Re: My Nintendo Updates with New Kirby and Star Fox Rewards

@OorWullie

It's the game that cemented my status as a diehard Nintendo fan for life. My 20-year-old cart is still hangin' in there with the best of them, but I'm ready to retire it (and my N64 period, but grrr, it's the only way I can play No Mercy!). Me not having SF643D just doesn't feel right, but I can't justify the price!

Re: My Nintendo Updates with New Kirby and Star Fox Rewards

@PtM

Well I do really want SF643D, I just really DIDN'T want to pay $40 for it, seeing as how I don't consider it a $40 game (and my parents definitely paid more than $40 for it a couple of decades ago).

But I just looked on Amazon, and an "new" copy of the game is $90 USD there.... so yeah, this "reward" is the cheapest it's ever getting for me. ~_~

Re: My Nintendo Updates with New Kirby and Star Fox Rewards

@PigmaskFan "Yeah, how come it isn't a Select, yet freakin' OLAF'S QUEST is? SF643D is the one that should be on there!"

I forgot all about that! I was truly beginning to think Nintendo hated Star Fox up until recently (Star Fox 2 being finished and released for the SNES Classic) and wanted to let the IP die.

@Scott_PdP

I'm still waiting for SF643D to become a Select. For some reason, Nintendo still sees fit to charge $40 for a port of a game I got for my birthday 20 years ago. I might go ahead and actually use this My Nintendo "reward" on it, seeing as how this is the cheapest it will probably ever be, and I need to use these gold points on something.

Re: Splatoon 2 And Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle File Sizes Appear On Nintendo eShop

@RadioShadow

I read your comment an hour ago, and thought, "Hmm, do language packs really tack on that much extra chunk of memory to a game's file size?"

Then I went into my living room not long afterward to download the Uncharted Trilogy that I bought last night. I noticed a mother lode of individual files to download, and lo and behold, most of them were language packs. There were about seven or eight each for Uncharted 2 (about 512 MB each) and and Uncharted 3 (About 928 MB each!). The only language I need is English, so that would have been an extra 10-12 Gigs I would have wasted time, space and bandwidth downloading for no reason if I hadn't canceled them from the download queue.

I am now thoroughly convinced language packs are the biggest (or second biggest behind hi-res textures) offenders for large file sizes. At least the Uncharteds let me delete the ones I didn't need.

Re: My Nintendo Just Got Another Update in North America

@TommyTLG

When it first began, My Nintendo offered Super Mario 64 completely free for either 80 or 100 gold coins (can't remember exactly). It was a lot, but I'd take that over 30 percent off for 30 gold coins. I figured if they did that with a couple of games every couple of months, then I could live with the service. Outside of that, WarioWare on DS and the Zelda Picross game, no other games have been free in the US.

Re: Nintendo Reveals More Details About its Paid Online Service

@JaxonH

Same here. PS+ is a great service, but it's not for me. I'd rather pay a a bit extra for a game to know that it's mine-all-mine forever, and I don't need a service holding it hostage to keep me. My backlog is so huge that it is often years before I ever get to a game that I require (I just started Scribblenauts Unlimited on the Wii U the other day; I got that game in 2014). Knowing that the game will definitely be playable when I'm read for it is extremely important.

Besides, with every other console that doesn't belong to Nintendo, games go on sale pretty fast anyway. I'd never buy a PlayStation game within the first few months.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Ramping Up Switch Production For This Fiscal Year

@Menchi187

And Monster Hunter XX, which will drive Japan wild. It may not have the same effect in the West, but MH is a steadily growing franchise outside of Japan and releases don't go quietly.

Dragon Quest is like MH in that it won't be nearly as big in the West, but it'll definitely get Switches in Japanese peoples' hands on whatever console it releases for, especially a portable one.

You're also assuming that Nintendo has no surprises in store that it is saving for E3, which is only a few short weeks away. I never assume I know a company's complete release schedule for the year until after E3. I said in the MHXX comment section the other day that the announcement of X-play and X-save for MHXX is TREMENDOUS news for the possibility of a Pokemon Stars on Switch. If that becomes a reality, that will be huge news worldwide, not to mention things like a port of Smash.

Re: Capcom Unleashes Debut Trailer and Details on Monster Hunter XX for Nintendo Switch

burninmylight

I know this is all about Monster Hunter, but am I the only excited about POKEMON STARS ON SWITCH ALL BUT CONFIRMED!!!!

