Re: Random: Switch Online Service Launch Has Caused All Sorts Of Issues For Chinese Players

Wolfgabe

@NewAdvent Cause most people probably dont have much of a clue about what really goes into making an online service work. You need servers in some shape or form. Nintendo Wifi Connection as well as the majority of Nintendo's online during the Wii and DS era was actually run through Gamespy's servers hence why Nintendo Wi Fi connection pretty much died when Gamespy shut down.

Re: Your Nintendo Switch Cloud Save Files Will Be Lost If Your Online Subscription Expires

Wolfgabe

This article is relatively poorly worded. Considering how PS+ works the exact same way it seems this article was just made to draw up clicks. Also according to Nintendo's support page there will be in fact a period for which you cloud saves will be kept even if your subscription expires even though they don't specify how long https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22521/p/897

Re: Nintendo Website Confirms Multiple Switch Games Will Not Support Cloud Saves

Wolfgabe

Bring on the angry complainers but really I fail to see why this is such a big problem. It's already been stated devs are free to decide whether or not they want to include cloud support which is perfectly fine. With Pokemon and Splatoon it probably is meant to prevent cheating and save scumming which was pretty rampant with splatoon 1.

Of course they could update splatoon 2 so that data is stored server side but that would probably require a complete overhaul of the source code

Re: Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 Design Director Laughs Off Question About Switch Release

Wolfgabe

@EightBitMan Just laughing off switch development isn't exactly what I would call a professional response. Also I can't help but ask is COD really that relevant anymore considering games such as Overwatch, PUBG, and Fortnite have kinda eclipsed it at this point.

Also the Switch managing to top the NPD sales charts and outsell the PS4 and Xbox One at several points is hardly what I would call irrelevant

Re: US Trader Rubs Salt Into Nintendo's Share Drop Wounds With $400 Million Bet Against The Company

Wolfgabe

@NewAdvent If you think red dead can easily outsell Pokemon and Smash combined you clearly underestimate the selling power of smash and pokemon. Not every game released has to be a major system seller either. What matters really is that Switch is receiving a consistent influx of quality titles. Yes 2018 isn't like 2017 but hoping it would be like last year is highly unrealistic. Still its a far cry from the Wii U days where we had to go for months with nothing noteworthy in between

Re: US Trader Rubs Salt Into Nintendo's Share Drop Wounds With $400 Million Bet Against The Company

Wolfgabe

@Razer I don't see how you can call their online service a mess when many of the details of switch online are still somewhat of a mystery. Also is the lack of netflix and youtube really a major factor considering you can easily access those services everywhere else also Switch does have Hulu you know. The reason they didn't include a web browser with Switch should be fairly obvious when you consider how rampant hacking via the browser was on Wii U

Re: Talking Point: Switch's Blazing First Year Means Fewer Games In 2018 Shouldn't Be A Concern

Wolfgabe

I think the complaining about the lack of games this year is somewhat overexxaggerated. Switch has still seen a decent influx of quality titles and I am finding plenty of games to keep me busy still. As the article pointed out at this point there is more than content right now to justify buying a switch. I think people often forget about the highly evergreen nature of Nintendo's own games

Re: Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aimé Hits Back At Analysts After Recent Share Price Drop

Wolfgabe

Okay the thing is analysts and investors don't seem to have a good grasp of Nintendo's strategy or the bigger picture here. Smash and Lets Go Pikachu and Evee will likely sell gangbusters this christmas. Also is it that hard to see that Nintendo has been putting less emphasis on E3 in recent years and for good reason considering they have multiple directs throughout the year.

As for Metroid expecting that game to release in 2018 was kind of pushing it to begin with. They showed that logo at E3 2017 because that was probably all they had to show of it at that point

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Summary From E3 2018 - Day One

Wolfgabe

I think the direct was good for what it showed. You can really tell they are going all in with Smash. I know Smash Bros isn't everyones thing but the people that don't care are probably far outnumbered by the people who do care. Its not hard to see why they wouldn't show something like Metroid or Animal Crossing considering those games are likely still in early development stages or perhaps Nintendo felt it would be better to talk about them in a future direct so they wouldn't get eclipsed by Smash

Re: Nintendo's Share Price Plummets In Response To E3 Direct

Wolfgabe

I don't understand why so many seem to think this E3 was terrible for Nintendo. They still showed off a sizable chunk of content as well as some unexpected surprises. Heck it looks like we are still getting some new game announcements right now. Personally I think people have been kinda spoiled from last years output. Let's Go Pikachu and Evee will probably sell like crazy and Smash has the capability to sell a lot of systems as well. Now some have claimed Smash didn't save Wii U but the difference here is people actually know Switch exists for one thing.

There is probably a reason they didn't show Metroid, Animal Crossing, or Yoshi probably cause those games are either not ready to show yet or they want to focus on them for a future direct.

At the end of the day they did say this E3 would be primarily smash focused and thats what they did
