@BenoitRen You're right of course, but to be fair to the writer it's a very confusing series. I can see why someone unfamiliar with it would get mixed up while writing a quick news story.

I have the physical for the DS release of Shiren the Wanderer and the special editions for Shiren 5 on Vita and Switch. I hope there's a special edition for Shiren 6 too!

The only time Nintendo will need to worry is if Apple finally decides to dip its toe back into gaming. Then it could be a real competitor but this won't take off.

Anyone know how they attach to the front screen? Magnets like iPad etc perhaps or some kind of adhesive setup?

Glad to see the Sniper mode back. It's literally the only interest I have in Fortnite, I really enjoy it. Otherwise I don't bother playing it.

Just ordered the standard version, only $6 shipping to Europe. Makes a nice change from most US firms that overcharge for shipping - I'll use Fangamer again

I reckon they were just testing stuff, checking out the feasibility etc. Can't see it happening, but if it did, it would surely be tied to a fun Labo project rather than a "real" VR system like Playstation's.

Nintendo will have all kinds of stuff in the works that may or may not come to fruition.

This bodes very well indeed for better Square Enix RPG support on the Switch.

I'd love to see a Bravely Default/Second collection and then Bravely third, as well as some older Final Fantasy games on there.

Reminds me of that Polish-developed game that was reviewed on here not too long ago. It featured a knight made of stone or something.

It's a shame but to be fair you can't blame him after Chicken Wiggle did so poorly, I imagine a small studio like that has to be pretty ruthless with where they use their time and money or they'll go under.

Not really into these types of games but really glad that there's a studio out there trying something different like this. Might even give one of them a try.

Hopefully this convinces Square Enix to invest more heavily in the Switch and start ramping things up with more RPG's.

I pre-ordered it and am six hours in so far, it's flying by. Loving it up to now.

I only use my Switch in handheld mode but can see why a device like this would appeal to those who like to take theirs to friends' houses a lot. The original is a little cumbersome.

That said, I'm surprised the story didn't mention the previous issues with third-party docks. Once bitten, twice shy, and all that.

Just finished dragon quest vii and golf story so I'm free to dive into Octopath Traveler. Three hours in so far and loving it!

Nintendo strikes me as the kind of company that does very little by accident. Most of its decisions, for better or worse, seem to this casual observer like they result from very careful planning and preparation.

I'd also like a podcast from you guys, would help foster a good sense of community and let us know a little more about the writers. Presumably Alex could host it.

That said, even as a Switch owner, I'd love for the 3DS coverage to continue as long as Nintendo itself continues to support it.

Kinda want this. So far the only game I've double-dipped on is Dragon's Trap but I'm very tempted, especially at that price.

Argh so excited! I actually skipped the second demo because I loved the first so much I wanted to wait and enjoy the full experience.

Excited for RPG maker, I wonder if it will have keyboard support (via the dock, I assume)?

Either way should be easier to type out text than the 3DS.

Looks interesting. I'm a big fan of the Zero Escape games, would be nice if they brought them over to Switch too.

I've always felt like trying Fantasy Life but never got around to it. Think it'll be my next 3DS RPG after I'm done with Dragon Quest VII.

@BlueOcean Good idea, thanks for the advice. I didn't think of using a torch for some reason. So, I'd love to say it didn't shut properly and thus isn't my fault but no, you're right, the screen is kept just about apart with the little nubs. I even tried squeezing it gently and couldn't get them to touch.

That really implies that it's my fault. I keep it in a case and goes in a small bag with nothing else pressing on it but maybe my little boy dropped it or something.

@BlueOcean Mine's the small one too, with the removable faceplates, and I try to look after my gear so can't understand why it happened. My old white DS is still pristine.

That Minecraft one looks pretty neat and I'm not really into Minecraft. I'm still considering importing a Japanese Dragon Quest-themed one but have resisted so far.

Does anyone know if the new 2DS solves that issue of marking the screen? Both my original 3DS and N3DS have vertical lines on the screen that are really annoying! I should have installed a screen protector but didn't think I'd need one.

Might actually back this. If so, it'll be the first Kickstarter project I've put money into.

Jeremy Parish's name being attached to it is enough to give me confidence that it'll come out in a reasonable timeframe.

I've only played it in handheld mode but I think it looks great on that little screen. Runs better than Doom and is a real blast to play through.

There are differences between this version and the PS4 of course, but it's not as bad as, say, the SNES version of Doom was.

I hope it does well. Nintendo fans have to do without AAA third party support usually. Hopefully Bethesda is finding it worth their while to put out these great games.

I'd welcome it and buy one even though I love my Switch. There's still nothing quite like true portable dual screen gaming - just keep it simple and offer us a N2DS style device with a better screen and backwards compatibility.

Wolfenstein 2 on Switch. I'm a lot more impressed with it than the review on this site led me to believe I would be (not saying reviewer is wrong! Just difference in opinion).

Also Golf Story and still plugging away on the wonderful Dragon Quest VII on 3DS, about 90 hours in now.

Our resident early bird has done it again and managed to comment first with a thoughtful and insightful contribution. Bravo!

I'd love a real version of Resident Evil 7 for the Switch but would rather play it like this than nothing (I don't own a PS4, Xbox or gaming-spec PC).

I was going to hold out for a physical version but the reviews are so good and it's so cheap that I don't think I can resist.
