Re: Microïds Confirms Six Games for the Nintendo Switch

cheonsacz

@TossedLlama Yup the story was pretty much finished in S2, but I somehow felt (perhaps hoped) that a third game would come. It took 7 years since it was officialy announced, but it came. The author's last game was canceled and he parted with Microids so there was even talk he won't be doing it, but in the end he did help with the game. I heard only bad reviews, but I never depend on what majority thinks - I make my own judgment after I will actually play it

The DS version was pretty decent, but perhaps because I played it over a decade ago (and literally knew what to do in solving puzzles XD) and I'm hard-die fan of the series. Sadly if I had to recommend a pick between PC and DS, PC would win. The DS version lacks any voice acting and the awesome music have been downgraded to some weird loop. It's also important to bear in mind they didn't customize the game for DS, they basically just made it fit into the screen so it's very low quality even though the touch screen function feels perfect for point and click. But the story and music leaves me in amusement every time. I had a better experience with the DS version of Paradise, because it felt different compared to the original.

If I had to use comparison then playing S1 on DS felt like when I was playing Myst on 3ds. Maybe it's just me, but the controls are somehow frustrating and makes the game quite hard to play.

If you don't mind playing games that are old and are not avaiable on handheld (just PC in this case if I'm not mistaken) Anuman (which Microids is under) published Still Life 1&2. Maybe you already played it before, but it's one of my favorites. And the Dracula series (both S1&S2 and Dracula series are out on mobile platform if you prefer it over PC).

Sorry for the long post. Once I start abount adventures, I can't stop:(

@Windy Although I'm of younger generation I love DMW too. I was quite shy getting that game at first, but I love RPG and Disney so if combined there is nothing to stop me from playing it. The voice acting is surprisingly well handled and the quests and collecting part were so much fun (no irony or sarcasm). I would love a third one with more Disney characters. It may look like a game oriented at kids only, but just because there's no 18+ label it doesn't make the game bad :3

Re: Microïds Confirms Six Games for the Nintendo Switch

I don't own Switch and I don't intend to own one (still too many unfinished games on my 3DS with still lot of new coming), but I've been fan of Microïds since the first Syberia game (and fanclub member). I love Benoît Sokal's artwork (I played all the games he ever made like Amerzone which is a "prequel" to Syberia, Paradise - both the PC and DS version and Sinking Island) and this is really great news. I have both Syberia 1 and 2 on PC and I'm getting the third one on PS4 (still thinking about buying the collector''s edition), but I strongly recommend it to anyone who loves click&point adventures. The story is very beautiful. I see people being disappointed calling it even boring, but don't judge it by cover or release date. Yes S1&2 are quite old games, but perfectly playable even today. I can't even count how many times I replayed the games like 10 times each at least XD I even played the first on DS XD too bad not even one for 3ds still glad they work for Switch .
Kate Walker and Oscar FTW ^^

Oh and guys come on. It's purposely named Syberia not Siberia. Don't bash the game if you didn't even try it

@TossedLlama I've been waiting for Syberia 3 since Syberia 2. It was very frustrating how they constantly kept delaying the release date. Kinda like FFXV

Re: Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Confirmed for 17th November Release on 3DS

cheonsacz

November is still far away in my eyes. I really love S&M. It might feel like a slap to the face, but it might turn out great. The trailer looked interesting and alternate story + new version of Sol and Luna? You got me in.

There is still plenty of great titles coming to 3DS and plenty I haven't finished. I'm getting PS4 Slim and I plan on getting Syberia 3 and DW9 (no release date yet, but localization confirmed) so I got quite the nice backlog for this summer.

Re: Nintendo Download: 23rd March (Europe)

cheonsacz

I just bought all three Ace Attorney games on the sale with 50% off. Always thought Nintendo games were unreasonably overpriced, but these sales off justify it. I prefer catridges over digial, but sadly some games get digital release only even though in Japan they are on catridges. Sadly couldn't get Corpse Party and RF4 as I had limited respources haha...

