Re: Nintendo Is Open To Dropping The 'Direct' Approach At Future E3 Events

bratzdoll

I think the Direct format works perfectly fine; it gets straight to the point and saves us from potential embarrassment.

I wish they'd change two things though; 1) focusing on one big game needs to go, especially after 2018's overkill, and 2) the E3 Direct should be bigger and better than any of the Directs spread throughout the year, it shouldn't be comparable to a January mini Direct.

@Belatarr Did you skip the 3DS games altogether? If so, there is a marriage and parent system at the core of these games as of Awakening. It just so happens that we only got 1 gay and 1 lesbian marriage option out of dozens in Fates, while Awakening had none. There was also “censorship!” outcry when localization edited sexualized outfit, dropped a gay conversion therapy storyline, and completely cut a creepy petting mechanic where you got to treat the characters like nintendogs, only they made weird faces and noises. Hope that helped! Now if you didn’t skip the games and you knew all of this, that would be an obtuse take, don’t you think?

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's E3 2018 Went Big On Smash Bros. But Left Us Wanting More

bratzdoll

"or a case of bloated expectations?"
"Nintendo can't be held responsible for our overactive imaginations, or our willingness to assume that rumours are solid facts"
"Putting aside our childish sense of entitlement for one moment"

Can we for once not shift the blame back to the users? Can we maybe admit that it's Nintendo that dropped the ball? This is E3 . There's no excuse for a 30 minute showcase of one game, featuring trivial things like "Spot The Difference" between past and present character models. Enough. Please.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want To See From Nintendo At E3 2018?

bratzdoll

I agree with Glen the most. Not much from the 1st party lineup excites me bar Fire Emblem (which I think is still coming this year). I'm most looking forward to what 3rd parties bring; I too will take any JRPG or any narrative-driven game, really.

Going beyond realistic expectations, I'd love to see Atlus announce a portable P5 on Switch, and Square Enix to bring FFXII or FFXV to the system.

Re: Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Need A Switch Online Sub For Core Gameplay Features

@Heavyarms55 “No, it absolutely should be all or nothing”.

I actually agree there. There should be no exceptions. But you also ask us to ~get over ourselves~ and accept “all” by default. Why? “Nothing” is still an option, and one every consumer would take if asked. Why should we all gladly pay for what has been free so far? No amount of NES games will ever make up for that, what gives here? Nintendo didn’t operate at a loss when online trading was free on the 3DS and they certainly wouldn’t start doing so now. And I’m pretty sure they’ve been making profit ever since Switch launched with free online. Unless they offer a package greater than what’s already in place, you are asking everyone to just hand over their money and be happy about it, which, unless you work for Nintendo, doesn’t make sense defending (to me).

Re: Let's Go possibly becoming a series

Now my gut's really telling me "it's a trap, don't buy this"...
I'm all for making Pokemon barebones again, its depth as of now isn't fun, and some solid new features were introduced...but I'm just put off by everything else? Especially by the fact that's a "home console" game only by price. I'm not sure what I'll think of it come November but I know I don't want to regret another purchase like I did with Ultra Moon.

My dream open world Pokemon game where you battle every gym in any order is looking more distant with every milestone this game reaches.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon GO’s ‘Casual’ Influence On The Mainline Series Is A Good Thing, At Least For Now

bratzdoll

I'm just not sure Pokemon GO mechanics are the way to...go. An issue with Pokemon is that, for a game that's all about individualizing your team with whichever mon appeals to you, I'd need to spend hours upon hours upon hours min-maxing the same 6 pokemon everyone is using just so I can go online and have a chance competitively. Not battling pokemon along the way doesn't fix that. Whiping out 80% of the roster doesn't make every Pokemon more viable. If you're gonna destroy competitive altogether, at least go all out and make in-game battles real time instead of turn-based; now THAT would be a press-worthy move.

And I see why a return to Kanto would interest some. But everyone who's played Yellow on GameBoy always dreamed of a game that looks like the anime, with freedom to explore the world as they see fit. A 3DS game in HD does not a Breath Of The Wild make. Get rid of linearity and seriously polish up the graphics, that's how you bring nostalgia/the "genwunners" back. Those are the people that should be chased after, not the crowd who downloaded a free app because of hype and dropped it after 2 weeks; they're not ever buying a Switch.

Some things GameFreak did get right though. The return to Kanto, like I said, is a good move in theory. Getting rid of random encounters is already a big improvement. Pokemon following the player has been asked for for years now. It's just...go all the way, guys, it's time.

Re: Nintendo Announces Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu! and Let’s Go Eevee! For Nintendo Switch

bratzdoll

Let’s Go Eeeve it is for me. I even bought Ultra Moon, I won’t pretend I have standards.

But even as someone who was defending this when it was a rumor, and I knew this would be a glorified 3DS game, I’m still let down a little. Deep down I expected more. The GO integration makes this 2 years too late.

But random encounters are finally gone, hello! Let’s celebrate that!
