If you regularly use the eShop and come across any issues over the coming months, it could well be that a planned maintenance schedule is behind the problem. If any troubles arise during the times above, at least you now know why!

Any chance that this maintenance will redesign the eShop to be anything else other than what it is now?
Nintendo Direct confirmed!!! But seriously, I hope we get something in the next two weeks. I'm not too hopeful however due to the Pikmin 3 announcement last week.
Let’s just hope that the Wii U eShop doesn’t lose half its library as a result of this maintenance.
Give us nightslashers in the uk! Xxx
Switch Pro confirmed!!!!
I just bought a Wii U, pure for virtual console. If Mario 3D World won’t get announced at the next direct I will be buying that game on the Wii U.
Let’s for a revamp on the Switch eshop!
@RustedHero Or how about some new menu themes? The current two are so plain and the white one near enough blinds me to death. And it's ridiculous we can't put our games in folders like in the 3DS.
Wait, so why exactly are they still doing things to the Wii U? I can get the 3ds (Persona Q2 came out last year) but the Wii U? I only use that for the virtual console anymore.
@BrintaPap Get it. Not as good as Galaxy or Oddysey, but still solid.
@Clyde_Radcliffe there's a black one too, but I get what your saying
@MeowMeowKins Oh yeah, that's the one I use but they're both very dull compared to the 3DS ones.
@BrintaPap I'm rocking my Switch/PC mostly rn, but I gave my sister the Wii U I stuffed full of VC goodness. Loved all the GBA games on there, pretty cool to have Golden Sun 1+2, Mario Golf Advance, Fire Emblem games...plus so much more!
@Clyde_Radcliffe Switch themes and folders are pointless. You should have very little if any desire to hang out in menus. The current system is fast loading and quicker to find games than if a folder system was implemented.
@arekdougy yeah, buying a gameboy is easy go do but getting the games is kinda hard here. You really never now the condition. They are also expensive.
Buying them on a place they will stay on is much better for me. I like NES and SNES thing on the Switch but it annoys me that you don’t own them. I like physical games but I don’t mind buying games digital.
@idrawrobots It's not quicker. On the 3DS I had my games sorted into different genres and a folder for demos. Much quicker to find something I wanted to play than the Switch system of having to travel through all my games.
@MeowMeowKins Wait, so why exactly are they still doing things to the Wii U? I only use that for the virtual console anymore.
Maybe Nintendo thinks that other customers matter too, not just you?
@Clyde_Radcliffe It's literally quicker in a loading standpoint. The main reason the Switch is so fast to wake up and get right into games is the minimalist menus. You may have liked the 3DS, but it was insanely slower to boot and transition between apps or load anything
@Clyde_Radcliffe
Missed the part of your comment where you mentioned the two menu themes, my bad. Yeah, it would be nice if they had, like, a Splatoon one, a persona one would be cool, but they don't have persona on the switch so 🤷🏽♀️
@idrawrobots I get not wanting a desire, but sometimes I'm indecisive on what to play, and something, anything to look at is always nice while I contemplate BOTW or Mario and Rabbids (it's surprisingly good)
@Crono1973 yeah, okay, okay. But Nintendo seems to be on a crusade to either get rid of everything off of the Wii U eShop or port it to Switch. Only thing I can think of that isn't a available on other, better consoles is 3d world. I actually don't know anyone who uses it for real. Most people either have a Switch, or don't have the Wii U (at least the people I know).
@BrintaPap just buy it physically. If need be you can resale it. Definitely a game to have though. Although I honestly believe most games in the WiiU were very good.
@BrintaPap I'm in Canada and tracked down an SP AGS-101 for around $100...took a while to get one that wasn't scratched to hell, ha. They were truly the most pocket friendly gameboy (in my opinion), but kids took them everywhere and they have the scars to show it. There are some cool cheap GBA carts on Ebay, you just have to check the reviews to make sure it's good quality. I played an English fan translation of Mother 3 that way and it was awesome. $15 I think for the cart? There's also FF 4/5/6 carts with restored sound (SNES quality), and I want to get my hands on those. I obviously like having authentic, but I got a CIB copy of Metroid: Zero Mission...$100 was a good deal eyeroll. They have skyrocketed in price in the past 5 years. Same with GameCube games. I'm kind of stoked I live more rural now (but still a small city), because the bros here don't know the worth of their games as much. In the city everything just matches online going rates.
XFD sorry for that meandering rumination !
@Clyde_Radcliffe I know right? There are only TWO themes and only one is any good.
@MacBoi
Nobody likes white. Nobody. Let it be known to all, black is better, and if it had black and red combined, I'd be in heaven.
I saw the thumbnail and got excited for Mario Maker news. How cruel of you to use that.
