Misleading title again? Because what Mr. Kawai thinks the higher up at Nintendo said, doesn't equal to "Nintendo apparently told". Yes Nintendo missed a big opportunity and there could have been a huge misunderstanding as if Nintendo had rejected them, thus sending them to Sony, but there is no doubt that N64 was an amazing device and Square wanted something Nintendo couldn't give them back then (CD option). And maybe their parting was only for good, no matter the circumstances. Because now we are getting the best of our favorite niches on our favorite platforms. It's funny when I talk to friends that play FFXV and tell them FF used to be a Nintendo platform game. They are looking at me as if I fell out of a tree lol. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't believe me that's a FF game even if I showed it to them right under their nose.
I hope it's just due to translation, but was mr. Kawai implying that Nintendo would never be able to pull off a game like Final Fantasy VII, perhaps poking a little bit of fun at the likes of Mario? I just hope I'm understanding this all wrong.
I don't know if this is from the same creators or all Koi related games look like this, but I played a very similiar one on android and it was dozens of fun. I's so calming and relaxing and the music is really good. Perfect to play after some exhausting battle. So from my personal experience with perhaps very similiar game, I recommend it
Never judge a book by its cover, so I won't. Still I'm prepared for the hate and backlash for what I'm going to say instead of just staying silent and ignoring this article - I just don't like this kind of style and I'm probably in the very small percentage of people not so excited about the new Zelda (but since I know what Zelda gameplay is like I'm not so focused on the artstyle). I don't know why but it somehow bucks me so much. The game may (and probably will) be good even beyond our expectations on the Switch, but it still ticks me off somehow. Yeah right. I just said the same thing twice, but I don't know how else to explain how I feel about it. And I don't want to be the judgemental troll that anonymously hides behind monitor, hating on something I didn't even try yet. I think I need some time like always to get used to it. Actually I think those wild pigs looks pretty darn cute. And if it's storyline wise something similiar to Journey, I might pick it up when it's released for the Switch.
Interesting that my local store has still full stock even though Pokemon Go is highly popular here. And I'm living in the capital city. Maybe it has something to do with he number of population? On the other hand other less known stores have their "will be in stock" date set on around 20th March and some even still in January. But Mini Nes is sold out everywhere
Can someone expain to me why would someone want to play Wii U game on a smartphone? I may have misunderstood the article, but I don't quite understand it. I don't think it would be very pleasant not at least unlesss smartphones are as big as Wii U display so is it not just wasting of time by replicating the controller?
These kind of articles (nothing personal against the authors) in my opinion only add fuel to the rumours and the anticipation of fans is getting more and more wild. The sole reason why I dislike rumours is because in most cases they make you excited and anticipate something that may not happen at all in the end, so they only leave you with huge disappointment. No hate though, because hating on something is waste of our precious time.
@impurekind @NintendodoBird Wasn't it already confirmed that Switch is not going to have backward compatibility with Wii U and 3DS/DS games? I don't know how about the other systems compatibility, but Switch has only one screen while 3DS/DS has two so wouldn't that require the games to be completely redone for the Switch to be even playable in the first place? I'm not very tech person so I may be mistaken.
"the 3DS is heading towards retirement" you trying to make me cry or something? I know I know it's inevitable and bound to happen one day, but still don't crush my hopes like this ;_;
Great article though. You summarized it rather nicely
Now when complaints and compliments are done back to the topic and my constant blabbing. What I'm personally most curious about is the price. Let's be honest price is always important unless you have enough to spend on anything you desire, which is not my case lol (and probably not the case of most people on the Earth). I'm thinking of range between $250-$400, hoping for $250 (but not too much, because... disappointment). If It's more than $400 then it's a no no, well definitely this year. If it's $250 then it's a day 1 buy (not literally but close), if it's something between then maybe... birthday? There are other important factors as if game or anything will be included, how much the tax will be here and if it won't be better to order it from overseas store since local stores tend to be overpriced (literally).
