I'm gonna say "false" on Pro Controllers not suffering the same drift problem, as I currently have two Switch Pro Controllers with drift on the sticks.

I've been playing it on my Steam Deck and it's definitely worth your time. You're not limited to making regular animals with the character creator, as you can mix and match parts, leading me to make a hyena-goat hybrid.
There's a ton of characters to meet, clothes to collect, and different cars to customize your train set up.

Man, this game will not give up. It's slowly crawling up to No Man's Sky in regards to bang for buck with every update. At least the expansions can offset the costs for all the extra content.

At this point, this man has created a niche genre of its own: the JCS (Japanese Childhood Simulator).

I've been missing Knockout City dearly. It's the only online competitive game I actually felt fairly competent at.

@boxyguy I think that's the Playdate. They are much smaller and niche, but still got a healthy little community of developers and players. Just like Nintendo, doing their own thing. As an owner of one, I'm quite happy with the role it covers for me (screen nicely visible in bright sunlight, small self-contained games, truly pocket-sized).

I had a bad experience buying a game at Walmart, where I was confidently handed a sealed copy of WarioWare: Move It!, and it wasn't until much later when I opened it that I realized the sealed case had no game inside, but a foam insert to make it look like there was a game if looked at from outside. A bizarre scam, pulled off by an unknown party.

@timp29 The Japanese actually see the word "gimmick" as positive, akin to "feature", so kind of a cultural difference.

Hoping the DLC goes on sale, and I may check it out during summer break.

Y'know, with a name like "The Spark of Imagination", I was expecting Figment to be involved. A bit disappointed that wasn't the case. That alone would get me to buy the expansion.

I really hope they kept the weird translations for these games. The original ones really did feel like the characters were on...uhm...Funghi, whenever they talked.

It is a fairly old system at this point, but I will officially consider it retro once the Switch successor releases.

I could argue that ownership of files themselves that one can copy and backup endlessly is more real ownership than even physical games. For digital downloads, if you lose the license, you lose the game. For physical media, if you lose the disc or cart, you lose the game. For files, if you have it properly backed up, you own it for as long as you have backups.

@nimnio As somebody who sings praises for No Man's Sky (and liked the game since launch) and cannot stand Stardew Valley...yes.

The support that his game has been getting really fills in the void that ACNH left once that stopped updating. I'm aware that the live service model doesn't work for just about every franchise, but with this one game, every new player has been benefitting of more content to begin with, with every update. All in all, I've been having an excellent time with Dreamlight Valley by picking it back up every time it updates, for a few days. That also helps ease up on the burnout that AC sometimes sets for players.

Hope they make some hunting boots! Puma has made some good boots in the past, and this collab would make more sense with some.

This game is pretty dang addictive, and it's honestly a must-play.

Alright, all we need now is Ace Attorney Investigations 1 & 2 collection. Hopefully they can reach a deal with the fan translation team on using their script. It's as good as official.

I do enjoy scrolly things myself. The Steam Deck (and Steam Controller, by extension) do use a pseudo scroll wheel through their touchpads, haptic feedback included, and they are real satisfying to use.

Honestly, it's a bit of a relief. November is packed and my backlog is huge. Gives me time to properly finish the first game, too.

I think their safest bet right now would be to buy Gameloft. They managed to spin a company that used to be known for trashy mobile games into a pretty decent developer for their recent gaming ventures, based on how quality Dreamlight Valley and Speedstorm turned out. Don't think they'd be that expensive to acquire, either.

For anybody who hasn't tried it yet, this update is pretty substantial. My previously 100% save dropped to 40% when I updated, and yeah, plenty new content is included.

@Munchlax You are right on the money on how I feel about retro games, thought I was the only one. As another DS/Wii era kids, Game Boy has held up much better in gameplay and feeling to me.

I'm really happy by the waves of quality content this game has been receiving. I honestly do not see it going F2P, considering what we've got in Early Access is worthy of being called a full game.

Again, it doesn't feel like this game merits being F2P, as everything that has been offered so far is worthy of a fully paid game, and hope it just stays like that.

I'm honestly not sure why people want this game to be F2P. This has been a really weird case where the game actually merits being a paid offering, and plays like a full game as well. The only F2P aspect of it so far is the cosmetic options that require Moonstones (the one premium currency), and there's many "full" games pulling this off nowadays.

I paid for this game back when it released and I've happily gotten my money's worth and then some.

Does that mean I can buy a knockoff shirt with one of these designs and then send the corresponding artist some cash?

But I do agree. Fix your game first, then you can have some DLC.
