Nintendo has released a fresh trailer that gives a little more insight into how Mario Sports Superstars will play, having recently confirmed its release date and amiibo details, among other things.
The latest footage focuses entirely on the sport of Baseball, as we see the likes of Luigi and Bowser pick up the bat in the hopes of a home run. The trailer details how we'll select certain shots and how much power is put into them, and then gives us a brief glimpse at character selection and how we'll be able to choose their positions on the field of play.

Mario Sports Superstars ships with a further four sports, those being Football, Tennis, Golf, and Horse Racing. The title releases on 10th March in Europe and 24th March in North America.
Who will be your pitchers and basemen? Let us know in the comments below.

This looks fun. Mario sports games are generally entertaining so I'll definitely be picking this up.
Can't wait to download this game! Perfect game to have it digitally, easy and quick to pick up and play in between my bigger single player games. I skipped the Animal Crossing amibbo cards, but I really want a stack of cards from my Mushroom Kingdom buddies.
This looks amazing! Hopefully, if it's successful it'll lead to a sequel on the switch as well with more sports!
I know why Nintendo is still supporting the 3DS but I kinda wish they'd just drop it. I mean they dropped the Wii U like a sack a potatoes. I love my 3DS but I really want to know how much software Nintendo can produce yearly once they focus solely on switch.
I wonder what games come with the cartridge and what comes on the cards.
I hope this will run fine on a regular 3ds.
If I can choose specific Sports to play, definetely I will choose Baseball but will NEVER want to touch Soccer (I don't like Soccer at all).
I hope the Daisy amiibo figure acts the same as the card.
I think I read somewhere that you can do sports online against other players. It doesn't have to be local either, if that's the case I'll def be buying this.
I want Baby Mario and Baby Luigi amiibo figures, not just on cards!! Kidding
the gam looks nice ... but why include tennis and golf while we already have Mario Tennis Open and Mario Golf: World Tour ? why not focus on an amazing football game like the one we had on wii and make a sequel or something to it ? i would love that !
will wait for the switch remake. i guess they didn't want to make another 'sports' game to highlight a new generation.
No surprise we got a baseball trailer, in Japan it's basically #1 baseball, #2 football (soccer), #3 everything else.
@Anti-Matter I don't like football at all either.. unfortunately FIFA is one of the biggest selling games in the World. Would have been silly of them not to include a football game.
@memoryman3 I read that only the cards will unlock the Star characters, but I really hope you're right...would be nice to not have to buy blind packs or pay scalper premiums on eBay (although I mained Paratroopa in Mario Golf: World Tour so I guess I'm stuck either way)!
@Anti-Matter Now, I'm the opposite. I'm excited to have Mario & Co. in a soccer title that has actual formations and tactics. (Also looking forward to more golf)
That's why it's good to have many sports on one cartridge.
Looks great, but since I can't enjoy it with most of my family and friends since it is on a handheld and not the Switch, I may not be dropping the 40 bucks for this too quickly. Doesn't make sense to make a multiplayer focused game on a handheld for what I'd play them for anyway.
Looks better than I expected.
So glad Baseball is included, it's a pretty fun sport for videogames and by the trailer it seems on par with other good arcadish baseball games.
@memoryman3 Sadly it's unlikely that the amiibo can replace the card, afterall Daisy, as all the other characters, will have 5 cards, one for each sport.
My team will consist of all the cute characters: Bowser, Bowser Jr, Boo (if you're allowed to have more than two main characters) Koopa Troopa, Paratroopa, Spike, Shy Guy, Fire Bro and Boom Boom. I don't care if they're the worst with their stats, I just think they're cute.
Games like this dilute the Mario brand. Why not release Mario Strikers? They have already released a Tennis game on the 3DS, so one would think this is overkill.
I hope this is good. Used to love some of the Mario Sports games, but lately they've been so threadbare.
Another Wii u port on the 3DS? Oh man!
At 0:26.
lol Rosalina.
I'll be getting this on day one
Looks good. I've been wanting a new Mario baseball game. The GameCube one is great, but the Wii one is kind of disappointing.
"with a further four sports, those being Football"
5 seconds into the trailer - AMAZING! SOCCER
Can't wait for this game! Long Live the 3DS!
Very, very good; ok, well, only 1 month more!!
@Henmii
This game never appeared in the Wii U..., not is a port!!
I would have loved a Uniracers game instead of Horseracing. Actually basketball or hockey would have been better.
I am so glad this is coming. I have been wanting a baseball game on my 3DS since I bought it! I still think its nuts that there hasn't been one for the system yet.
I never played and never seen a baseball game since it's not a national sport in Europe. I also never understood the rules (well there was none to explain them to me) so I would prefer if they picked ice hockey or basketball, but I hope there will be a easy step by step tutorial so I may start to like this sport.
@SakuraHaruka,
Hmm, I may be confused by a other, similar game (maybe). My bad!
Update: Oh, I was thinking of Mario sports mix, wich was on the Wii.
So happy to see some gameplay on this.
Most anticipated title of 2017 for me. March 24 can't come here fast enough.
Paratroopa? Kamek? Spike? Boom Boom? FRIKKIN BIRDO?!
Where are these guys in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?
Is it sad that I am more hyped for this than Zelda Breath of the Wild?
@Pod Aside from Birdo, those characters are not playable, they're only supports.
@NCChris
Ah, alright then.
Not sure why Nintendo bother making sports games, Nintendo fans don't watch sports. They'd rather hug their body pillows and watch cartoons that are meant for 5 year old girls.
@TheMONADO36
It's not about watching sports. It's about participating in them.