I of course don't want Nintendo to sell a cheap device that will be laggy and lack any good specs, but I also don't want to pay too high price for something that might be less powerfull than much older consoles
All else I'm curious about like everyone else are the games. I don't need a strong launch line of titles straight away, that would blow my mind over, since I probably wouldn't buy more than 1-2 games for the Switch (for the time being), since I'm also saving for the upcoming 3DS games (and there are at least 7 I care about). But we will all know soon.
I was thinking more about interesting game ideas. I tried to imagine what would it be like to go back in time and play "The Sims" on the Switch. We seen Nintendo port sims games to their consoles/handhelds and it were honestly really bad ports (mabe not as bad as the mobile ones). But I always had fun playing the Sims and I think it's nearly a perfect game to play on the go (though don't kill your Sims standing too close to police officers, they may arrest you XD). Of course there are hundred of games that I would prefer over Sims on the Switch (Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, Story Of Seasons, Puyo Puyo, Donkey Kong, SMT, etc.) I just thought it would be interesting.
btw: I hope the Switch will sell well, not just for Nintendo itself, nor the fans and possible newcomers, but mainly for the honor of deceased Satoru Iwata who was everything Nintendo is now (in a good terms).
@SanderEvers Sometimes when you are in the wrong, it's better to just say simple and humble sorry (for the misunderstanding) rather than react like your feelings were deeply hurt and as if you speak for all. I don't know if it was edited later after your comment, but what @DanteSolablood said sounded kinda obviously as a joke, it was even under the comment that it's a joke (which maybe was edited later on) and I doubt DanteSolablood as active NL user ould advertise piracy and free Switch. You know the saying "don't judge a book, based on its cover"? Try not to jump to conclusion so quickly, because i don't see anyone posting "I so hate people who don't get a simple joke!"
@AlexSora89 No need to apologize for something like that. Even if late I still appreciate the answer I should apologize if I contributed to ruining your own joke, they say quite often that where I go, there's a misfortune bound to happen XD
Does this mean we (or Japan at least) are getting blue and pink Yoshi's amiibo? Or do they already exist from the Wii U version? Sorry If my questions sounds silly, but I don't own Wii U so I don't really know what amiibos they got.
Too expensive, but luckily for me I'm not a die-hard Zelda fan so I don't mind not owning these. But kudos to the creator, it's really nicely done
@Solid_Stannis If I had limitless pockets (ie rich enough to thoughtlessly spend on anything I see) I would probably be one of those people that purchase such things just for the sole purpose of owning it lol (because why not when you can afford it as easily as bubble gum right)
@thesilverbrick I'm actually a woman by the way XD I don't really understand how these things like backward compatibility works, but I guess it's something that can't be added later on, right? My only wild guess why they left that feature out is because they want to focus on completely different kind of games than we seen so far and want the Switch to be something new that no one has experienced so far in terms of gaming. That again gives me a small hope they won't abandon 3DS as that would make it the last device to play 3DS and DS games on (unless you own the older handhelds like dsi lite or what it was exactly called), same goes for Wii/Wii U. Sadly the inevitable is that those devices are gettig older and older every second compared to the new ones, but that goes with everything in life, we just can't stop age and we can't sadly not timetravel yet. Maybe the Nintendo high ups have some backup plan or older games no matter how the Switch will sell?
I don't want to be mean, but how many of those "someone said" articles do we need before the presentation? It's all speculations and rumours anyway that are useless since we will know for sure in three (or two and three hours based on my timezone) days. I believe these kind of articles only misleads people even if the price will end up right and it's not the intention of the journalist. And I worry a lot of people will later blame sites like NL for misleading information (be it "leaks" or "rumours") if the price will end up much higher. The only local store (and the most expensive one as if that wasn't enough of a punch) that offers Switch for pre-order in my country (without any game included or anything) still offers it at nearly $400 so I rather count with that price (if it turns much less I'm buying it from elsewhere) so I'm not disappointed later on.
