Re: Feature: What Do You Want From A New Nintendo Switch?

bratzdoll

Whatever they do with the new model, I hope it enhances handheld play first and foremost. Whether they keep the joycons or get rid of them (a Switch Mini per the article) to bring the cost down, I don’t mind.

If it was up to me, I’d, use better screen technology to increase battery life -like they’re planning to-, drop the screen bezels but keep size and resolution the same. I’d also double the storage as a bonus. Those are rational demands from a Lite/XL revision, no?

Edit: and and AND...please let me choose my joycon colors if you decide to keep them! These are the cosmetic details we are looking for in a first revision.

Re: Feature: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Team Talk Torna, Female Blades And The Ending That Never Made It

bratzdoll

Haven't played Torna yet but gameplay reviews make me all the more excited for XC3, everything seems to be more refined now.

"We left it up to the designers at that point, and we ended up with a lot of females, and I think that’s the best answer I can give."

At least he's aware a lot of their character design choices were...questionable. I hope so, anyway. PLEASE fire whoever's responsible for Dahlia come XC3, I'm begging here

Re: Soapbox: Why I'm Not Excited About Playing NES Games On The Nintendo Switch

bratzdoll

I'm sure they will offer more down the line. They'll just keep raising the price as they do so, you can bookmark this.

Since there's no actual service being offered -Nintendo's not paying for any dedicated server as far as I know- I wish they'd kept the Virtual Console for those who want it and left online free, which would be a selling point for Switch in itself. They'd still be making a profit.

Re: Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Will Have IVs And EVs, Ditches Held Items And Abilities

bratzdoll

I don't remember anyone ever having an issue with abilities or with held items so this feels like another solution to a problem that was never there. edit: Not nearly the worst decision they've made though, I'm ok with it.

However, I do wish it was the other way round. If you asked me which mechanic needed a reboot, Abilities or EVs/IVs (+Natures), I'd say the latter all the way. EVs/IVs have little business in a game meant to play itself but that's just me. Competitive is all those are used for anyway, and I doubt Let's Go is replacing the 3DS games anytime soon.Even in future games though, if they don't ditch EVs/IVs altogether, they should at least make everything transparent and easily customizable.

Re: Video: Five Features Included With The Nintendo Switch Online Membership

bratzdoll

The witch cackle I let out when they said they would reveal the special offers another time... MAAAN this was the timeI to reveal all your cards and convince people. What a mess.

I just want to know where the “Service” part of “Online Service” comes in. What would I be paying for? I saw no mention of dedicated servers there, voice chat is still via a mobile app, cloud saves don’t work on every game (even major first party titles that need it most)...so please, give me one reason why I should not just call this a paywall. What is the service here? I don’t know how anyone but fanboys can defend this. I am not content giving a company money -yes, even just $20- and getting nothing back in return.

Re: Opinion: What Did You Think Of Today's Nintendo Direct?

bratzdoll

Switch Online is still a disaster, and its segment didn’t help much but this was a fantastic Direct otherwise. A good variety of game announcements.

Honestly, the one thing I was expecting (as commented in the predictions post) that wasn’t there was a Dragon Quest release window. But all the Final Fantasies more than made up for it.

Re: Video: What Can We Hope for and Expect from the Delayed Nintendo Direct?

bratzdoll

From the way I see it, Nintendo has something to prove -to investors, not a fansite's comment section- so I'm optimistic here.

For 3DS I'm guessing:
1) Yo-Kai Watch
2) Either Etrian Odyssey Nexus or Persona Q2 , the 3DS's last games of note, depending on which gets localized quicker.

For Switch, I'm thinking:
1) Pokemon Let's Go character customization or w/e
2) A WiiU port (probably New Super Mario Bros U)
3) Montage of 3rd party titles with release dates: Dark Souls Remastered / Mega Man 11 / FFXVPE, the last one being available right away on the eshop
4-5) Civilization VI and Diablo III get a slightly bigger segment
6) Mario Party gets some mode revealed
7) Xenoblade Chronicles 2 DLC gets one last push
8) Starlink Battle For Atlas gets some promo
9) Daemon X Machina gets a release month
10) Yoshi 2019 gets a proper introduction/release date
11) Dragon Quest XI gets a release window (that will get pushed back when the time comes but I digress)
12) SSBU Character Reveal: Animal Crossing character + someone else
"And one more thing"
13) Animal Crossing teaser for Summer 2019

I'd also want to see Xenoblade X and Tokyo Mirage Sessions ports but they wouldn't want the first one to overshadow Torna (it WILL happen though) and the latter is a long shot in general, Atlus is a bit busy at the moment.

Re: Talking Point: Do We Still Need Review Scores?

bratzdoll

Generally speaking, no game journalist site needs a score if they're gonna start rating every release from 7 up (out of 10). You don't need a grade system if you're gonna declair every other project a masterpiece more or less.

The readers too are at fault though. Too many people don't understand that reviews represent the opinions of the writer and are meant to help people who are on the fence or uninformed on a release. Reviews are not there to praise the things you like. Games don't start at a perfect score and get points taken out for any issue the reviewer finds with it.... Please stop leaving dozens of comments on a score needing that extra 0.5.

I love scores. There's nothing inherently wrong with them. But if you're gonna use them, use them right. And if you want them to stick around, accept them for what they are.

For what it's worth, I think no fansite of a company (Nintendo or otherwise) has use for scores, consumers gain nothing from it.

Re: Soapbox: Why I Prefer Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate To World

bratzdoll

I’m not a Monster Hunter fan myself but even I know this would have never made it past the first draft were World on Switch. No way. Im sorry.

If I suspend my disbelief enough, I could maybe see why a select few would prefer MHGU over the newest World, sure, ok. But am I supposed to believe World is some kind of Pokémon hand-holding hell? Cause that’s the biggest point for Generations/against World according to the write-up.

Re: Sony Interactive Entertainment Asia President Says Switch Has Had A "Positive Influence" On Games Market

bratzdoll

@Razer I don't think a portable needs 4K, if that's what you mean. A slightly more powerful but portable-only Switch is what I had in mind, somewhere between option A and option B from your original comment. Think the Switch running Monster Hunter World (edited the example) at 720p portable, that's the sweet spot. I'd say that should doable by 2019-2020 and within that price point. Or maybe it's just wishful thinking talking.

FWIW I do expect the Switch "Pro" to get there whenever it rolls out.

Re: Sony Interactive Entertainment Asia President Says Switch Has Had A "Positive Influence" On Games Market

bratzdoll

I wish Sony would "play by its strengths" and release a proper Vita successor -a dedicated HD handheld system- instead of a hybrid like some comments here have mentioned. You can't do hybrid without sacrificing (home console) power, which is what Sony's all about.

The Switch is priced like a home console and the 3DS is entry-level hardware, the gap is right there for someone to cash-in. A "PS4 Portable" at less than $250 would be godsent. edit: Oh, and they could launch it with Persona 5: (Shade Of Red) and job would be done.