Re: Atlus Reveals Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology For 3DS

cheonsacz

If it will get localized in Europe and will be released as a physical catridge then I'm buying it. If it will be digital release only I can only hope it will get an acceptable price and I probably get it when there will be a sale off. Switch owners please keep in mind that although Switch is successful so far, there is still more owners of 3DS console by majority. And nowhere it is confirmed that the game won't ever made it's way to the Switch.

Not to mention that just because you got the Switch, doesn't mean 3DS owners don't deserve something new once in a while.

Re: Dolphin Emulator Now Allows Wii Shop Access and Purchases

cheonsacz

This is pretty cool. I think it is a great attempt to give people the option to actually pay for a game (no matter if they already own it or not) on an emulator. However I wouldn't use Dolphin. Not because of morals, legality or emulation itself. I just prefer playing "on the go" (and I think if this was for 3DS games, they would look like a crap anyway like DS games look horrible when enlarged in emulator) so I rarely play PC games - the game I played the longest (and legally purchased) was World of Warcraft that I playd for years. But I get bored of PC games easily so even when I buy and install some, I uninstall it quite soon.

Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Talks About a Potential 3DS Successor

cheonsacz

I will just copy&paste my comment on previous article on this matter:

YES YES YE!!! I knew it, the Switch is NOT a relacement for 3DS, this confirms it now <3 so I don't actually have to go for Switch, I just can wait for the next 3DS system :3 SCREW YOU 3DS haters

Re: Video: Mario Sports Superstars Trailer Goes In-Depth on Baseball

cheonsacz

I never played and never seen a baseball game since it's not a national sport in Europe. I also never understood the rules (well there was none to explain them to me) so I would prefer if they picked ice hockey or basketball, but I hope there will be a easy step by step tutorial so I may start to like this sport.

Re: Mario Sports Superstars Heading to Europe on 10th March

cheonsacz

Tennis is my favorite Mario sport (and the easiest for me to play lol), others don't excite me as much, but horse racing may be a lot of fun. I'm glad Europe finally gets something extra (earlier release) since so far all the good news were mainly for NA.

Yesterday I purchased DLC for Fantasy Life so this probably will be the next game on my list that I'll pick to play next. I'm just a little bit sad it does not include wider variety of sports, but I guess for that we have Mario & Sonic at Olympic games.

Re: Japanese Gamers Think Nintendo Switch Is Too Expensive, But Don't Mind Paying For Online Access

cheonsacz

If even Japanese thinks the Switch is too expensive, I see a hope in a price drop. After all in Japan they sell one small cup of ice cream for 8 bucks, heh. So they are probably used to high pricing so this is very interesting. 40% may seem as not big deal since it's not even a half, but japanese market is what matters the most for Nintendo, and if japanese are unwilling to buy Switch at the current price, what about the western market huh? Nintendo better do a significant price drop or interesting bundle and slay the market. Or the numbers may end in bad results.

So far most reasons of not buying the Swith I noticed were the price, not included game in bundle and mistaking the hybrid for a phablet.

Re: Guide: Deals and Pre-Orders for The Nintendo Switch, Games And Accessories

cheonsacz

@Ballzilla Oh welcome :3 When I pre-ordered a game it arrived on the launch date. They usually notice you by mail if the stuff you ordered is out of stock and they deliver fast and on time if you don't mind the prices. I wouldn't worry that much though - so far it doesn't seem like a lot of peole pre-ordered, probably because it's still early after Christmas.

Re: Pokémon Duel Arrives on iOS and Android in the West

cheonsacz

I already see people comparing it to Niantic's game ignoring the fact that those are two completely different games lol. Also microtransactions are a killer for me. I always say I rather pay few bucks for full game with everything unlocked than to pay triple (and more) the price with microtransactions just to get somewhere.

Re: Tank Troopers Will Blow Up on the 3DS eShop Soon

cheonsacz

I never was interested in games that resolve around tanks, but this seem like it could be a fun game. It all depends on the price though. With all the games still coming to 3DS and Switch on the way it will be very busy year. Though I think I won't get Switch until next year since 3DS still has a lot to offer.

