Ubisoft may not have collaborated with Nintendo since Starlink: Battle for Atlas but in its latest quarterly financial report it has revealed once again that it's the top third-party publisher on the Switch.
This sales success has been driven by games such as Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle and series like Just Dance, according to Ubisoft's chief financial officer, Frederick Duguet.
“We’re also reaping the benefits of the Switch’s huge success and our position as leading third-party publisher on the platform thanks to, among others, our Just Dance games and Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. The depth and breadth of our catalog, which goes beyond the brands mentioned, provides us with ever-greater visibility and continues to be a strong driver of profitability.”
One of Ubisoft's latest releases, Immortals Fenyx Rising, is also apparently performing well on the platform - contributing to the French video game giant having its best month ever at the end of last year.
It's unlikely Ubisoft will lose this title of the top third-party publisher on the Switch anytime soon - with annual releases like Just Dance expected to keep coming. In saying this, it's not entirely clear at the moment what else it has planned for the hybrid platform in the future.
Recently there was some excitement over the official Rabbids Twitter account tweaking its name that was then undone and there have also been multiple listings for a Switch version of The Prince of Persia Remake.
Have you contributed to Ubisoft's success on the Nintendo Switch over the past year? What games did you buy? Tell us down in the comments below.

Okay they need to bring Brothers In Arms and Red Steel 2 back. That's all I want.
I got Immortals in december.
Before 2020 I got Trials Rising(which I put 200 hours into. I love that game.), Mario+Rabbids, Wheel of Fortune, South Park Fractured But Whole. (I got Jeopardy too, but it's multiple choice structure ruined it for me. Maybe it's a rash or dumb conclusion, but I haven't touched it since.)
Well say what you will about them, but I am happy that their Switch support is lucrative for them. It is still kinda annoying how little regular third party the Switch get.
I think I'll probably get just dance while it's on sale. My family loves playing it
I don’t have a single Ubisoft game on my Switch.
Ubisoft also lead in covering up for and protecting bad people. A fact which shouldn't ever be forgot.
Ubisoft are consistently good at supporting Nintendo. Mario + Rabbids is a great game and their ports are usually very good. I'll be picking up Immortals eventually.
I have purchased Rayman Legends, Starlink and Mario + Rabbits. I have started checking their Ubisoft site because they sometimes have better deals there, but I already owned a lot of the other titles I would be interested in on other systems.
I don't really have any Ubisoft games on Switch, nothing came to interest.
I wish they port Rayman Origins to Switch too. While Rayman Legends was good, Rayman Origins was the one that brought 2D Rayman back from the brink after the many horrible 3D entries.
Q : Have you contributed to Ubisoft's success on the Nintendo Switch over the past year? What games did you buy?
My answer : Well, i bought these games from Ubisoft:
1. Imagine series on NDS
2. Dog Island Wii
3. Gold's Gym Cardio Workout Wii
4. Wheel of Fortune + Jeopardy Switch
5. Hamsterz Life NDS
6. Petz Fantasy 3DS
7. Mario + Rabbid Switch
8. Motionsports Adrenaline PS3
I really wish Imagine and Petz series make return on Switch or other consoles as Microids have their girlie / casual games (My Universe series) on multi consoles just like Imagine / Petz series by Ubisoft.
@Darknyht I did buy those same games, all around good ones
@Anti-Matter Have you tried the demo for Trials Rising? Someone should keep @WoomyNNYes and I company in the acrobatic motoring department...
@COVIDberry
I'm not interested with Trials Rising.
Not a fan of realistic motor bike racing.
I'm different.
I have interest with casual games.
I have to say, Starlink and Mario+Rabbids are great games, and I highly recommend them. I also have Immortals, but started getting bored with that after a couple of weeks. I was sold on it as a Zelda clone, but it just doesn’t have that Hyrule mojo IMO. Hopefully they will bring the Splinter Cell series to Switch someday too.
Great. Now put Rayman in Smash.
Why would Nintendo not add an Ubisoft rep if they're having this much success on their platform?
