Wake me up when they add directories. My Switch games and demos library looks like a hot mess where it takes forever to find anything and impossible to separate demos from full games. Hello, Nintendo? Are we going to join this century sometime?
In Germany, where the age restriction label is unnecessarily big, most covers are made two-sided with the same artwork and everything except those labels that would ruin them. That way, you buy it and just reverse the cover to make it look good in your collection.
I imagine they could easily do the same in the UK.
We already have 1000+ garbage/indie games on the platform.
Now that it has a profitably high user install base, let the real, big, serious games come!
Hopefully not just EA but other publishers take note, too. There are hundreds of great games/series which would be fun to play on the go.
If EA started publishing their titles on the Switch, that would mean it has definitely a profit in it.
I can't believe Nintendo is still doing this nonsense...
The save games are handled by the cloud, the accounts are not tied to a piece of hardware anymore - so what's holding them from making this procedure as easy as it is on other consoles??
Before selling the console: erase everything; after buying a new one: login to account.
THAT SHOULD BE IT.
Most people don't hold onto their old console after buying a new one. And why should they? (They usually pay for the new one mostly with the money from the old one..)
There are no 82 90% games in a complete console generation, let alone in one year.
263 games in the three highest rankings vs 12 games in the three lowest rankings? Not very lifelike. Also not my experience on the eShop, the biggest garbage can since Steam.
I don't know if you respect the companies that give you those free games to review, too much, or you really think the eShop is the gods' gift to gamers but either way, your scoring system is painfully broken...
Performance issues are very common in games these days. That's why we don't buy games day one but rather wait for the unevitable patch to be released. Sometimes it takes one day - sometimes, one and a half year. (I'm looking at you, Assassin's Creed.)
So that will probably be sorted out.
Still, I can't help but feel that if this was an ugly indie arcade racer, inferior in every possible way to modern racers, it would get a much higher score here.
But it's only the best-looking racer on the Switch so far, so of course it gets a low score here.
Seriously, my verdict on games is being more and more the complete opposite than the reviews on this site...
Hahaha, neither The Last of Us nor even the first Sims 18 years ago wasn't this ugly.
If I want to play retro, I'll play retro.
If I want to play contemporary games, I'll stick to the ones that actually look like they're from this century.
Like The Last of Us (for which I bought a PS3 in that time and was totally worth it) or the Sims.
But certainly not this one.
I played through the first one on 3DS. It was over in an hour and though it was fun while it lasted, I never really wanted for more.
Still, if it's under 5 Euros, I might give it a go again on the Switch.
I don't care about Smash but I love the SMD Collection.
Christmas sales have started on other consoles already - but I guess this is still a Nintendo machine so sales will always be disappointing compared to.. well, anything else.
Not a big problem, though, since these were Switch's biggest weeks in terms of new releases for me. Civ VI, Let's Go, SMD Collection - basically countless hours of fun.
Again, Sega does what Nintendon't. They give us 16-bit games for a fair price.
My physical copy has arrived, I tried the game I'm most familiar with (Sonic 2) and I can happily report that everything works exactly how it's supposed to. (I've read negative things about emulation in this collection on other consoles.)
I'm gonna have fun with these games for a long time.
Now I only wish for an HD Megadrive that uses actual cartridges and is not made by ATGames. Come on Sega, do it yourself! Quality will bring you money - this outsourcing won't, really.
@Balta666 : that would seem illogical to me. Yes, they get royalty for all games sold on the system but that's just a low percentage. They would get the whole sum for all retro games they own. Surely a baffling decision.
But hey, I'll get the Megadrive Collection today, in physical format! At least Sega still knows what we want on the Switch retro front. I'm gonna be fine with that for months.
@Balta666 : I would gladly pay for the retro games instead of this weird mule solution where you can only play them if you subscribe to a totally different service and you cannot even own them...
Remember how the Wii VC opened with a 100 games across all retro platforms? How did all that get so crippled by 2018...?
This was a pleasant surprise. But considering the PS3 originals were going for like 10 pounds each physically many years ago, I'll surely wait for a (huge) price drop.
It looks like this racer goes to the direction of the Forza Horizon series which is obviously a good thing (if done right).
But for it to cost the same, it's a joke. It's a 2GB game. Even V-Rally 4 will be multiple times bigger than that. And the Forza Horizons, which are the industry leading racers, are of course 50+ GBs.
You just can't have similar visuals in such a small size. That's disappointing.
We literally have a thousand indies on the Switch. We don't really need more of those but we're in dire need of third party AAA games on the system so yes please!
@Cosats : I don't care about indie games that look like 15 years old browser games.. or old ports of real games that are still more expensive on Switch now than they were on other consoles years ago.. or first party digital games for the price I could buy them physically, so...
Yeah, I'm disappointed.
First party system sellers which are best in their category, for 50% off (God of War; Forza Motorsport 7), only 2-3 months old first party games which are also among the best games of the year, for 35% off (Forza Horizon 4, Spider-Man) and many-many other first and third party (not indie) games for 50-60-75% off.
That's what a great Black Friday sale means to me.
Very disappointing digital Black Friday Switch game deals, compared to PS/Xbox marketplaces.
I was waiting for real games discounts but I only found a lot of uninteresting indies on sale. First parties at 30% off are still more expensive than in physical form so... nothing for me.
But I'm not complaining, last week was Switch's strongest ever week for me, with Civilization VI and Let's Go, Pikachu! I'll be playing those for a long time.
30% off of digital games is not nearly enough to convince me to buy them digitally instead of physical.
Especially when I can buy them physically for approximately the same...
Meanwhile, in Playstation and Xbox Land, 60-75% discounts are flying on first party (and other) games this week.
This is the pinnacle of strategy games and it's there on a hybrid console to either play on TV or anywhere in handheld mode!
I literally couldn't be happier. This was my dream and it came through.
I would gladly buy the other entries in the Civilization series, too!
And Ubisoft, friend of Switch, please take note and publish the Heroes of Might & Magic series on this console!
I would be set for all eternity then. 8)