Re: Mario Sports Superstars Is Getting Its Own Range Of amiibo Cards

cheonsacz

This is great news. Not the cards as I dislike these random things (in my eyes it's a cash grab when you can't see what are you getting and have no one around to trade with), but if they release it in March people who can't afford to buy the Switch on release, but will want to get a treat (consolidation XD) for their 3DS, will pobably get this.

@r4ind4nce Not so odd since this game includes a horse racing sport. You also don't see tennis rackets in Mushroom Kingdom XD but if Nintendo really wanted to please fans of Yoshi, they would made a Yoshis racing sport instead :3

Re: Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns Secures North American Release Date

cheonsacz

So no PAL retail release as well? Darn it, I realy like Story of Seasons as much as I love Harvest Moon. This is the sole reason why region lock should be removed. Because of this lot of 3DS owners are forced to use some exploit for homebrowser and use region unlocker. Nintendo would save us a lot of trouble. Thanks god they removed region lock from Switch.

Re: Capcom Has No Plans To Infect The Nintendo Switch With Resident Evil "At The Moment"

cheonsacz

@Jessica286 I did not generalize. If I did that would be saying Nintendo is losing ALL their fans, will 100% fail and presenting it as fact. Which I didn't. I only said the "flop" seems more likely now due to the reasons I already stated and that they are losing the interest of "die-hard" fans - those that buy anything as long as it is Nintendo related no matter the price or functionality. Not that those fans and other people interested won't buy the Switch.

Re: DFC Intelligence Believes Nintendo Switch Can Shift 40 Million Units by 2020

cheonsacz

@JohnGrey Couln't say it myself better (read all your comments). I see Switch as both handheld and home console, but I noticed people tend to mistaken it as a handheld-only (I seen lot of people calling it phablet for gaming, heh) rather than looking at both of their functions. Switch is the only console ever to bring and manage to connect portable and home gaming which is awesome. Sadly so far it has poor launch line, overpriced accessories and game titles and still lacks information that will be very important for a success.

Sadly Nintendo so far failed at most of their "analyzes", notably with Wii U or even in Pokemon Sun&Moon first two challenges that failed miserably. I think sometims it's better to predict less than expect a lot and end ultimately disappointed. Being realistic should be the right way in the business, rather than overly optimistic estimates.

Re: Capcom Has No Plans To Infect The Nintendo Switch With Resident Evil "At The Moment"

cheonsacz

@Jessica286 I was talking from my experience and from conversations with Nintendo die-hard fans that I personally know or I met over internet. I was not speaking from japanese audience perspective as I'm not Japanese, thus I have no need to visit japanese sites (if I could read japanese articles why would I bother visiting a NL?). I never said the Switch will definitely fail and I never said Nintendo is losing ALL their fans. You are a bit rude, but you are right in one thing... whatever you think, does not matter to me, this is a public article where anyone can comment and share their opinion.

Re: Dragon Quest VIII Begins Its UK Chart Journey in Top 20

cheonsacz

@H_Hunter Uhm I hope you are joking. The game is completely remastered. Yes there is no 3D (but who really uses 3D?). It's a like whole new experience even though it's the same game. And it could be worse, they could have sell it for $60, seeing how Switch games are close to $70. And uhm this game is not 13 years old, the PS2 one was. This is new

Lot of new features were added such as 2 new playable characters, new scenarios, dungeons and quests, alternative ending, new post game content, visible encounters, function to save skill points for later, quicksave function, new lines for voice acting, you can now also set tactics to your main and new photo function. The game also adds new monsters, recipes, weapons, costumes, equipment, more challenges in Monster Arena and lot more. Really people should try to play the game before judging it without playing and comparing to PS2.

@RatKing64 One? I can remember more like DQ Monsters 1+2 (remake), DQ Terry's Wonderland 3D, DQ Monsters Joker 3, DQ Slime 3, DQ Theatrhythm and DQ X I know except DQ X they are spin-offs and not main titles, but they would definitely deserve localization >.>
