo After the new generation of consoles come out next year, there will be no chance of third party AAA titles getting released for the Switch anymore.
A portable console can only be as powerful as the previous "regular" generations.
So Nintendo either brings out Switch 2 very soon or will be left without third party support. Again.

And considering what they're doing with their back catalogue on the Switch (literally nothing, we're still on NES while we should be at Gamecube), it seems like they don't see that timeline or don't care or don't have any plans for the next generation.
Which is fine, the machine will only be 3.5 years old when PS5/Xbox Whatever comes out.
It just will soon be irrelevant.

But even that won't be a problem if xCloud will be easily usable on the Switch.
Then we will have the game library that makes a kickass console.
Thanks to Microsoft.

Re: The Nintendo Direct Presentation For E3 2019 Will Be About 40 Minutes

construx

@blecch : I bought the Switch because it seemed the ultimate console. The console which unites handheld and regular consoles. You wouldn't need another. You could have it in one.
If all third party AAA games would appear on it, there would be hardly any reason to buy an Xbox or a Playstation anymore.

But I guess Nintendo either can't or doesn't want to be so ambitious.
That's too bad. I still remember a time when they were.

I bought the Switch for FIFA, the first portable title with all the online options (including FUT). Not even the Vita had that. And I got what I wanted. More fun gameplay than on any other console. I enjoy it immensely.
Two years later, EA kills it.
That, unfortunately, predicts a Wii U-like future for the Switch...

Re: The Nintendo Direct Presentation For E3 2019 Will Be About 40 Minutes

construx

Switch is in desperate need of good third party games. (Instead of indie trash which we have much more than necessary.)

Even the ill-fated Wii U had more Assassins Creeds and CODs than the Switch...

Not to mention the sandbox games which are the most fun on any console. No GTA, no Mafia, no Just Cause, no Far Cry, no RDR, no Red Faction etc. (At least it has two oldies from the previous generation, LA Noire and Saints Row TT.)

And the (lack of) racing games, geez. Nothing good beside Mario Kart (which is also just a port from Wii U).
MS has the absolute best with the Forzas (+Horizons), but even Sony has Drive Club and Gran Turismo.
So, what about the best third party racing titles on Switch?
Any Project Cars? Dirt Rally? WRC? Need for Speed? The Crew?
Nope. None of the above. Zero. Nada.
But it has... mobile racing game ports.
Yes.
The world's currently most popular console has only that.

I think it's a shame.

I would say, I'd be happy to hear about a more powerful "Switch Pro". But frankly, what good would it do? Would the good games suddenly be released exclusively for that?
No way.
I didn't need the Switch to play indies in the first place so I surely wouldn't need a Pro to play them.

I just hope we'll have more decent third party titles. I didn't buy the console for the Nintendo exclusives.
It could be so much more.