@TantXL You probably meant it half jokedly, right? I'm not saying it's perfect country though. Every country has its own cons and pros (hell I think mine has more cons than pros), but I'm envious that citizens of Sweden get even the chance to try Switch themselves before the official launch date. I don't remember ever hearing of a Nintendo related event held here :-/
@Vix Norway and Finland got better alcohol than Sweden though XD
I envy those living in Sweden. It's not that far from where I live so If I could go I would right away not to mention two of my close friends used to live there. Sadly due to health issues I wouldn't be able to go even if such event was held in my city, but I hope we will hear a lot from those with personal experience :3
@MadameSpuki Thank you :3 The first half of 2017 is going to ruin me financially XD
@LemonSlice Yeah I did too the problem is the shipping to where I live is kinda expensive and most of the sellers are USA based while I'm in Europe. Thanks for the tip though, eBay is definitely better than local store where the price ranches from $40 to $80 (including tax)
Okay I once again almost chocked up reading that name. I know him (not personally), but had no idea he was behind this. I feel kinda proud, when it comes to game industry we tend to be behind except some rare cases cough Mafia cough)
@kotag High 5 for IX I need that so badly on my 3DS, too bad I didn't get the original DS catridge (I played it through emu because I never had DS, I upgraded to 3DS from GBA SP and PS2 lol), the game is so damn expensive now, twice than regular 3DS game @_@ I wish 3DS was able to emulate DS games so I could purchase it on eshop
Don't do this to me NL. I don't think my heart can contain so much excitement without exploding. Only three days before the Switch presentation and price reveal and only ten days before release date of DQ VIII. I can hardly breath and butterflies must have a party going wild in my stomach.
Is that even surprising? There was no way we could made it from 500k to 1m in two days. I was surprised we even managed 100k on the two last days lol. The timing was bad as well, most people were still spending their holidays or really busy returning to work/school. They need to advertise those missions better. Period.
By the way, I must be the oly one who actually likes the Festival Plaza and Island Scan feature lol, plus getting the "coins" or whatever is it called is really easy.
@AlexSora89 Can I kindly ask from what exact game is that gif? I haven't played Sonic games much in my life so I can't really tell thanks in advance :3
But is that not pretty obvious? The more you move, the healthier you get, it's not a rocket science or revolutionary discovery. I think it's not necessary to prove it by doing a report/research. But of course thumbs up for Pokemon Go managing to get people walk daily en masses.
I don't blieve it until I see a proof. It seems like the person that posted that on GameStop page was more likely referring to the trailer (because he/she mentioned Skyrim too)
I saw the amiibo version on pre-order in my local store (I'm not UK resident) and it looks so good. I would love to get the pack with the amiibo figurine, but I'm still waiting for the price announcement of the Switch and in case I would need to save a lot more than the guessed price, I'll get the amiibo only or buy it when it will be on a special sale
I apologize for the long post, I tend to make long boring comments without thinking even though I already edited and deleted huge parts of it >.>
@thesilverbrick I understad your point and you are right. That's why I'm so excited over the Switch and the whole idea of handheld and console gaming combined. I don't know about others, but it was always my dream to play both at home and on the go mainly because some great and exclusive titles are made console-only or handheld-only so that quite sucks for people who don't own more than one system (yes I know, people would probably say "not my problem, but yours"). I'm not strictly die-hard Nintendo fan. There are games on other systems I love and some I would love to try (thanks sister for moving in with a boyfriend that owns PS4 lol), but the games I actually care about and play are the ones for 3DS. The last not-3DS game I got hooked about was Syberia 3 and that one got delayed again (not surprising after 7 years, it's coming to be close to another FFXV in terms of waiting). That's another reason why I hope they won't abandon 3DS in near future - yes the number of games released for the sytem is less and less each year as evident by reports of game released each month, as for my country (czech) I hardly see or meet any people that play on 3DS, the userbase there is too small so I have no use for local play or streepass other than playing the mini games which are no fun when you have no one to play them with, the library is definitely smaller than that of the predecessor DS, but it's still enough to keep me from moving on to another system. And if they abandon the 3DS completely now when the official Switch price wasn't even revealed yet, when we didn't get to actually play any game on it, I'm not sure if I will have enough income to buy the Switch on day 1 and play solely on it. That's why I need them to keep supporting the 3DS at least til the end of 2017-2018 since that would give me time to think, decide and earn enough money to afford the Switch. The Switch is the reason I didn't go for the Vita nor Wii U even though there are so many great games I would love to play on it. And I can definitely say lot of the systems that are out there almost got me swooned over the years.
