Re: Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic Receives Much-Requested Touch Control Update

Yosti

@ferryb001 Weird. On the iPad version you can place the finger on the screen and then move the finger to pan around.

Atari said the update contains: "Players can now touch their screen to quickly access and adjust menus, place pathways and scenery, and construct coasters." So that doesn't mention pan around. But still weird, they should just copy over all the touch screen functionality because this Classic version which was first released on Android/iOS is a touch screen game in the first place.

Re: Stardew Valley Creator Doesn't Want To 'Close The Book' On Its Development

@TotalHenshin For me a complete on cartridge is fun to collect. But like others here said it is not always necessary or feasible. I do have physical games that I accept as complete that still have some minor unimportant updates. In the case of Stardew Valley Fangamer will probably release a physical version with 1.6 on the cartridge (currently it is 1.5) and I should be happy with that.

Revised consoles I normally don't care about but with the Switch I liked the better battery life and OLED screen when playing handheld. Previous consoles like the Game Boy Advance and Xbox 360 I only have the launch version.

@Monkeido Yes I prefer having everything on the cartridge if possible. Just thought that waiting a few years would end with a complete release of Stardew Valley. But it appears that is not the case. I just should buy it in the eShop some day. I also think with the Switch 2 coming up going digital makes more sense. It is indeed getting more uncommon for a game to release without any updates afterwards. Although my current collection of Switch games is like 50% complete on cartridge. Cool to have, but soon something from the past I expect.

@cedarhyped Didn't know that people can be so toxic here. Good evening

Just to be clear. I am not defending my own take at all. I just state why I probably never buy this game, what is wrong with that? I understand the developer and when I would develop a game myself with such success I wouldn't probably let go myself. So what is there to defend. It is not like I said something bad. I just prefer to play games that are finished. I also understand that fans that still play the game looking forward to new updates. Sorry if I have offended anyone lol.

Re: Xbox Is "Really Looking Forward" To Supporting Switch 2

@BANJO I have the Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One S. Also Game Pass Ultimate. Still haven't bought a current gen Xbox. I like the platform. But why are you torn? If you can play all those games on the Switch 2 you only need one console. Seems a win to me.

But maybe my take on it is different. I already saw no reason to buy a current gen Xbox. Most of the games I am interested in I can play on the Nintendo Switch as well. Also a lot of games still were released for the Xbox One. And the interesting games like Indiana Jones I can stream with Game Pass Ultimate. I am not attached to a specific console, but interested in the games only.

@yohn777 I have the European release which doesn't ask for updates when booting up the game. But that one does miss the DLC, correct. Have the Japanese version with DLC on the cartridge as well.

Indeed there is no problem, but I didn't understand why people here have to defend the choices of the Stardew Valley Creator in the first place lol.

Re: Stardew Valley Creator Doesn't Want To 'Close The Book' On Its Development

@Monkeido The game is not complete on cartridge if it still gets updates. It is a weird take. But it is ok if you like the game as it is. No reason for a defence. I understand it is his game and he can do what he wants with it. If he likes to support the game for the coming 50 years, good for him

Yes, I do have BOTW complete on cartridge. But it still possible I buy Stardew Valley and then it would make more sense for me to just buy the game digital.

Re: Rumour: Ubisoft Has "More Than Half A Dozen Games" Planned For Switch 2

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is one of my favourite games. The sequel I am enjoying less. But why would I be interested in a Mario Rabbids collection if I can play the older Switch titels via Backwards compatibility? Kingdom Battle still looks good to me for a 2017 game.

But in general I am not really interested in ports of games I already have on the Switch. I already played and finished them. And when I bought the games I was ok with the performance/quality of the game.

New games and ports that haven't released on Switch yet I am looking forward to.

Re: Sega President Shuji Utsumi On Sonic The Hedgehog’s Next Major Outing

I will just expect a bad game again. Why hype it? It is ok. Still play Sonic Mania and Sonic Origins from time to time. But if they want to make something great like a Sonic Mania 2 of some sorts that would be cool.

With the Sonic movies Sonic is more popular, but that doesn't result in better games and those games will sell anyway.

Re: Atari Hopes To Add Switch Touch Controls To RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic In The Future

Yosti

@smithyo It is an incomplete product. If you are talking about RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 or 2 then you are correct. But we are talking about RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic which was designed for iOS and Android in 2016. Touchscreen support always was a part of Classic. The Switch version has the same touchscreen interface design as the mobile version. I would only agree with you if they designed a new interface for controller support like the original Xbox version.

Metal Gear Solid never had a touchscreen version release? Don't understand the comparison. It's more like releasing Metal Gear Solid without controller support.
A perfect port of the mobile version of RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic for me is one that has touchscreen support.

Re: Review: Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic (Switch) - One Heck Of A Ride, But With A Few Leaves On The Track

Yosti

@EarthboundBenjy Yes it is the same version as on mobile, same interface which was designed for touchscreen input.

I asked them on social media why it has no touchscreen support and this is the reply I got: "We know people want it and hope to add it in the future so we'll make sure to keep you updated."

So hopefully it will be added someday Both control options would be perfect.

Re: Sony May Be Plotting A New PSP To Compete With Nintendo's 'Switch 2'

Yosti

The PSP was a great handheld and sold very well. The Vita was abandoned by Sony in a few years because they wanted to focus on the Playstation console? I don't see the next handheld play Playstation 5 games natively (not possible?) and I don't see Sony developing games for two totally different hardware specs (didn't work out with the Vita). Streaming PS5 first party games on the handheld seems more likely and then PS4 specs games native?

I don't see it compete with the Switch 2 because I don't think it will get the same focus from Sony. And it is years away. But more competition is good and the PSP and Vita were interesting pieces of hardware. Maybe we will see more first party games with a lower budget, less develop time with more focus on the creative side. A Daxter 2 would be interesting.

Re: Xbox Confirms It's Looking Into A Potential Handheld Device

Yosti

Great that there is so much interest and love for Microsoft Xbox on NintendoLife. I think there is room for more handhelds in the market. To me a handheld would make more sense than a Pro console. But I am probably fine playing games on 1 handheld. I like to buy the Xbox games on a Nintendo platform.

Re: Microsoft Talks About Extending Its Gaming Content To 'New Platforms'

Yosti

@SalvorHardin I agree with you in the sense that I am not very optimistic about future Halo games. Their pitch of “omg look at these graphics” doesn't seem interesting to me. But in theory there can still be a great new Halo game.
But my point was that despite how great or bad the new Halo games are it would still make sense to release The Master Chief Collection on more platforms. Everyone that wanted to play the original Halo games already bought them on Xbox One/Series in the last 10 years. Original Halo games on Switch would create new fans or people will buy the game again. It's extra money for Microsoft and no danger to their console sales because old games don't drive hardware.

Re: Microsoft Talks About Extending Its Gaming Content To 'New Platforms'

Yosti

I don’t see why Halo would be “red lines” if they would release the older games like The Master Chief Collection. That collection is 10 years old. It is not going to sell more Xbox consoles. Releasing it on Switch could create new fans and those people might be interested in newer games of the Halo series. Or people buy the collection again to play it handheld.

But I will just wait. In the mean time I can play them on my Xbox One S or PC. But I think it is just a matter of time before they release the (older) Halo games on a Nintendo platform.