Think about it, if Capcom can do cross-play and cross-save with MHXX on 3DS and Switch, then you know Gamefreak can with Pokemon. I've read (and partook in) arguments back and forth for which console Pokemon Stars would and should be on, but there is no excuse now, and nothing holding Nintendo and GF back from making it happen. Just like with MHXX, everyone wins.

@OdnetninAges

Finally got around to looking this up, but I just knew when I read your post that it would be PS4 (and probably Japan) exclusive:

https://www.polygon.com/2017/3/13/14911440/virtual-on-ps4-playstation-vita-certain-magical-index-sega-dengeki-bunko

Not exactly what I had in mind for a new VO game, but hey, it's a start. And it's exactly one more game that I ever thought would be released in a long time, after the abomination that was Marz.

Re: Review: Thumper (Switch eShop)

Saw it on a Jim Sterling "Jimpression" a few months ago and remember thinking that if it ever came to 3DS, Wii U or Switch, I'd be all over it. When I get a switch, I'm gonna be all over it. It really seems to be the kind of game that is challenging, but not unfair.

Re: NBA 2K18 Shaquille O'Neal Special Editions Coming to Nintendo Switch

burninmylight

@olrodlegacy @SpoonyTech

Exactly. Every few years 2K does this to freshen things up from the typical popular-guy-at-the-moment on the cover. A few years back there was a special edition with MJ.

Also keep in mind that Shaq was recently inducted into the B-Ball Hall of Fame, so his post-career relevancy is probably higher now than it will ever be in the future.

ALTHOUGH, keep in mind that Allen Iverson was also inducted into the HOF along with Shaq... You know, the same AI that graced the cover of the first three NBA2K games, making him a pseudo-mascot for the Dreamcast? Not only that, but guards like AI tend to be far more marketable than big men like Shaq, and AI carries a lot more "street cred." Funny that 2K didn't go get AI for this.

Re: Random: What Happens When A Guardian And Stone Talus Upset Each Other In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild?

@Ernest_The_Crab @impurekind

I was about to reference MH as well. It always bugs me how two giant monsters who should clearly see each other as a bigger threat (or at the very least, major competition for food in the area, including the human(s) right in front of them) willingly ignore each other in their pursuit to kill you at all costs. Granted, Capcom probably ignores the idea of more monster-on-monster fights because it would make the game far too easy if you could just kick back and relax while a random monster that entered the zone comes in and does your work for you, but I'd like to see a bit more realistic interaction/acknowledgement when it happens.

Like Rathalos and Rathian should be much more coordinated when on the same map, instead of randomly spamming attacks and chucking fireballs in each others face. Things like Qurupeco shouldn't want anything to do with Deviljho, a thing that's supposed to be so powerful, hungry and ruthless that it will consume ANYTHING (including its own tail) that it would snatch up and gulp down 'Peco in one bite. Again, not saying that monsters should totally forget about you and focus on each other or haul ass as soon as a larger threat appears, but I'd like to see more realistic interaction/acknowledgement between them.

@BinaryFragger

NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got a PS3, so I've been buying games from the PSN store like crazy! I downloaded four of the Tales games last week, then I downloaded four of the Final Fantasy games on Monday! I was going to avoid looking at the shop this week, but now that I know there is an Atlus sale, I can't afford NOT to take advantage of any offers!

Re: Nintendo Download: 9th February (North America)

@BanjoPickles @GameOtaku

One of the things I am most looking forward to with the Switch is no longer having to sit on the fence about which console to buy a VC/indy game for, or whenever one gets release, going, "BUT I'D RATHER PLAY THIS ON THE GO ON 3DS! BUT I'D RATHER PLAY THAT ONE ON MY BIG SCREEN TV ON MY WII U! WHY ARE YOU RELEASING THIS GAME ON N3DS WHEN I CAN GET IT ON WII U!? WHY ISN'T THIS GAME ON 3DS VC YET, WHO CARES ABOUT WII U?"

Just the idea of all my future purchases on a single console that I can choose to take with me or play on a big screen is reason alone for me to buy a Switch.

Re: Guide: The Best Nintendo Switch Micro SD Cards

burninmylight

@Samuel-Flutter

How come it doesn't work? If it's because of the 3DS' supposed size limit on SD cards, you can easily get around that. I have a 128GB card in my N3DS right now and have never had a problem with it, and in my original 3DS, I had a 64GB card.
