Re: Deals: Be Quick And Grab The New Metroid And Super Mario Odyssey amiibo

chriiiiiiiiiis

In Australia, it's not too bad with amiibo right now. I don't feel any need to preorder any of them because I'm pretty sure they will be on store shelves at a better price eventually. the Metroid amiibos will probably be useful for Metroid Prime when it comes out so there will be continuous stock, Mario ones could be a bit rare but I'll take the gamble, and Goomba and Koopa amiibos are definitely not going to sell out.

Re: First Impressions: Running Scared from Sonic Forces

chriiiiiiiiiis

I personally have little to no fond connection with Sonic and even I felt this article was just coming across bitter. Like, get over the fact he is called Eggman. That has literally always been his name and this is a news site. It's obvious you have a lot of feelings about the games and about Sonic but you need to articulate it better because everyone is going to call you out especially when you insult something lots of people love.

Re: Splatoon 2 Nintendo Direct Announced For 6th July

chriiiiiiiiiis

I'm going we'll get a tour of the hub world and see the different shops, move into single player mode but not spend too much time, see online modes then get to hear how online will work in more detail. I assume it's basically what the ARMS direct was giving us a tour of the game.

Re: Random: Did PlatinumGames Just Tease Bayonetta For Switch?

chriiiiiiiiiis

NintendoLife didn't translate the Japanese as usual. I don't know how feasible it is, but they really should consider finding someone to translate Japanese since so much news pops up in Japanese like this that English speaking fans want access to badly. Either way one of the hashtags says "if you like Bayonetta, you can follow us" so it kind of hints that more Bayonetta is to come. That being said, this is the first tweet on their new account so they want to get followers and attention. Posting something like this is a very smart way to get that soooo... let's not get too excited yet.

Re: Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima's Approval Rating Grows 10 Percent

chriiiiiiiiiis

Iwata was a visionary and with that comes more of a gamble that can bring the success of the DS/Wii but can also bring the failed potential of the WiiU. Everyone could appreciate Iwata's love for Nintendo and his love of gaming but after WiiU's failure, Kimishima would be a welcome figure from a shareholder's perspective. He is a business oriented person and since the Switch's launch, we've seen Nintendo really push into the public eye again with a new look. It's hard to disapprove him. As a gamer you might not like his decisions and he seems like he's not going to try and be the friendly figure of Iwata out to the public but from a business standpoint, nearly everything so far points to that he knows what he is doing.

Re: Nintendo Switch Sales Surge Past A Million In Japan

chriiiiiiiiiis

Damn this comment section is a bit brutal. At the end of the day, the sales for Switch seem on track. Nothing to brag about but nothing to start worrying either. We all feel the hype for Switch is definitely way higher than WiiU and arguably 3DS so I guess it's a sign of good things to come but... well they haven't necessarily came yet so all we can do is wait. There is a lot of good stuff coming to Switch but it is still coming. Once it's here then I think you can maybe make a stronger argument to the people who are still against the Switch but realistically it's been only a few months and because of that, naturally the Switch still has a lot to prove.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo Switch is About Colour, Fun and Sharing Games, For Those Unsure of Its Purpose

chriiiiiiiiiis

I know this year's E3 literally just finished but I think next year will be the indicator of how well 3rd parties come on board with the Switch. It seems like lots of them have stated they are surveying the Switch still and after the WiiU, they aren't as open to just developing for Nintendo. But since it seems the Switch is poised for good sales and quality games that will attract a lot of games, how developers then come on board again after dropping some of their initial concerns will be interesting. If they know money is there to be made, I assume they will put in more effort.

Re: According to this Teaser the Future of Sega is Gazing Out of Windows Philosophically

chriiiiiiiiiis

I'm like this angle they are taking. The only thing is Sega has relied so much on their past for their current success. They don't really create many new IPs these days and are just rely on their existing characters. I don't really know how many more times Sonic can be made and they can claim that they are looking for new experiences. Either way, if something big is happening for them, I hope it is positive to the gaming community in general. Both new Sonic games look really promising even if they aren't really my thing and the Yakuza series is going well so they aren't completely lost I don't think.

Re: Switch Stock Shortages Cost Nintendo First Place In May's NPD Hardware Charts

chriiiiiiiiiis

GTAV is really amazing. That so many games have tried to dethrone it but failed shows how well-loved it is by so many people. It's the definitive open-world game it would seem for its genre and nothing looks like it can beat it at this point. I guess it's very against Nintendo's image to take a game like that on its system but I feel like if GTAV was on Switch, the sales would probably be crazy and it would be great to boost its reputation in Western countries.

