The art in this magazine was so much fun. A very unique and memorable thing that you didn't really see much of in other gaming magazines or in modern net based publications. Although at the time I think I was like "I wish these were just screen shots!" but I was a dumb kid.
I went nuts one day and bought a ton of these on the Japanese eShop, thinking that it would be a little challenging but doable to play the text heavy ones with google lens translating for me. I was wrong! It was VERY challenging!
Excited to see someone struck a deal so we can play Harvest Moon in English again. Also excited to see any new NES games arrive. Pretty great update this time.
Just got to the true, ninth ending of the game, only to learn that there's a game breaking bug that happens right at the very end in the switch version
Haha I played the entire game and didn't realize until it was over and I looked it up that I was supposed to be pressing ZL or ZR to trigger delusions... ah well
I love INSIDE. To me the meaning is within the hidden ending, where the protagonist unplugs himself and the game ends. The game is about being controlled, either by the thing that wants to be freed at the end, or by the player themselves.
I'm really glad to see so many old faces come back to pay their respects. Back in the day he was a celebrity here, and it warms my heart that he's still remembered fondly from those days.
Philip was such an incredible part of this website. I got to know him a bit and he was such a kind, smart guy. What a devastating loss this is. Thank you NL for posting links to some of his works, I am glad that those who weren't around back then can read them and his legacy can live on.
I have been really enjoying Sonic Origins and the cool system of earning extra tries at bonus games etc instead of lives that you can run out of. I think all the shortcomings will not be apparent to the average player.