@arekdougy Nintendo should atleast port all gameboy (color) sp games to the Switch, it is not hard to hardware wise. It would prolly make more money also it helps to preserve games. I really liked the Gamecube games. I’n going to buy Mario Kart Double Dash!! to play it again with my buds.
You mean Switch and 3DS, Wii U was a commercial failure that was discontinued shortly after released being replaced by Switch.
@Crono1973 but there aren't any more customers, it was a commercial failure being quickly discontinued after launch, replaced by Switch. A commercial failure means it has no sales, and no sales means no owners/customers. The Wii U isn't being updated, it's already gone.
@MeowMeowKins because it was a commercial failure, selling something like 1,300,000 units, discontinued only like a year and a half after launch.
If I put myself in Nintendo's shoes I too would port over WiiU games that, based on spreadsheets, did not see much time in the sun so that my new install base can see what all else is out there besides ACNH. As a gamer, if you do that then make the port count with the version, but give me the option to still buy budget and not remove it from the WiiU shop. Low blow to make me pay $60.00 when I may of wanted to pay $20.00.
Tempted to think that this gives us some clues into upcoming Directs, major game announcements and/or a re-vamp in the appearance of the Switch eshop.
Most likely none of the above!
@MeowMeowKins I like white.
@Deltath My New 3DS XL is actually faster than my Switch is at loading games...
@RevengeFan YAS
@idrawrobots huh? I guess it's just the time of day you play... I wake up early to play and go to bed late to play, so I want something easy on the eyes. But hey, it's a free country (or at least it's supposed to be)
I think that Nintendo should put some of their classic NES and SNES games on a physical Switch cart/digital game and sell it. That way they can make money off of the old stuff and wouldn’t have to worry about pirating illegal roms because of the price of buying old games on eBay... And they should do the same thing with GB/GBC/GBA games too.
@hotgamer77 Yeah. TBH, I was confused why they bothered to do this but one guy who decided to respond to me (not naming any names) decided to be a female dog about it.
@RabidPikachu yeah, but it's included in Nintendo Online and on the NES classic, along with the SNES classic. Plus, downloading them is super easy 😉. I'll give it to you on the GBA games though, but that's what virtual console on the Wii U is for
@hotgamer77 Wii U came out in November 2012, that's nearly 8 years ago. switch came out in 2017 just over 4 years afterward. That is not shortly afterward at all. I have been playing my Wii U more than Switch lately, until perhaps Metroid comes out. So it has some users, and online is free, even Splatoon still has a solid player base.
@DannyBoi what do you suppose it all means?
Hope they change the interface for the Switch shop.
Those are all the times I had planned on downloading stuff from the eshop.
I'm so sick of Nintendo doing nothing to improve the interface on both the home menu and in the eShop, sure both are fast but they're lacking. Arguably, after well over three years since launch and looking back at the 3DS, the experience of personalizing your device (through organizing with folders, and decorating with themes...the bare basics?) and navigating the Switch's UI has become very stale. Their progress has been nothing but lazy (through clear negligence and inaction) and there's been countless customer complaints about loads of valid issues that still haven't been addressed.
It's easy to lose hope as a Nintendo fan nowadays. I would like to be more positive here, but I've been waiting for a long time for the Switch to live up to the successful features of the Nintendo system precedents (Wii, Wii U, 3DS), but where there are things the Switch takes a step forward in, they take a step back somewhere else. Sigh.
@Judgedean youre funny
@PiggyDan16 where still complaining over how the switch looks my guy nintendo doesnt care about your outcries the switch has 61 million units simplicity leave it alone go back to 2012 where there was music and everything was flashy dude all i want ism y game my dlc in and out. thats what it does
@FargusPelagius bro i have a switch and a PS4 i have spent way more time on my switch then PS4.
@RabidPikachu my guy the nes mini and SNES mini came out why on earth does everything and the cats mom need to be on the switch as long as we have access to it
@NintendoPok so they can play in bed
@NintendoPok I have an Xbox X, Wii U, 3DS and Switch. Switch is barely used at moment. Even my GameCube gets more use. Different gamers.
@NintendoByNature I don't know. Something to do with Eshop. But it could be to do with the console itself. It does cover things on th e Eshop(use of downloadable software use of prepaid codes and download software). They are quiet.
@DannyBoi almost too quiet, like they're prepping for something huge
@NintendoByNature Yeah, something is going on at this point. Sony and Microsoft are talking about new games coming out on ps4 and Xbox one. And talking about the new consoles that are coming out. Nintendo are saying nothing.
@NintendoPok
Unfortunately Nintendo's priority is all about sales numbers and not for the benefit of the user experience.
@Kiz3000 How does this confirm a Nintendo Direct?
@Judgedean How does this confirm a Switch Pro?
