Re: "New Players Won't Feel Alone" - Square Enix Partners With Google For AI-Powered Dragon Quest Companion

@Milk_ You need to calm down and stop generalizing, unless your only goal is to complain. We are aware that there's a large presence of people who will see nothing wrong with SE's actions, but we must operate under the assumption that we need our human peers to see the light. The amount of words necessary to explain to them that this is trash will make them opt out of our comments. So we give short and sweet "AI Bad" answers hoping that it will inspire them to research why we keep saying "AI Bad".

@dew12333 You asked someone else that if someone spends their life playing video games, and then goes and makes their own game based on the concepts of the games they were playing growing up, it's imitation, not theft. Imitation leads to iteration when done right.

AI wholesale steals the games you grew up with and jams them together without considering how the systems work together or how someone might engage with them.

If video games are a magic trick that devs put together for us for our awe and amazement, then AI is a YouTube video of that same magic trick. They've done nothing but package it and sell it back to you.

Re: Community: Which Switch 1 Games Benefit Most From Switch 2's New Boost Mode?

Zeeba

@Pillowpants I never paid for the update. My gaslit mindset is leaking in but I think it's perfect now. Something about it seems crisper and better put together. I think that it's lost when I go 4K.

But I noticed a similar cohesiveness in Pokemon Violet. There might be no visible improvement (someone said) , but the game feels much better to play. I'm experiencing elevated Pokemania now, and I haven't played Pokemon since Shield.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th March)

Zeeba

I was hoping to play Crimson Desert next week but that's not happening now because the physical game doesn't work out of the box.

Back to the Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy. I have 18 endings left, before I do the social aspects.

And Caves of Qud, my poor man's Crimson Desert (I'm so sorry for the comparison. You're so great and I've sullied your greatness).

And Minishoot Adventure with Ball x Pit. Games I can turn my brain off with.

Re: UK Charts: Pokémon Pokopia 'Undersupplied' At Retail And Falls Short

@CaptainQuo I don't like being called a numpty, but I do like that it's an insult I've never heard before. Kudos!
My point of criticizing you is to say that our avoidance of GKCs has "been working"? There have been murmurings of new cartridge sizes, but as I type this, I realize I have no concrete evidence to say that this is coming.
Your point was that you weren't even defending the cards, and I apologize for saying you were. You were saying, as you stated, that people with no other options will buy the key thinking it's at least "kind of physical". I want to kill this line of thinking.
And finally, I want to check your point about buying digital. I agree that it's pointless to purchase a product you're protesting, but I do think that if you want the game, digital is the best and only option for Pokopia.

Really, this is our first test on the GKC front, where a game gets glowing scores and you want to support the devs. I say buy digital, and hope you can get a physical later on if there's enough interest, backlash, or demand.

"Google, what's a numpty?"

Re: Nintendo "Cagey" About Letting Games On Switch 2, Wants To Avoid "Slop Fest"

Zeeba

I guess I'll be the first to say it: If the Hentai games were actually Adult games, I don't think I'd have a real problem. In fact, it might improve the eShop in terms of being an adult and using adult filters. But really, all it does is introduce the topic to the youth and provides nothing for adults. It's just AI garbage made to entice people to a risque game only to be disappointed.

I've got some adult games I could recommend, and if they were eShop games, that would be incredible; but for now, the Hentai games are a net negative for consumers, and idk what it does for Nintendo....

Re: Review: Caves Of Qud (Switch) - A Roguelike About Making Stories Through Unfathomable Systemic Interactions

Zeeba

Been playing since launch. Someone somewhere mentioned memory leaks, and my game has crashed three times thus far. But someone else mentioned patches.
All I want to say is that I am thoroughly enjoying this game but it is dense. Are you ready to read? If you hail from CRPGs or you hail from visual novels, I think you might be able to find the brilliance hidden in this game. Just be open-minded, as they say. The caves run deep. Live and drink, friends.

Re: Review: BlazBlue Entropy Effect X (Switch) - A Remarkably Over-Ambitious Roguelike That Goes Deep

Zeeba

I'm currently slowly wading my way into Caves of Qud. I'm starting to realize the subtle variations of games that call themselves this genre or that. Like, I loved Hades until I reached the end, yet I can barely begin Hades 2. I loved Enter the Gungeon, but could barely start Exit the Gungeon.
I have hopes for BlazBlue Entropy Effect X. I think that this could be my type. I only like Absolum when I'm playing with a friend that's enthusiastic about it. This genre has gotten too complicated, or does that just mean I'm spoiled for choice? I can no longer focus on one thing anymore, but I don't want to leave anticipated games out in the cold... At least until Crimson Desert releases... And then at least until Pragmata releases...

Re: Stunning 2D Adventure 'Neva' Is Getting An Expansion, And It's Cheap As Chips

Zeeba

@Zaruboggan I'm more conspiracy-minded I guess. It seems that Devolver Digital games have these problems. Since they're my favorite publisher, I get kind of screwed on their games in relation to Nintendo. None of my favorite YouTubers covered Cult of the Lamb Woolhaven, so I think that Devolver might have made controversial choices that have alienated them. At least their games are great...

Three days til Caves of Qud.

Re: Stunning 2D Adventure 'Neva' Is Getting An Expansion, And It's Cheap As Chips

Zeeba

I have a question. Who decides what gets on the eShop? Not like in general, but I have some examples. Neva Prologue is coming, but why can't I preorder it on the eShop? It was the same for Cult of the Lamb Woolhaven. It took two hours AFTER release for it to show up on the eShop. And my most recent is Caves of Qud. We know it's coming on the 16th, but there is no entry on the eShop at all, yet all the AI slop and ripoff games have previews, preorders or prominent slots?

Can someone please explain this?

Re: Danganronpa 2x2 Gets Fancy Physical Editions On Switch 1 & 2, Pre-Orders Live Now

Zeeba

@anoyonmus actually I'm pretty sure it is a Game Key-card. I'm too far gone to preorder collector's editions ever again. I would actually rather buy the regular game twice instead. To have a physical copy and digital copy. But not here, because I'm pretty sure it's a key card for Switch 2.

I still have 30 Hundred Line endings left.

Re: Nintendo Will "Carefully Consider" A Switch 2 Price Increase, Says Furukawa

Zeeba

I have a couple hundred Switch games and a handful of Switch 2 games. I saw this writing on the wall and I prepared for it. I like my Switch 2 but one does wonder if it was worth it? I think my backlog makes it worth it, but I've never had people be so obtuse to the idea of playing video games. I don't think the industry has done itself favors. Mergers, closings, cancellings, firings, dumb hats, overhype, live service, gacha, and Roblox.
Anyone I try to introduce to games, their eyes just glaze over. I think we've reached peak engagement. So I expect one of two things will happen:
1. The acquisitions stop and the existing companies respect their players time and money.
2. We pretend nothing is wrong and just throw more money on the dumpster fire and hope video games don't end.
