Cult of the Lamb, the cute but evil Animal Crossing cult simulator, seems to be slaughtering the competition on the scene right now. Publisher Devolver Digital has bleated about the game's success today, revealing that Massive Monster's not-so-cuddly (or maybe very cuddly, depending on what your tolerance for sheep bloodshed is) has reached a milestone of one million sales.
That means one million of us have signed up to this woollen cult, and while this is a fantastic number in the game's first week, Massive Monster isn't settling there. The developer has been listening to our baa-ing and it and Devolver have acknowledged our "struggles" — which means it's aware of the bugs, glitches, and "all manner of fiendish things that must be eliminated".
Massive Monster is currently working on a patch to hopefully alleviate us fledgling cultists' problems so we go back to recruiting and slaughtering. And we'd love to get back as soon as possible because we loved our time with it — performance issues and bugs aside — giving it an 8/10 in our review:

And if you're not signed up to the cult yet, why not check out Cult of the Lamb's rather impressive accolades trailer — we're not the only ones who have jumped right in!

super well deserved, I've been looooving this game.
A certain purchase but only after a patch or two.
I'll be getting the Special Reserve physical edition next year as by then it will have been patched and their release includes DLC on the cart!
Ewe were pushing it a bit with the puns there, Alana. I've herd this one is really good though, which is a relief - would hate to think I'd get fleeced.
I’m still behind the fence for this one. Not sure when I’ll jump over it.
But if it’ll get improved I won’t snooze on it, you can count on me.
I won't lie, I wasn't sure about this game, I'm woolly glad it's not baaad though, maybe I'll pick it up sometime.
Definitely give it a go… after some patch work. The Switch version feels like it’s being tied together with spit and glue.
I am keen for this game. Has anyone played it on the Switch and could you please summarise the performance?
My mate has it on PS5 and he is loving it!
Loving every minute of it. I genuinely still haven't had any of the technical issues others are facing.
I'm just waiting for a physical version for Switch, already got this digital on Steam Deck.
@bozz Ah good to know!
Just bought it this afternoon, can't wait to play it tomorrow
@OorWullie Yes. I've got about 5 hours in, ~10 followers, and I'm most likely going to stop for now (although I don't want to!) Worst bug I've come across so far is I got a quest to marry a follower, went to marry them and they were not an option for the ritual. I failed the quest and my faith dropped to zero, which creates its own issues. Also had a few game breaking bugs. You're smart to wait!
@a_brave_new_geek There have been some complaints about the lack of 60FPS, but honestly I don't notice it. Plays fine to me. My biggest issue are the bugs, which I highlighted in a comment just above. Personally, I would hold off until the patch comes out because it can get wildly frustrating. Quest breakers, not being able to mine resources, etc.
@a_brave_new_geek I've also been playing on PS5 and it's pretty much flawless. I have hit a couple minor UI/UX bugs, but nothing that would ever detract from it.
Awesome game, easily indie of the year and one of the best games of the year
Been really enjoying this one. As someone who couldn't quite get into Animal Crossing, this was a pleasant surprise. The combat is fun and I really enjoy the rogue-like elements in the game. Its also just hilarious what they did with the whole cult theme
I may get it on Switch once it gets patched and stuff...choppy framerate and crashes would just constantly kill the mood for me and I'll end up going back to another game instead.
Aside from the Animal Crossing comparison, are there any other games that this one feels similar to? I'm super curious and would love something new to play but not if it leans too hard on RPG elements (leveling up elements, etc.).
I will buy it down the road. Sunbreak and the upcoming Splatoon 3 will have all my attention for a while
Pumping the breaks on big releases to go on an indie spree this Winter. This is topping the list along with Omori.
@commentlife Thanks for the heads up!
@Jamessmooth TY - I will cease and desist for now. God speed James whatever that may mean.
I want it on switch but not until its patched...trying hard not to just go ahead and buy it on PC and eventually on switch anyways😑
Another bogus review that doesn't follow NintendoLife's review standards at all.
With what I've experienced, what was discussed in the review, and what I've seen from others, this game is suffering from SERIOUS issues on the nintendo switch, which should merit this game a 4/10 at BEST.
The bugs are pretty bad, the worst one was when the game froze after winning a boss fight. Also the prisons are bugged, often in an incorrect state of occupied or not. The choppiness is often noticeable but not game breaking.
These bugs are at this moment too severe to justify the full price. I hope the patch releases very soon since the game is very promising nonetheless.
