@strongest_link Legit can make it from island to island now! Starting to make more sense, though extra characters you can pick up, like this old lady looking person who comes out of a one-diamond house... I have no idea what her function is.
Also, the Dead Lands version allows you to become a new character who can turn into a bat (I'm thinking Gebel from Bloodstained, but the dood looks old.). I have no idea how to change back to Miriam... her Ice thing is super useful.
It's like a cross between Castlevania and Super Mario 2, but not in an organic, improved evolution kind of way... rather in a spliced DNA from what is (maybe) a strand of fiber collected from the NES cartridges that were found abandoned in the back of a freezer in a town that now no longer exists. Plus it turns out that it wasn't "fiber" but rather the dismembered leg of a cockroach that spent its life learning human language by reading "just for the articles," a certain famous adult magazine.
@CactusMan I've tried like 4 or 5 times to get into this game, and I keep getting to a point where I'm just stuck. I run out of new peasants and can't expand, but keep getting my butt kicked come nighttime. Is there an endgame to each land you're in? I'm still stuck on the first!
Shattered Memories had a great aesthetic but wasn't scary. The enemies only came at you at obvious "ice zone" areas, and you just had to keep running. It felt more like a point and click adventure than a survival horror, where you're really just observing stuff happen instead of MAKING stuff happen. Yes I love Silent Hill 2. No I don't think it creates a standard to which it is impossible to live... I'm looking at you, Homecoming, get your own ideas!
@PessitheMystic That's my question. The only question worth asking here, really. Why a cube?? What's the significance? Or is it just easier to make a cube in what amounts to a flash videogame? I don't think Eastasiasoft will ever answer.
Super grubby. I'll wait for the inevitable discounts, which won't be for a long while I'm sure. Still have to beat P5 Royal, before I dig into another SMT. Too many games! Champagne problems.
I know I make this complaint every time a top-down racer pops its underachieving way to the Switch, but... C'mon, I thought we were done with this kind of thing. Top down racing sucked back in '93, and it sucks today. It isn't immersive, it isn't intuitive, and it comes across as lazy game design. I know someone will say "well don't buy it," or "Try such-and-such it's really good you might change your mind," but please understand I was 7 back in '92 when I played Road Rash for the first time on Genesis. 2D sprites in a fluidly scaled 3D effect road. That was 30 years ago. Boycott this stuff, folks. Don't even buy it on sale. I'm done, you can have the soap-box back.
I legit just deleted the game from my Switch. Couldn't stay interested. Don't know why MH never connected to me. Rise was definitely easier for me to play than some past installments, but I don't know... I tried to get into it. I can't imagine buying it again and starting over.
@Envy Yikes. Name-calling already huh? Look, tearing open your game's software and modding it on a PC for others to download and use is - most of the time - not legal. Not legal at all in Japan, and not inherently legal in the USA. Pretty sure many games actually have a notice on the packaging or in the game boot-up sequence to that effect. Anyway you missed the point of my passive-aggressive comment from before... NL shouldn't use clickbait titles. The main title said nothing about fan-made work, and it is decidedly misleading.
I saw the title and thought “Oooo new DLC for BotW?” and then opened the article to be disappointed. Thanks for broadcasting the wonders of illegal mods again, NL.
Had Ys VIII on Switch, then got it on PS4 (I like supporting developers). Got IX on PS4. Basically…
IX’s gameplay is more fluid than VIII VIII’s story is more involving than IX IX’s combat is less natural than VIII VIII’s area-to-area transitions are a pain in the butt holdover from the PSVita original.
Same garbage happened with Xenon Racer or whatever it was called... the promo videos had no relation to the finished product- especially on Switch- and the game deservedly tanked. If they were more forthright with its performance, people may have given it a chance (albeit at a lower introductory price). Honesty is the best policy, especially now that the internet doesn't let sh¡t slide.
@PhilKenSebben Darkstar One? Oof, even at the time that game felt janky af. We've got better* space sims on the system already, Everspace quickly coming to mind.
