Re: Editorial: Pricing Blunders Have Distorted The Narrative Around Nintendo Switch

Wolfgabe

I don't see whats so bad about the pricing considering that you are essentially getting a portable and a console in one plus the tech within the system itself is pretty advanced.

https://mynintendonews.com/2017/01/16/syrenne-mcnulty-a-nintendo-switch-developer-shares-further-details/

According to this dev Nintendo has the Switch set up in such a way that price cuts are possible while maintaining profitability.

I share some of the same thoughts as the author in that I can't help but get irritated seeing youtubers and naysayers in general latch on to any bit of negativity with little to balance out their arguments.

Re: Gearbox CEO Doesn't See Borderlands 3 Coming To Nintendo Switch

Wolfgabe

@ThanosReXXX Glad to see a few people here with some semblance of common sense. What exactly does he mean by communication breakdown? Considering how Nintendo was able to convince Bethesda to port Skyrim to Switch and EA to bring FIFA. I don't think they just told Gearbox to up theirs and dumped em. As a few others have said we aren't getting the full story here

Re: Investors React Negatively to Nintendo Switch Launch Details

Wolfgabe

@Marshi Except that PS4 and X1 have been out for several years at this point and they have had time to build their library in addition to several price cuts. You forget that PS4 was 400 dollars when it first launch and that didn't include games, accessories, and online subscription fees. With Switch it's obvious there will likely be more info to come in the next few weeks yet you act as if Nintendo has signed it's death warrant already

Re: First Impressions: Back on Track with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Wolfgabe

I find the self entitlement from people almost borderline disgusting. Do you people even realize this is basically a GOTY edition meant to appeal to those who likely never bought a Wii U to begin with? In fact I think it's a step above most other GOTY editions because they actually include entirely new characters and content in addition to all the previous DLC

Re: Breaking Down the Nintendo Switch Online Service Details

Wolfgabe

@Kidakairis MS has been requiring people to pay for online ever since the original Xbox. Subscription fees are likely for server maintenence among other things. Running online servers certainly isn't cheap and they need to recoup their costs somehow. Steam probably doesn't have a subscription because Valve probably makes enough money from sales already.

Also if you really think PS+ is much better go on their monthly blog updates and just look at the comments

Re: Breaking Down the Nintendo Switch Online Service Details

Wolfgabe

My the ignorance shown here is astounding.

Switch has a headset jack and there have even been ads for Switch headsets

You can still keep the games as long as you pay for them by the end of the trial period. Most NES games can be easily be beaten in a day or a month anyway so I don't really much of a problem here

I am also fairly certain you will still be able to buy VC games normally considering NEO GEO support has already been confirmed

Even without the subscription you can still access the eShop and share screenshots.

Also having a subscription based service can only mean good things if it results in improved online experience.

Also with PS+ you don't get to keep the games if you cancel your subscription. They aren't really free anyway

Why is it such a problem when Nintendo does something that the others have been doing for years

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Nintendo Switch Presentation?

Wolfgabe

300 dollars seems fair price considering the tech they are putting into this thing. For what is supposedly an Nvidia Shield on Steroids the games looked pretty impressive.

I don't really get the complaining over the paid online if it means better service. Sony and MS have been doing it for years. It was inevitable Nintendo would get in on the act too.

Translation could have been better but still it was nowhere near as bad as the Sonic Anniversary stream.

When was the last time really a console had a killer launch lineup. People say Nintendo hasn't learned anything but they kinda have considering BoTW is a launch game and the Switches first year is already shaping up to be miles better than the majority of Wii U's lifetime

Re: Nintendo Slams 3DS Homebrew App Which Enables Piracy With Takedown Notice

Wolfgabe

Oh boo hoo this guy should have known well what he was getting into. He broke user agreement and he paid the price for it. I can't believe people are actually defending this guy. It doesn't matter what his intentions were this basically could have easily opened a door to hackers and exploits. Nintendo had good reaosn to shut this down

Re: Eurogamer Report Suggests Nintendo Switch GPU Runs 60 Percent Slower When Undocked

Wolfgabe

Look at all the doom sayers here. I mean seriously people let's be real here. If Switch really was that weak I don't think third parties would be as positive about as they have been. Also there is the chance this info could be based off early development kits. I think it's basically impossible to make Switch less powerful than an actual shield since unlike a Shield it doesn't have to deal with a power sucking OS and such.

Power might not be as much of an issue this time if the rumors are true that porting to Switch is a breeze

Re: Nintendo's Share Value Plummets Despite Super Mario Run Downloads and Revenue Performance

Wolfgabe

It's kinda sad really the majority of those negative reviews are not even actual reviews at all just whining over how they have to pay 10 dollars for the whole game. Also from what I have heard app store reviews are like Youtube comments usually toxic and completely meaningless.

Mario Run costs as much as a basic meal at Mcdonalds hardly expensive if you ask me. I honestly think the reviews would be better if people weren't spoiled by Apples 99 cents for everything policy

Re: Review: Super Mario Run (Mobile)

Wolfgabe

@ProfessorToad I find it funny you people complain about having to pay 10 dollar for an iPhone game yet a lot of those people are the likely the same people who will happily blow hundreds of dollars on micro transactions.

I see no issue with this games price considering it doesn't constantly slap you with ads and pay 2 win BS. Not to mention it has a fair bit of quality and polish compared to the cesspool that is the appstore.

This is a Mario game that has been designed for the mobile crowd and it does it's job well

Re: Yooka-Laylee Rattles Away From Wii U Release

Wolfgabe

Not too surprising really. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to release it on a dead platform plus it also means helping flesh out the Switches launch lineup more. At least they are being forthcoming in this and allowing Wii U backers the opportunity to upgrade their pledge to a Switch version

Re: Video: Nintendo Shows Off New Area in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Wolfgabe

@WilliamCalley The Wii U can handle the game but of course some sacrifices had to be made. How exactly are the devs having their vision handcuffed if they are going to be releasing it on superior hardware meaning they will be able to achieve close to their original vision. Development on the Switch version actually started after the Wii U version from what I hear Also do you realize how incredibly pre mature it is to think the Wii U version will be the exact same as the Switch version.

The reason devs like Ubisoft get shat on more is that they are not the best at good optimization something Nintendo has been shown to be very good at. Optimization tends to be done in the final stages of development so there is a good chance this may have been an older build.

Also stream and video quality can make a game look worse than it actually is. The reason many 3DS games tend to look worse then they appear when shown on places such as youtube is mainly cause of it's 240p resolution which doesn't look good when blown up on a larger screen.
