Fortnite has never shied away from representing big brands in its games, so it comes as no surprise that the latest addition to the metaverse is Dune. The upcoming movie, starring Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides and Zendaya as Chani, has now been Fortnite-ified, according to a leak on Twitter from HYPEX:
The Zendaya model looks pretty faithful to her real-life counterpart in these higher definition screenshots:
But who is this guy? This is not Timmy Chalamet, heartthrob star of Call Me By Your Name, Little Women, and pretty much every other blockbuster movie right now:
Alongside everyone's favourite Muad'Dib and his best friend/lover, Fortnite players will also have the chance to sport Chani's Satchel, a "Fremkit" which looks almost exactly like Chani's Satchel, ride an Ornithopter, and Maker Hooks and Twinblades as Harvesting Tools. There's also a new emote, the "Sand Walk" — gotta make sure those worms can't detect your rhythm — and a loading screen depicting a very Fortnite interpretation of a Sandworm that's been crossed with Fishstick.
We're just a little surprised that the Crysknife and the Gom Jabbar didn't get made into weapons. Come on! These things write themselves! Also, let us play as the Sandworm, ya cowards.
The Dune cosmetics and characters will be introduced as part of Chapter 2, Season 8. There are no price details (although placeholder prices have been leaked) and no release date yet, although HYPEX speculates that they'll arrive "tonight/tomorrow" — that's October 18th or 19th — when the store updates at 8pm ET.
So, Dune fans: Thoughts? Let us know in the comments. And remember: He who controls the spice, controls the Battle Bus.

honestly? it's a better fit than Superman or Batman.
And this probably proves that my gut feeling on not being interested in Dune was right. Seen the Lynch film, can’t really be bothered with the new one. Which is now in bloody Fortnite.
I hope everyone sees this movie. It looks amazing. The first book is amazing. Fork knife though... I've never personally been into it.
@nessisonett Did you see Blade Runner 2049? The director was shocked they let him make another film after doing poorly in the box office. Though the film was amazing in many ways. Maybe they let him keep his film, Dune, as long as the company got to sell toys and put characters in Fortnite etc?
There better be some DUNE games coming to the Switch, I can't believe Nintendo missed out on all the action and both original 1992 Dune games ended up on the Mega CD and Mega Drive instead. We almost had the GBA ornithopter game, but it got canned already pretty much complete.
Also this movie is a modern masterpiece and one of the biggest movies of the decade so make sure you don't skip it, we need Part Two.
I heard it was good, but I'll wait a bit before I consider watching Dune.
Oh, about Fortnite? I don't give a s**t anymore, I'm tired of hearing about Fortnite, not because it's bad, it's not bad, but it's because I hear it all the time.
Just my two cents to tell you guys that I saw the film some weeks ago (it released last month in Europe) and that it's a MASTERPIECE.
Like, really.
Something you HAVE TO SEE IN THEATERS. I know that most of you guys can access to HBO Max (not the case in my country) but this is more than a movie, for me. It's... an experience. Something crazy. World building unlike anything.
Like... The last time I really BELIEVED in a world like this, in cinema, it was for the LORD OF THE RINGS. And that's because they constructed everything, kept the green screens to very minimal possible, and took the time necessary to install their story, their characters.
The cast is awesome. Really awesome.
The costumes, the set, same.
As is the writing.
For the fans of the book, it's the holy graal. The "box" scene is just a masterclass of writing and acting, in my opinion. And I'm saying that, this was my favorite scene from the Lynch movie (which I've always liked, despite its flaws).
Just go see it. On the bigger screen possible. We only see this kind of films once in a decade.
@Cheez I thought it was alright but not a patch on the original. I didn’t mind Arrival though. I dunno, with Dune I’m just not a big fan of all the ‘lore’ and stuff. Not my bag.
Cew all the fortnite hate comments.
I kind of wish Fortnite would do more of its own thing instead of this constant pandering to whatever the latest pop culture phenom is. It's getting easy to predict what film will have a Fortnite tie-in next week. And hey, skipping the Sopranos movie? What's up with that? I totally would've bought V-Bucks for that.
I was going to go see the film but I think I will spend my money on this so we never see part 2 of the movie but instead get more outfits.
Zendaya is barely in the movie, Jason Mamoa's character would've been cooler.
Of course it is. Fortnite isn't a game. It's an advertisement billboard that has you pay to be advertised to, by a company that got paid to advertise someone else's product to you.
Fortnite isn't even a game anymore, it's just a cobrand marketing platform.
@Richnj lol, we posted that at the same moment!
At least its not a skin that makes no sense when using weapons. (Like alien or superman)
Frank Herbert is probably rolling over in his grave.
@NEStalgia Noice
Neat cross promo (as per usual lol)! My dad is really excited for the movie so I'm sure he'll get a kick out of seeing these, although I personally won't be getting them.
Also, I knew this was a Kate Grey article by the tagline alone, and the reference did not go unseen.
@nessisonett 2049 was definitely but needed but the cinematography, special effects, and acting were all amazing. I don't remember the last time I was so impressed with special effects and cinematography. Of course that's not all that makes a movie, but I greatly enjoyed the plot as well. Even if it wasn't a necessary sequel.
I didn't know people still cared about Dune! That's great!
Walk without ryhthm? You'll never learn.
@nessisonett I wouldn't be too bothered by Dune either... if Denis Villeneuve wasn't the director.
Brilliant from his early stuff like Incendies & Prisoners, to later bigger budget projects like Sicario, Arrival and Blade Runner 2049.
@BloodNinja Making a comeback thanks to the new movie. I first watched the 1984 movie and the miniseries about 15 years ago (I have the 1984 movie on DVD).
@Vicki_S I didn't even know there was a new movie LOL
