Re: Feature: How One Man Saved Kyoto - And Video Games - From The Atomic Bomb

blujay1524

As an American, I understand that the bomb probably had to be dropped (to save American lives and to curtail the number of future Japanese casualties in the Pacific), but Truman never should've dropped two bombs, and he never should've dropped them on civilian cities.

One bomb on a military base would have been more acceptable, but the two bombs went well above and beyond Pearl Harbor.

Re: Super Mario 64 DS

blujay1524

I know I'm alone, but I actually like this version better than the N64. I'll take the d-pad and DS camera controls over the stick and c-buttons any day. Also Wario...nuff said

Re: Voice Actors Union Authorises Strike Action With Landslide 96.52 Percent Vote

blujay1524

I understand wanting "transparency" and "better pay" and "working conditions" whatever that might entail specifically (the inattentive fines are BS I must say) especially if >90% of the union votes for it...but "stunt pay" for "vocally stressful" recording sessions? Come on now, that should be for the mocap guys. And royalties? I know they won't get it but I think that would probably end up doing more harm (to voice actors) than good in the long run.

I can understand wanting greater compensation and means of improving/lightening your workload (especially if you voice act in the Metal Gear/Mass Effect Series) but, as much as I love him, actors like Charles Martinet, who take on lighter roles that don't really require a whole lot of script reading or voice overs, are a different breed than people like Jennifer Hale and David Hayter who are literally talking for days. And I think that the ones who will suffer in the long run (if the union gets everything they want) will be newcomers and VA's like Charles Martinet (not Charles himself tho, he'll be fine) who developers will simply not hire due to the costs.

You maybe asking why I would make a claim like that, and if I have any evidence to back it up (other than basic economics). Well, although it is anecdotal evidence, I recall one of the members of Playtonic Games (Grant Kirkhope I believe) saying that back in the day "nobody hired voice actors" to do light vocal work back in the day, as is evident in the fact that Grant was the voice of DK in DK64 and not to mention that Rare employee Kev Bayliss provided the voice for King K Rool, the only speaking character in the game. I also know that Chris Sutherland, one of the lead devs on Killer Instinct, did the voice over for the most vocal character in the aforementioned game — the announcer.

I know resources aren't that limited as they were back in the old days but (and believe me I'm not trying to be controversial) voice acting is literally the least important aspect of any game. Yes, it's become an industry standard but let's face it, as long as we can all still read it's really more of a commodity than a necessity.

Re: The Pokémon Company Sues Fan for Copyright Infringement, Demands $4,000 in Damages

blujay1524

So I'm assuming this guy bought all his Nintendo products, then threw a party based on his hobbies? You know, I had a pikachu cake when I was 7 I guess I got lucky the PKMN Co. didn't sue me.

This is completely ridiculous. I don't know how this country not only allows so many stupid and frivolous lawsuits to even make it to court, but how it also manages to rule against innocent people nearly every single time.

So what if the the guy charged? He's running a cafe! Comic book stores all across america hold events like this, based around magic the gathering, yu-gi-oh and heroclix that you have to pay to enter. Hell, chicago comic con held a smash tourney that gave out charizard amiibos as a prize. Not only do I want to know just how the PKMN Co. even planed to make any money off of this, did they really think that this guy hurt them or stole from them in anyway? This is about as sinister as Metallica suing their fans for downloading their mediocre music. Sounds to me like this guy was a good customer and that the people who once provided joy to this man's life have now single handedly ruined it.

Good job, jerks

Re: Hands On: Blast Ball Brings Crude Button Mashing and is a Poor Advert for Metroid Prime: Federation Force

blujay1524

All the crying babies on the internet, and this site, have made me want to get this game when I had slight to middling interest in it to begin with.

