Arc System Works has announced that it will be releasing new instalments in the Jake Hunter adventure series - known in Japan as Tantei Jingūji Saburō.
Data East kicked off the series back in 1987 on the Famicom Disk System, but it didn't make its western debut until more than 20 years later, with Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles (2008) and Jake Hunter Detective Story: Memories of the Past (2009) on the Nintendo DS, both published by Aksys Games.
Arc System Works has collaborated with IP owner WorkJam on several other DS and 3DS sequels, but the company has now purchased the rights to the franchise from WorkJam owner Expris, along with Theresia, Nazo no Jikenbo and Koneko no Ie. It is also remaking some of the previous mobile phone adventures in a new smartphone series.

Will there be a Wii U version?
This is clever of Arc System Works. Purchase dormant franchises from other companies to expand their portfolio like THQ Nordic.
I'm sure if it does, it'll be exclusive to NA.
I'm pretty sure that the DS games weren't released in Europe.
The only Jake Hunter game we've gotten is the one that was released recently on the 3DS eShop.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE time to move on.
Nice! I loved playing through the series in the DS version.
The only criticism I have is the same one I have with Phoenix Wright, where it's obvious the game is set in Japan but has been localised like it takes place in America.
I've never heard of the series but I'm interested in getting the DS game. I like point and click adventure games as well as visual novels. I just beat Another Code: Two Memories yesterday.
The DS game looks great. Might try and track it down.
There needs to be more smoking simulators in gaming.
This was in my backlog back on the DS, but I've totally forgotten about Jake Hunter. Maybe I'll get a 2nd chance as I too love point-and-click/visual novel games.
I preferred the Hotel Dusk series... wish they would come back.
Might be cool
@RainbowGazelle
That's the sad reality. God, I wish the 3DS was region free.
Oh cool, and I was just lamenting the fact that we didn't have enough detective adventures on the 3DS not too long ago. I hope it comes to the US.
@DWWM Are you referring to Chase: Cold Case Investigations? It's not a Jake Hunter game but it is related to another DS title: Hotel Dusk: Room 215.
I thought a Jake Hunter 3DS game was already released in Japan. In any case, I would also like to see it in English. Also, the continuation of Chase: Cold Case Investigations please.
@ollietaro Yeah, you're right. I got Chase: Cold Case Investigations and Jake Hunter mixed up...
Is this related to Hotel Dusk?
Yes, please. I hope if it comes to west, it won't be NA only and PAL region will get their retail version too (sorry can't bring myself to like digital after what they done to Ace Attorney)