As a side note when it comes to eShop games there aren't that many titles that would get me hooked to purchase them. Except Ace Attorney Dual Destinies and the ported trilogy, there weren't one title that I would mark as a must have. I bet in Japan the eShop offers are more interesting, but I don't speak japanese sadly XD
@thesilverbrick Well I'm not saying there is not coming a day when the 3DS (by the way I'm talking about the New one, not the old one) will be discontinued and developers won't be making any games for it like with the previous handhelds, that's inevitable. But in case of DS, 3DS was a direct successor, while Switch's purpose is a lot more different than the of 3DS and Wii U. I'm not saying they should focus solely on the 3DS, I'm glad they are focusing on the Switch (and mobile market which I'm not so happy about), but I just hope they won't shut the servers like in a year or two and left us in deep since the 3DS IS still highly popular in Japan and tops the sales. And there are still many great games coming and a lot of ones that I hope will get localised. I can only hope though... but please Nintendo, don't throw 3DS away
I only hope for a reasonable price, nothing more. Because when you expect too much, you almost always get a huge disappointment instead. I know Nintendo does not give a hiss about our incomes and logical answer to "it's too pricey! I got no money!" complaints (in some cases excuses) is "don't buy then", but as far as I can recall Nintendo had always a reasonable price when it came to their products. If it's more than the guessed $250 then I'll wait til the price drop (even if I have to wait a long time or til black friday) and rather invest in a second 3DS than going for a debt just to have the newest product. Also I'm actually glad it has no backward compability with 3DS and Wii U titles. First it gives hope to Wii U players (me not included, I don't own the console) that their investment in the console was worth it and they got exclusive titles that won't be playable on the Switch (unless ported or completely re-done) and it also supports Nintendo's statement that Switch is not going to be a 3DS replacement.
I'm definitly for the Castlevania one and Ducktales (love both the game and the show, I remember owning a book based on DuckTales reading it all over when I was kid). I don't own Nes Mini (from what I heard it's connected to Wii U and sadly I don't own Wii U as well XD), but if I did those would be the ones I would be damn hooked for though the 30 ones that are already included aren't that bad either (or is it neither? I always get confused with those, apologies since English is no my native)
1 thumb up for the good cause which is definitely worrth it even if there are people who regard speedrun gamers as pointless (in worse cases as worthless), 1 thumb up for the idea and 1 thumb up as the respect I hold for those players. Seriously I have hard time finishing games in normal mode, can't imagine doing it in a speedrun lol
We got the "Sing" (at least I think that's the original name) movie's inspired toys this week, according to my friend. I hope we will get those too though they never offer the toys for longer than one week so I think I'll just ask mom to buy the toys only (I would do it myself, but I'm in a treatment with a progressive cancer so I can't just go freely-neely outside) andd check the quality later. Luckily they aren't that expensive to be not worth buying. I remember we once had similiar Mario toys in McDonald's, but I managed only to get Peach XD (I assume some higher power punished me for not frequenting fast foods and finding out on the last day heh)
I saw in czech that some shops already offer the Switch on pre-order since last year (I would prefer if they didn't, they only confuse the customers). One shop offered it for around $250 (including tax and of course no games included), but I checked in another shop today and saw the price for pre-order (with taxes and no game again) at $389 I almost choked on that. How can they already offer pre-order at that price when the presentation didn't even air yet??? It's such a bait >.> no way I'm going to pay almost $400 for a console with no game or anything included, I think shops in my country went crazy
@aaronmclaren Interesting, in the czech it's the same as in the UK even with the books. But for example UK got the free Pokemon Sun&Moon figurines with the games, but I couldn't find it on offer anywhere here. I may reconsider in the future purchasing from UK even if I have to pay some extra of the shipping cost. Or I could ask my friend who moved there few years ago to study and stayed there for good