Re: Streets Of Rage And Etrian Odyssey Composer Isn't Sure Why The Switch Exists

chriiiiiiiiiis

I think it's interesting that some people see the whole concept of the Switch as not that exciting while others are absolutely in love with it. I feel like Nintendo has just moved where they try to innovate with the Switch and they've definitely been preparing this for a while.

WiiU felt like a great concept with many interesting features but the games were in many ways, pretty safe. Only when Splatoon came out did I feel Nintendo bring something new to the table and the response it got was overwhelmingly positive so that could have been a wake up call. I don't know how many other games I would say captivated me as a concept last time around on WiiU but Nintendo definitely shifted towards the fact they are a game developer recently which I think they lost sight of a bit when the WiiU began. They definitely wanted to sell a concept more than a game library with WiiU and it didn't pay off. Since then, a lot has definitely been going on behind the scenes making sure the Switch hardware was new but familiar and adaptable without too much personality since the games are what needs to shine for it. So far Switch feels like a console that does what it does but the games are the real reason it's gained so much traction after the quiet WiiU years.

Re: Xbox Boss Wades In On Sony's Decision To Block Minecraft Cross-Platform Play

chriiiiiiiiiis

If Nintendo made this kind of call, Microsoft would have just said "Nintendo have always done their own thing" and it would have been brushed off. That being said, Nintendo would have worded it a lot better and not offended another company in their reasoning. Nintendo are known for being backwards but not offensive. I think Sony or the representative who said this was expecting that kind of outcome but then they insinuated something pretty negative so of course Microsoft would have to respond like that. Microsoft must love taking the high road and getting to show off how their gaming philosophy is better than Sony's.

Re: We Know There's An Appetite For Virtual Console On Switch, Says Reggie Fils-Aime

chriiiiiiiiiis

I think Nintendo either has some plan they want to implement or they are doing good marketing. As someone who has bought like one game for VC, not having it on Switch has made me think about VC more than I ever have. If VC was there from day one, I would not have cared or bought anything. Now that everyone is saying they want it, it's got me thinking about how I'd love to play some old-school Pokemon on my Switch because the fans are building all this hype on its importance. Nintendo know how to get my money really well...

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Sets Out Nintendo's Stance On eSports

chriiiiiiiiiis

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I'm pretty sure his job description is President and COO of NoA so... yeah.

But seriously, Reggie is good at his job. I don't know what some of you expect from him sometimes since everyone loves to bash him and how he handles PR. Pretty much everything he said makes sense in that interview and I never have seen a problem with him. Yeah he puts a positive spin on everything because he's the president of a company trying to sell a product and he doesn't make many exciting or bold statements staying in line with the Japan offices but is he supposed to do something else or something more?

If anything this article is twisting what Reggie said because he said they have been in the competitive space for a long time, not the eSports space.

Re: Video: Super Mario Odyssey Developer Diary Has Story, Gameplay And amiibo Info

chriiiiiiiiiis

I didn't think the whole capturing mechanic would be in the game from the first trailer but they really surprised me in a positive way. I feel like Luigi, Yoshi and the toads haven't been shown yet so I wonder if they are going to add another layer to the game already that we haven't seen ? The game as it looks now has already sold me but I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to see them announce another thing I completely didn't expect into the game! I really want to know what the amiibo does too because I understand tapping Mario will give Mario an outfit but then what about Peach and Bowser?! Still so many secrets!!!

Re: Video: Samus Fans Lose Their Minds at Metroid Prime 4 Reveal in Nintendo NY Store

chriiiiiiiiiis

You know how sometimes you see people who are fans of something but they are just too into it that it feels like you're looking into a weird, crazy religious cult? I was expecting to cringe and think that while watching all the audience going crazy for Metroid but I ended up laughing and smiling with them. Just getting so purely excited for a game you've been looking forward to is something I relate to a lot and even though it was really nothing at all to get excited over outside the title, that feeling of 'finally' felt really good for a lot of fans who have loved Nintendo for a long time.

Some people might not get that same feeling and be disappointed seeing nothing and I'm probably more on that side but I'm happy Nintendo did something to appease Metroid fans even though they weren't ready to show more.