Re: Don't Expect A Game Card If You Buy One Of These PlayIt Budget Titles For Switch
Wow, does PlayIt still exist??
I remember them from the PS2 era where they were the shovelware publishers for the platform (with Midas).
Hahaha, how I didn't miss them.

AAA games?
YES, PLEASE!

So, go EA!
Re: Rumour: Multiple Online Listings Suggest Assassin’s Creed III Is Coming To Switch
I'd give 100 indie games for 1 new AAA title on the Switch.
For these old ports, I'd give 50.
The Switch desperately needs AAA games.
Re: Nintendo Issues Official Statement Regarding The Allegations Made Against Nintendo Russia CEO Yasha Haddaji
It's so good to see that there is a place where angry social media mob won't decide on important matters.
Even this page had published a seriously biased article without even asking the other side - which was shocking to me.

Re: Review: SEGA AGES Out Run - A Fantastic Update Of One Of Arcade Gaming's True Greats
In the age of Forza Horizons, this type of arcade racing game can only be a 9 to retro lovers.
I bought it on 3DS for the nostalgia but it wasn't there for me anymore.
Old arcade racers are thankfully topped by today's racers in every way.
Re: Looks Like Retro-Bit Is Resurrecting Sega's Switch-Like Handheld, The Nomad
I have a Nomad and it's awesome.
It was way ahead of its age - and unfortunately, proper battery tech.
Re: Review: Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition - An Aptly-Named Refresh Of A True JRPG Classic
This game is an 8.
A 5 dollar indie game where you push different colored balls and that's the whole game, is also an 8.
Rating system without a price range really doesn't make sense.

Until then, these are probably the best substitute games.
Re: Review: Gear.Club Unlimited 2 - Sluggish Controls Force This Real-World Racer Off The Track

Oh well.

You guessed that right. Zero!

Hahaha, I can buy the Xbox 360 Phantasy Star Universe for that price!
Re: Reggie: Don't Expect Nintendo Switch Online To "Mirror" The Competition
It's so interesting that a part of Nintendo is leading the innovation scene of consoles and another part is still stuck in the '80s.
I think it's time to let go of that part, guys.
You'd be doing all of us (and yourselves) a huge favor.

Re: Review: Gear.Club Unlimited 2 - Sluggish Controls Force This Real-World Racer Off The Track
This is a 3GB game that tries to do what Forza Horizons do, in one tenth of their substance (game size- and car selection-wise), for the same price.
Laughable.

Re: Nintendo Adds Three More Games To The Switch Online NES Library On 12th December
Don't spoil us, Nintendo!
I mean, who wants anything else from your huge back catalog than 35 years old 8-bit games anyway?
When the Switch will be 5-6 years old and irrelevant because of its successor, maybe we'll deserve some N64 or GC games, too.
But only if we wait patiently!

By far.
I didn't buy anything, of course.

Re: Review: SEGA Mega Drive Classics - A Welcome Stroll Down Memory Lane
Sega does what Nintendon't. Again.
There are no SNES games on Nintendo's own machine (what a shame!).
But Sega comes to the rescue for those who want to re-live the glorious 16-bit era!
This is the best value retro collection on the Switch.
This is how it should be.
Thank you Sega!
Day 1 buy, of course.
Re: Saints Row: The Third Brings The Full Package To Nintendo Switch Next Year
Open world sandbox games are the most fun!
Unfortunately, this genre is seriously under-represented on the Switch.
We need more of these.
Much more.
So, publishers, please prepare!
We'd like to play GTA, Just Cause, Mafia, Red Faction (Guerrilla), Far Cry etc. games on the go, too!
Make that happen!
And congrats to Deep Silver / THQ, whose game will be the first big third party sandbox game on the Switch!
Here's to hoping that many more will follow!