Well, to spite the whiners, and the fact that I've always been interested in the Metroid universe and thought Nintendo should branch out and explore/explain it more. Whether this is the game to do it, we'll just have to wait and see

Re: Poll: How Excited Are You About Nintendo's E3 Games?

blujay1524

None of these games look bad honestly. I was hoping Happy Homes Designer was an expansion for New Leaf, because Animal Crossing is one of those series that feels like you can play 1 iteration of it forever.

Star Fox is the reason I got a Wii U

Fire Emblem Awakening is the reason I got a 3DS

Xenoblade Chronicles is the reason I got a new 3DS

Wooly World, that cute girl in the Direct sold me. Let's see more of her, because I think I'm in love <3

Zelda I'm surprised they didn't show any footage, if they did all the haters would be appeased. I mean, other companies premier stupid CG trailers that don't even showcase gameplay, so Nintendo could've done something no matter how brief. But I do understand where Reggie is coming from with the "advertising Holiday titles".

Re: Next Metroid Prime Home Console Title "Would Likely Now be on NX"

blujay1524

After this year's E3 the NX isn't starting to sound like such a bad thing. Nintendo needs a more powerful platform. Without it, they're limited to only what they can produce themselves, which is all fine and good being that they're very good at doing that, but they're missing out on A LOT of potential revenue from 3rd party sales and I'm missing out on a lot of games.

What I want to see from NX is a few things: First, backwards compatibility, Second transferable download titles and Third, a better Nintendo ID system.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3 Digital Event?

blujay1524

Star Fox 64 is my all time favorite game, and I've waited literally 9 years for a new Star Fox game, so I just hope that it's a good one.

I said earlier, as long as I get Star Fox I'm happy, everything else is just icing on a birthday cake, but if it's a poor game this year's E3 will have been a total bust for me I want to be optimistic about it though

Re: Mighty No. 9 Features on Wii U and 3DS Versions are Outlined

blujay1524

I didn't grow up playing Mega Man, so there's not much "hype" here for me. That being said i'm definitely still gonna get this game when it comes out.

A little disappointed that there's no amiibo support (I really want an excuse to hunt down a Mega Man amiibo), but I guess it's easy come easy go. shrug

Re: Cool It, Conspiracy Theorists - Sakurai Didn't Deliberately Make Kirby And Pit More Powerful In Super Smash Bros.

blujay1524

Pit has very few kill moves, and his super annoying spin attack got removed, so was gliding, and his insane recovery got nerfed, so to say he's OP and that Sakurai made him more powerful is ridiculous.

As for Palutena, I thought she was OP when I first saw her being played on a twitch stream (insane range, huge up smash, a counter and reflector) but when you actually play her yourself, you quickly realize that it requires a lot of skill to play and master. If you don't have that, you can get schooled by pretty much anybody.

If anybody is to be considered "cheap" it's Rosalina. She has a mobile shield that does as much damage as a normal character, with fantastic knock back. Whenever I play her against my friends, I find myself holding back and usually still end up winning.

Re: Video: This Is The 3D Sonic Game We All Truly Want, But May Never Have

blujay1524

The thing about Sonic games is they should position sonic towards the far left side of the screen to allow you more reaction time. That was always my biggest complaint.

Sonic shouldn't revert to what it was, it should keep what made it good, change what makes it bad and try something fresh...also get rid of the Super Saiyan rip offs

Re: Poll: Where Do You Stand On DeNA, Smart Device Games, Nintendo 'Membership' And The Nintendo NX?

blujay1524

I'm cautiously optimistic about the deal. Hopefully the DeNA partnership will improve Nintendo's archaic online/digital presence and will add, rather than, distract from the business as a whole (ie move away from club nintendo, maybe implement a Nintendo ID system where I can DOWNLOAD GAMES I ALREADY PAID FOR WHENEVER I WANT ON ANY CONSOLE I LEGALLY PURCHASED).

Also I think the Wii U and 3DS deserve longer life spans. I mean look at 360 and PS3, they're still kicking and, just like their successors, those systems are practically the same (give or take the few exclusives for each).