Re: Metroid: Samus Returns Resurrects Game Boy Classic "In A Completely New Way", Says MercurySteam

chriiiiiiiiiis

I know for sure I am getting this and I think 3DS will be gone soon so we need to savor our last moments with it. The most popular franchises to the 3DS are slowly making their way to the Switch like Pokemon and Fire Emblem so 3DS support will leave when the 3DS fanbase see all the games they love on Switch. Bring Animal Crossing to Switch and I think that is when I will really feel that 3DS is no more.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's Big Switch and 3DS Reveals at E3 on Day One?

chriiiiiiiiiis

Overall I'm really happy but as the hype calms down a bit I wish there was something more. Both the Kirby and Yoshi games felt very safe which isn't necessarily bad and Switch actually doesn't have any 2D platformers that are as relaxing as both Kirby and Yoshi but... maybe I'm greedy? Both Zelda and Mario have shown big moves to trying new things and it would be nice seeing other games take that jump as well. I wanted to see something of Metroid to get a feel of it and even a bit more of a hint of what was to come in the Breath of the Wild DLC. I feel like ARMS and Splatoon will be really well covered then Mario will get a big spotlight but I want to know what's next to look forward. I'm sure Nintendo won't let me down though.

Re: Poll: Are You Excited About Nintendo at E3 2017?

chriiiiiiiiiis

I don't really care about the 'results' or whatever but I just love all the little bits of info that come out of E3! I'm so, so, so excited. Nintendo will definitely show off something new so whatever it is, I'll probably enjoy checking it out. Sony will have lots to show as well and I don't care about xbox but I'm interested to learn about the Scorpio. Good times coming soon!!!!

Re: Konami on Super Bomberman R Support and the Possibility of Producing More Games for Switch

chriiiiiiiiiis

Say what you want about Nintendo being super tight lipped and never talking about anything even slightly off their agenda, but companies who talks about the possibilities we are all thinking about but has likely no commitment to getting things done feels so much more frustrating... The fact he can talk about these things means in reality, there is nothing being done therefore nothing to hide.

Re: Playtonic Outlines Yooka-Laylee Improvements and Switch Version Progress

chriiiiiiiiiis

I guess in releasing it on Switch with everything fixed it will bring in some positive reviews which they didn't necessarily get the first time around and reviews probably won't be bothered to change their scores after the updates. I can't be the only one who wouldn't mind the 'non-polished' version of the game everyone else has now and then just update it later with everyone else. Sigh. I just really want to play it and I have my heart set on the Switch version

Re: Video: There Are Actually More Games Called Star Fox Than You Might Imagine

chriiiiiiiiiis

In relation to the article (did anyone in this comment section even read it and watch the video cause you're all talking about semi-unrelated things?), all those other Star Fox games look terrible haha. Sometimes it's easy to take for granted that current consoles have a fair amount of quality control (of course not perfect...) to keep out games that play badly. I guess phones are now the key market for horrible games along with things like online flash games and things people try to pass as games on Steam.

Re: Get an Early Look at the Super Nintendo World Attraction at Universal Studios Japan

chriiiiiiiiiis

Full translation of the tweets:
Wait a second...

Mario is at USJ but

Pipes and blocks and piranha plans are there...♪

It seems to be probably related to the Nintendo area's events

~~~
It looks like somehow the Piranha plant moves. Cute.
Behind the stage it looks like there is is some pyro (fireworks) equipment so it looks like it will become a pretty big event...!
By the way, if this is the an attraction for the Nintendo area, I wonder where the area's entrance and roads will be built.
Re: Pokkén Tournament DX Confirmed For Nintendo Switch
chriiiiiiiiiis
I know that it probably won't but if there is a new story mode on DX then I might buy it. The WiiU's story mode was average at best but it at least was something to interest me. If Switch's version is exactly the same, I doubt I'd buy the same game just to play online with people who all destroy me immediately and get some new characters... I actually really like Pokken though so it's nice other people can have a chance to play it.
The only misstep I really felt was that Gold and Silver should be released on the Switch, not the 3DS! I think that would have made up for no mainline Pokemon on the Switch and people could at least feel the nostalgia and have some fighting as well on switch!
Re: Square Enix Silent On Switch Dragon Quest XI Due To "Adult Circumstances"
chriiiiiiiiiis
@Masurao If you watch the live stream, it's really not a serious comment he is making. He basically is just saying when the time comes, they can talk but not yet. It would be impossible for them to not release it on Switch after it's been made public to everyone. Also if it was seriously not coming, they would make the topic off limits for their own talks and not write Nintendo Switch version in the description of the YouTube video. I don't think people need to freak out that much. xD