I don't get why are people so upset about this. It was said many times in the comment section. Yes we got titles like Persona Q on the 3DS, but Persona has been exclusive to PS consoles for years. It's not even a new game we are talking about, but a port. That doesn't mean the Switch is doomed or that Switch will fail miserably. Yes it can happen, it can become a flop - but those are just assumptions. We didn't even got the console yet, we didn't try to play on it yet so why are you so sure the Switch will be a failure or won't be getting good enough lineup of games and third parties support? We still got the Persona themes on 3ds at least lol. I understand the frustration of hardcore Persona fans that would love to play it on every possible system, but that's a bit of unrealistic... every console/handheld needs their exclusive titles so the competition of the consoles/handhelds can keep going on. And without that, we wouldn't be getting new titles, becaue people would be buying only one console/handheld and there wouldn't be reason to even port the games...
It's ending tomorrow and I'm pretty much sure that it will end in another failure. Why? Because they chose wrong time for this global mission. The goal is only at half so far (500k from 1m) and I doubt in less than two days we will reach the goal when so far we hardly managed to reach the first half. I missed the first mission so I was excited about this second one, but sadly... even though I tried to contribute as much as I could (and I'm still trying to) there is very small hope of reaching the goal before the deadline. When the mission started I was out of city spending my winter holidays without wi-fi connection so I couldn't contribute even if I wanted since this requires internet connection (at least for linking the darned gamesync account), that's why I think they chose wrong time. I know in Japan they don't celebrate Christmas (well at least not like in USA or Europe) but this is global mission >.> I think most people like me were out of internet reach and were spending their holidays not home...
@Expa0 True. Where I live it's often hard to get even one street pass hit even when I go to the most busy zones. Not that Czech is that small (well in comparison to other countries it is), it's rather the problem withthe fact that only very small percentage here plays on 3DS - and like 90% are at least decade younger people than me. So I envy Japan where 3DS popularity doesn't seem to fade...
@retro_player_22 For me I really like Queen Latifah as an actress though but I understand that movie can't possibly equal to the greatness of the game (but I admit I pretty much laughed a lot watching it, I'm a simpleton)

Re: Pokémon Sun And Moon's Second Global Mission Ends In Failure
@samuelvictor Thank you so much for the answer, and very detailed one (which is only good). I will try it ^^
Re: Bergsala to Open Its Doors for Nintendo Switch Preview Event in Sweden
@TantXL You probably meant it half jokedly, right? I'm not saying it's perfect country though. Every country has its own cons and pros (hell I think mine has more cons than pros), but I'm envious that citizens of Sweden get even the chance to try Switch themselves before the official launch date. I don't remember ever hearing of a Nintendo related event held here :-/
@Vix Norway and Finland got better alcohol than Sweden though XD
Re: Bergsala to Open Its Doors for Nintendo Switch Preview Event in Sweden
I envy those living in Sweden. It's not that far from where I live so If I could go I would right away not to mention two of my close friends used to live there. Sadly due to health issues I wouldn't be able to go even if such event was held in my city, but I hope we will hear a lot from those with personal experience :3
Re: Review: Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (3DS)
@MadameSpuki Thank you :3 The first half of 2017 is going to ruin me financially XD
@LemonSlice Yeah I did too the problem is the shipping to where I live is kinda expensive and most of the sellers are USA based while I'm in Europe. Thanks for the tip though, eBay is definitely better than local store where the price ranches from $40 to $80 (including tax)
Re: Toby: The Secret Mine Arrives on the Wii U eShop Very Soon
Okay I once again almost chocked up reading that name. I know him (not personally), but had no idea he was behind this. I feel kinda proud, when it comes to game industry we tend to be behind except some rare cases cough Mafia cough)
Re: Review: Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (3DS)
@kotag High 5 for IX I need that so badly on my 3DS, too bad I didn't get the original DS catridge (I played it through emu because I never had DS, I upgraded to 3DS from GBA SP and PS2 lol), the game is so damn expensive now, twice than regular 3DS game @_@ I wish 3DS was able to emulate DS games so I could purchase it on eshop
Re: Review: Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (3DS)
Don't do this to me NL. I don't think my heart can contain so much excitement without exploding. Only three days before the Switch presentation and price reveal and only ten days before release date of DQ VIII. I can hardly breath and butterflies must have a party going wild in my stomach.