Will be interesting to see if Mario + Rabbids ever gets a sequel as that is the biggest non-indie 3rd party Switch game outside of Minecraft.
If Ubisoft was really smart, they would have released Mario + Rabbids 2 on Switch last holiday to capitalize on the lack of a gigantic Pokémon-sized Nintendo holiday title.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi Doesn't Legends include like every Origins level except for Land of the Livid Dead, though?
I wonder if we will ever get a sequel to Mario plus rabbids ?
I’d be up for that.
You know what would make them more money? A port of Rayman: Origins. Rayman Legends had some, but not all of the levels. I need that game on Switch. (Even better, a new game) @not_soos It is missing a few. It has 40 of 66.
Beyond Good & Evil HD would be nice, since the Switch sure isn't getting the sequel... assuming it comes out at all at this point.
A new Rayman game would go so nicely on Switch. Make it happen Ubi.
Ok, since they're apparently in such a good spot on the Switch, can we get more of their back catalog now? Rayman 1 - Origins, Beyond Good and Evil, AC Desmond Saga/Unity & Syndicate, any Far Cry game, Watch Dogs 1 & 2, any Prince of Persia game, I'd happily buy all of these games on Switch, but none of them are there.
I've had some Ubisoft games for Switch, but have sold most of them. The only ones I've kept are Rayman, Trials Rising and Mario + Rabbids.
@Anti-Matter Trials Rising is not very realistic, I would say.
ubisoft is rayman, without rayman i don't have any affaction with the company.
15 years ago the company was great, dunno what they doing eversince, even the creator of rayman origins and legends left, every little magic they stood for is gone.
@Yanina There is only so many games Panic Button have time for every year.
And besides. Switch is only a add-on console for millions of PC, Xbox and PS gamers.
If you are stuck with one system which is also the weakest, you are not allowed to complain about this.
PC get's all Xbox exclusives, and partially Sony exclusives.
Overall the best third party system today for gaming
On top of it, PC have Game Pass too..
One statistic missing from this article is the fact that despite their success on the Switch, it still only accounts for a small percentage of their business overall. Like between 13%-15% over the last few years iirc
Kinda surprising considering they don't release most games for Switch.
Just Dance seem to be a huge seller on any Nintendo system since since Wii.
Perhaps UBI will port more to Switch now.
I can see why AC Valhalla and Ghost Recon Breakpoint is not portable.
Please can we have a new rayman and Mario+Rabbids on switch ubi?!
All I want from Ubi is some of their Western AAA games like Far Cry and Secondarily a sequel to Mario + Rabbids, already.
i want watch dog legion on my switch with rtx enable
They should port the Watchdogs games
@JR150
Dang, I hadn't thought about how great Red Steel II would look and play on Switch. They needa get on that.
It would be nice if they started bringing titles like Far Cry or Brothers in Arms to the Switch. I really want something like Far Cry 3 onwards in it, there arent that many full 3D open world games on the Switch and Rockstar dont seem to want to bring their ones over.
Very well deserved I think. I’d like to see ac origins or an ac switch exclusive or another Mario rabbids although I did actually love the dk dlc more than the original game. Splinter cell would be cool an exclusive far cry lists endless really
@Pod
Hopefully they add options for button controls but motion controls would be seamless with the joy con. Then maybe we could get a third game...
This year I’ve played Assassin’s creed rebel collection, starlink battle for atlas, immortals fenyx rising and valiant heart, Ubisoft gave very good playing time this year and with great discounts it didn’t cost me much.
Ubisoft has always been pretty good about supporting Nintendo systems though I tend to buy its games on other consoles but I did get Immortals: Fenyx Rising for the Switch. Would love to the Red Steel series return. A third entry is long overdue.
Given the success, I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to start streaming games outside of Japan.
Ubisoft why are you taking so long to release on Switch a brand new 3D or 2D Rayman game on Switch and a sequel of Mario+Rabbids?
We won't be getting another Red Steel any time soon. The first one wasn't very good and neither sold very well.
