Re: Developer Survey Reveals Worrying Lack Of Interest In Nintendo Switch

Zach

If Nintendo finds a way to make a profit and keep in business, I don't mind Switch becoming a Nintendo-and-indies-and-occasional-3rd-party machine that I can play on the go. I also have a PS4 and the catalogue is so robust that it really puts things in perspective. I'd be kind of surprised to see Nintendo catch up. So I've stopped looking at this as a race between the consoles. It's sad, of course, to have less 3rd party options for my Switch, but it's not the end of the world. Nintendo isn't going bankrupt and my Switch isn't becoming less fun. When a 3rd party multiplatform game comes out on Switch, I lean toward the Switch version because of portability and because I want to support the publishers who gave it a shot. For those who can't afford both a Switch and another system, that's a problem, however, which really sucks.

Re: Deals: Nintendo Switch Upcoming Goodies For March And April

Zach

I preordered Lego City Undercover! Everyone says it's great and it looks great, they say they improved load times, I missed it on Wii U, co-op sounds fun, and I wanna support 3rd party efforts. This is me justifying an expensive purchase but I mean what I say! Also glad I got it with the Prime Preorder bonus. I don't know if I'd wanna get it for $60.

Re: GameStop Describes Nintendo Switch Launch as "One of the Strongest" in Recent Years

Zach

Just to add my own story to the mix, I had heard they'd have some Sunday March 5 at Toys R Us... I went there before they opened and was 7th in line. Turns out they had about 104 consoles altogether, more than enough for everyone who had lined up. I hope it bodes well for the future availability of the console for everyone else. The NES Classic Edition, on the other hand...

Re: Book Review: Nintendo 64 Anthology

Zach

At first glance this seemed like a really good purchase for me — I gobbled up all N64-related journalism back in the day — but I am more interested in the little funny development-side stories, how certain decisions were reached and things were discarded, problems during development and how they were overcome, etc. This sounds more like a glossy catalog of N64 games with descriptions and screen shots. Am I wrong? Is there something more for the development-curious reader? Sounds like a good book but not a must-buy for me.

Re: The Wii Is Getting A New Retail Game This November

Zach

The Wii is still much more popular than the Wii U in Mexico, and probably other countries. It has a huge install base that probably has a big overlap with fans of this show. It isn't at all surprising to me that they're putting out a Wii version, and I think a Wii version of this game would be far more successful than a Wii U version.

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 1st September

Zach

I mean, they said it would be a 3DS focused direct. I'd rather have them porting Wii U games to 3DS and making some profit than putting their resources toward making new incredible Wii U games. We have lots already. They didn't sell, but we can play them. Now, why is the 3DS mostly getting ports and the Wii U mostly getting nothing? Obviously all their major teams and resources are going toward NX games so they have a respectable launch.

@rosemo Yeah you really figured me out. It's because he's Christian. He really exemplifies the commandment, "Thou shalt say less agreeable things about gay marriage."

I wish I could be excited about this but my feelings about Doug TenNapel get in the way. Hard to separate the art from the artist sometimes.

Re: Video: We Need To Talk About Ghostbusters 2 On The NES

Zach

One sentence. It was one sentence in a story. Please tell me that some people here could make it past the first sentence without taking it personally and using the comments to describe why they're both a) not interested in or dislike the Ghostbusters film, or refuse to see it, and b) not sexist. Maybe that's true. Great! To the rest: it's not everyone, but some people need to ask themselves if they doth protest too much. After that, don't reply to me about it. Lock that answer away and revisit it in ten years, when maybe you've grown up a bit.