Re: New Report Claims Pokémon GO Could "Measurably Affect US Life Expectancy"
@DanteSolablood I didn't but nice pun. I love Team Rocket haha
Re: Pokémon Sun And Moon's Second Global Mission Ends In Failure
Re: New Report Claims Pokémon GO Could "Measurably Affect US Life Expectancy"
But is that not pretty obvious? The more you move, the healthier you get, it's not a rocket science or revolutionary discovery. I think it's not necessary to prove it by doing a report/research. But of course thumbs up for Pokemon Go managing to get people walk daily en masses.
Re: GameStop References Pokémon On Nintendo Switch Product Page
I don't blieve it until I see a proof. It seems like the person that posted that on GameStop page was more likely referring to the trailer (because he/she mentioned Skyrim too)
Re: Official Nintendo UK Store Opens Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World Pre-Order Options
Re: Feature: Everything You Need to Know About the Nintendo Switch, So Far
Re: Feature: Everything You Need to Know About the Nintendo Switch, So Far
Re: Feature: Everything You Need to Know About the Nintendo Switch, So Far
Re: Feature: Ten Classic Games Which Would Be Great To Play On The NES Mini
@BensonUii Yes for the Flintstones. I need that rawrr
Re: Feature: Ten Classic Games Which Would Be Great To Play On The NES Mini
I'm definitly for the Castlevania one and Ducktales (love both the game and the show, I remember owning a book based on DuckTales reading it all over when I was kid). I don't own Nes Mini (from what I heard it's connected to Wii U and sadly I don't own Wii U as well XD), but if I did those would be the ones I would be damn hooked for though the 30 ones that are already included aren't that bad either (or is it neither? I always get confused with those, apologies since English is no my native)
Re: Awesome Games Done Quick is Underway, With Ocarina of Time 3D and Shovel Knight Included on Day One
Re: Gallery: A Close Look at the McDonald's UK Super Mario Happy Meal Toys, Including TV Commercial
Re: Nikkei Reports a Nintendo Switch Price of 25,000 Yen, Prompting $250 Speculation
Re: Nikkei Reports a Nintendo Switch Price of 25,000 Yen, Prompting $250 Speculation
Or I could ask my friend who moved there few years ago to study and stayed there for good
Re: Persona 5 Will Not Be Coming to the Switch
Re: The Second Global Mission for Pokémon Sun and Moon Has Been Revealed
Re: Inchvilles Crowdfunding Campaign Goes Live, 3D Printed Figure Pricing Revealed
I wouldn't play the game, but that little gameboy-like cutie is sure catching my eyes haha
Re: Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS Enjoys Stronger Japanese Launch Than Wii U Original
@AlexSora89 I wish I could answer you, but I'm at world 3 in the challenge so far soI can't help but hopefully someone will answer
Re: Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS Enjoys Stronger Japanese Launch Than Wii U Original
Re: The Altered Beast And Streets of Rage Movies You Never Knew You Wanted Are On Their Way
@retro_player_22 For me I really like Queen Latifah as an actress though but I understand that movie can't possibly equal to the greatness of the game (but I admit I pretty much laughed a lot watching it, I'm a simpleton)
Re: Review: Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS (3DS)
@ALinkttPresent I registered just to like your comment xD