I thought Immortals was amazing and I'll probably get roasted for this but I think it's just as good as BotW and in some ways even better.
Good going Ubisoft.
I'd be up for Far Cry 3 or 4, presumably the Switch could cope
Time to stay ahead and work on Zelda + Rabbids: Hyrule Battle. That crossover would make so little sense, I'd have to buy it day one.
I wonder if Square Enix is number two on the list of top 3rd party publsihers? Or would an indie publisher be in second?
@westman98 : "If Ubisoft was really smart, they would have released Mario + Rabbids 2 on Switch last holiday to capitalize on the lack of a gigantic Pokémon-sized Nintendo holiday title."
I can imagine there will never be a sequel to Mario&Rabbids. I was thinking about why there's no sequel already for some time now and there's only one thing I can explain it with:
UBI got the license for this one title only. If they had a license for a 2nd title it's my believe we would already have a 2nd Mario& Rabbids. Following this theory it would be up to Nintendo to move.
A bit of conspiration of course. I don't know anything.
One of my favorite third party publishers! I’ve been hot and heavy on Immortals since Christmas. Besides Immortals, I own: Mario + Rabbids, Rayman Legends, and both South Park games. Sure wouldn’t mind playing Watchdogs on my Switch, either, if they were to bring that over.
@Anti-Matter Trials Rising has a silly side to it. If there's a demo, I really think you might like the game. The controls are simple, and the easy & medium difficulty tracks could easily have fit into the Motionsports Adrenaline game. If you try it, set throtlle to the analog stick. If it's not fun, just delete it But I think there's a good chance you'll like this game.
If you like & get the game, finding the golden squirrels is fun too.
@WoomyNNYes
Did you know what was my first thought after playing Mountain Bike from Motionsports Adrenaline PS3 ?
I was thinking it was like Runner games (Pepsiman) with 3 way choices (Left or Middle or Right). 😅
The gameplay was not so adrenaline pumping. It was really casual.
And did you say Golden Squirrel from Trials Rising ?
I will check it out.
@Anti-Matter Yeah, Trials is similar enough to a runner, that you may like it. There are golden squirrels hidden in many tracks. On the game's world map, press L to open the filter window, and select "collectables" to see which tracks have golden squirrels. Sometimes squirrels are hidden on cliffs below, or very high. The high ones can be gotten if you make the rider jump off the bike. Also try riding backwards at the start, sometimes funny things are hidden there.
Leading publisher? I don’t know but they released less games for the switch then square Enix and some other companies even if Nintendo published some of them. I am not saying quantity over quality but some of the Ubisoft games are lesser games or ports. The only games that have stand out from Ubisoft is Mario and rabbids, immortal fenyx, and maybe that rayman game. That’s it. They even canceled a game that I was kinda looking into early when the switch came out I think. I don’t like Ubisoft much at all, they are almost like EA to me. Square Enix is the best switch publisher to me but that’s my opinion
Meanwhile EA continues to ignore the system because they have no faith in it. We'll see if that changes
Mario + Rabbids was great fun and I hope we see a sequel. I'll be picking up Immortals at some point as well.
I will pick up a Ubisoft game eventually on switch. They should add Watch Dogs 1 to the platform and many other previous gen games.
Ubisoft is a good supporter for the platform which I am happy but I hope for some of their more games to come as well
@anoyonmus I don’t feel so bad buying Mario Rabids and Fenyx Immortals for near full price bc they have been good to Nintendo.
@andrewclear hmm idk. I am guessing these are the top 3rd party publishers on switch.
Ubisoft, Square Enix, Capcom
Answer:
Both South Parks
Mario & Rabbids (DLC pending...)
Trivial Pursuit Live
May get Fenyx, backlog permitting
Assassin's Creed IV and Child of Light...on Wii U
Great games (with the exception of Pursuit, that was shockingly disappointing...like, how do you F_dge that concept up?); as mentioned above, hoping for more support in the form of Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed and Far Cry games that haven't been previously released on Nintendo consoles...
