The festive soundtrack you never knew you needed has arrived in the form of A Merry Hyrule Christmas, a Zelda tribute album that blends some of the series' classic tunes with Christmas carols.
Produced by Eric Buchholz, who was also responsible for the hour-long arrangement album Hero of Time, this new record features grandiose orchestral performances combined with more contemporary rock stylings.
It's available right now across all your favourite music storefronts. Check out the tracklist and have a listen for yourself below:
"A Merry Hyrule Christmas is the first album to combine music from The Legend of Zelda franchise with classic holiday tunes of various genres," says producer Eric Buchholz. "We have Zelda music with a Christmas twist, as well as Christmas music with a Zelda twist!
"My goal was to create an album of videogame music that could blend in seamlessly with classic holiday tunes. I love the idea of folks being able to 'trick' their parents, grandparents, and family into listening to videogame music—without them realizing it!"
If you're fed up of all the usual Christmas songs, why not put this on over the holidays and see if anyone else in your family questions it? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

OH this is nice I love it happy Holidays everyone.
Are these actually licensed? I kept seeing that claim about Hero of Time in their marketing, but from all the pictures I've seen of the packaging I couldn't find any evidence of it. They've mostly been renders though, maybe it's on the actual product or I'm missing something.
Hero of Time was a great album so will certainly give this a listen - not sure if my partner will appreciate it if this is played during Christmas dinner tho!
Is the kid in the last song the same annoying kid from 51 Worldwide Games?
This would be so cool to have in breath of the wild on holidays, snowpeak mountain having christmass, everyone having fun playing all together, ganondorf getting al friendly and dresses as santa sending gifts (calamity) to all people, and coocking some goblin guts for everyone to eat, what a nice villain. 😂
Darn, not on Apple Music here in the Netherlands
Edit; okay it is after going to the iTunes Store listing and there click on the Apple Music link.
Din Rest Ye Merry Deku Shrub is pretty sweet - sounds like something from Cadence of Hyrule
The Twelve Days of Christmas version on the album is insanely annoying
Oh my... please turn it off.
Awesome! Vinyl or CD please!
I...might give this a shot when I'm wrapping gifts later this month. That or I'll default to the Christmas Metal playlist on Spotify again.
It's on YouTube Music
Currently listening to it. Really liked the first track. I wish the rest of it was instrumental only.
Edit: Just finished it and it was definitely quite a treat. I could use instrumentals of tracks 2 and 4. Didn't care for the singing. That last one needs an animation.
I'll listen to this until I die
@BongoBongo "The Twelve Days of Christmas"
Reminds me of Alvin Chipmunk Christmas. Which is the album my family has listened to every year for like the past 40 when we open gifts Christmas morning. You wouldn't like that either, but I can't help but think this song is based on that album.
@Radbot42 Yeah, they kind of lose their appeal when the vocals kick in, bummer. Though Dragon Roost did a good job of making a Christmas version of Dragonbourne from Skyrim.
My wife pointed out Deku Shrubs sounds like "Christmas in Sarajevo", and it really does.
the Kakariko one in particular was awesome! Now it's Christmas time!
I love this, genius! I especially loved the two Majora's Mask tunes. OoT and MM always remind me of Christmas day, I have fond memories of getting the gold editions and playing them all day Xmas 98 and 2000.
I'll leave O Sacred Light and Twice Days off Christmas off my playlist.
I have listened to most of the songs on the albun above and I have enjoyed quite a few of them! I feel like the people who made these songs hit the nail on the head with nailing Christmas Zelda music. Very good stuff.
You use the term „cringy“ for it in English, right?
Edit: But „Silent Knight“ is a pun nobody could resist.
I actually wrote Eric on Twitter to suggest "Tingle Bells" to be added.
just listened to the whole album. the lyrics are so cheesy and i love it. will be playing this on christmas.
silent knight just may be the most clever title i've heard in a while.
@Quarth i'd sell my soul for a vinyl of this honestly
Well now I know what my background music for studying will be for the next 27 days
I'm amazed how well Kakariko works as a holiday song. Definitely goes into my Christmas playlist now
These are Christmas songs i can get on board with!
"But won't the name confuse people?"
"Y E S"
I love this
I'm sorry, but this will always be the first thing that I think of when I think of Zelda Christmas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2ZAVR_np3E
The 12 Days of Christmas one was a lot of fun.
It even has a surprise reveal at the end.
If there is a LP or CD to buy I am in. Digital music I can listen for free on youtube...
Will definitely be playing it over the holidays!
to be fair, its a bit of a stretch to call it zelda christmas. i cant hear hardly anything zelda related on any of the tracks. sad. cash grab at best.
