@Royalblues Because you don't need to set aside 2 or 3 hours at a time for it, you could easily do 2 or 3 in game days within a short time span. This is how i played the original version, it took around 2 months as i had limited gaming time at the time but short bursts at morning and night was how i was playing it, fun fact if i had a Switch back then and it was on Switch i could have lowered it down to month or less.

Because it suits handheld play and the games can be enjoyed in short bursts.

@Silly_G I mean it is cheaper and your thoughts on if its on cart or not has no bearing on what the Expansion is and what it gives but i do know i've paid less then i would have if it was two games. As for value well the Expansion gives you around the same level of content as the base game plus more to come for free so its worth £36 i paid on the E-Shop. Anyway i'm a digital gamer now so i really don't care what the carts offer and if i did buy carts well i just download the update/DLC and play, end of the day with post launch patches and DLC them and discs are useless anyway.

@Silly_G Well prior to World that's what they did, they would charge full price for the base game and then full price for the Ultimate version but as DLC is now a thing they decided on making the "Ultimate" content a cheaper paid expansion. The price is more then fair as well considering how much they added and will add in future free updates.

Were IGN and Polygon expecting a new game? As for "bloat" well a big problem many had with Rise was the fact by MH standards it was short and lacking content so yeah "bloat" is welcome.

Been playing it all morning and its fantastic.

It was really solid. Portal same day release was fantastic, Persona finally hitting Switch is a dream come too and Nier coming to Switch is a nice suprise and a nice reason to replay it again.

Those Insect Glaive buffs sound lovely.

@RubyCarbuncle Think of this as MH Rise 2, if its like say Iceborne you are getting a sequels worth of content for that $40. In fact i wouldn't be shocked if the expansion contains more content then the base game.

Got it pre-ordered, hopefully we can pre-download tomorrow.

Yep i shell be getting this, fantastic games and full of wit.

The game is years away so i highly doubt its coming to last gen systems and i really hope it doesn't, it may come to Switch 2 but this Switch? No chance thank god.

@Pillowpants I love it when people judge HG and NMS based on the Day 1 version of the game and just ignore the past 6 years of endless free game changing updates that have completely transformed the game. Clearly the Switch can't handle MP and yeah i'm not shocked, in fact i am shocked though thst the Switch can run it at all.

That's a massive loss as the game is very MP heavy now even if you choose to ignore MP play, certain areas of the game will feel very lonely now.

Its still up as i'm downloading it.

@TheCrabMan Imagine defending a creature like Kotick. When there's been too many to count reports on how vile he and Activision is we can safely say he's guilty.

Hopefully once MS buys them he's out.

When Game of Thrones was on its 2nd season my Mum took an interest as it was super popular but wasn't sure if she would like it so i basically said its a bit like The Lord of the Rings (her favourite films) but more adult with toned down fantasy, now of course the show is nothing like TLOTR but it was enough to get her watching it and she became a massive fan until its dreadful final season came.

End of the day comparing things is a good way to describe something without needing to describe something. My Grandad loves Taxi Driver so i said if you loved that then you might like Joker and that was enough for him to at least check out the trailer. I mean don't most streaming services recommend you stuff based on things you watch the most?

Bugs aside its a fantastic game and easily one of the best Lego games out there.

@Dpishere Has as much chance as DMC V and RE Village in getting a Switch port.

Its unfair but at this stage what do you expect? Nintendo make it clear where they stand on these matters like it or not.

Prison is extreme yes but he should still be punished heavily, this isn't just dumping roms of old games for free on the net its outright stealing and making money from it.

@Arawn93 Base game of World i put into nearly 300 hours before Iceborne and base game of Gen was even more. Rise even by base game standards is very light on content and reasons to keep playing once you very easily get the build you wanted, there's not much challenge either and there's nothing to aim towards. Don't get me wrong its a great game but its one of my least favourite MH games and i actually spent more time with Stories 2 in the end.

@Pillowpants MH is a endgame heavy series, Rise has no Endgame hence why people are annoyed at the lack of content.

@JWesCampbell Well you have to download Home and Sub to it.

@ThomastheTankEngine Its more focused on exploring and catching and has a full 3D world, its not quite open world but more open zones. Visually its not great but it makes a lot of steps forward for the series.

Need more info on version exclusives but based on the Legendary its Violet for me plus its one of my fav colours.

@ThomastheTankEngine Monster Hunter Stories 2 done very well though calling it a PM clone doesn't sound right despite playing and feeling exactly like a PM game.

I've played a bit of it on PS5 and its pretty solid but being honest i'm not big on the monster designs. I do think though its going to be dead on Switch sadly though because a month or two after its launch a game changing new Pokemon gen launches that is giving us it seems the first full 3D true open world in the series.

@JWesCampbell Why? Competitive PM is on Sword and Shield plus if it was on Home it would require more steps.

@Grumblevolcano MW2 was coming regardless to PS because MS don't own Activision yet and have zero say over their current choices. Actually going by MS comments it seems Activision's library is not going to be tied to Xbox and PC only, they seem to want to treat it like they do Minecraft. Not only that both Sony and MS are being way more open to multiplatform, remember Bungie are staying multiplatform despite Sony buying them.

Considering its current gen only and most likely just Series S/X and PC i highly doubt its coming to Switch or even the Switch 2 because it will be very demanding no doubt and will most likely push the Series S

@Silly_G I wouldn't say its the best physical release at all because while may contain everything its still the "worst" version of the game.

@Diogmites Thing is Rajang should be a difficulty spike, i went in excited ready to push myself and well i didn't. I'm also an Insect Glaive main a weapon not suited to Rajang.

@Goat_FromBOTW I wouldn't say its been a NMS level turnaround because of how had MTX are in it plus the $100 sub but it is a far better game then it was, its solved a fair few issues and does feel more like a proper "Bethesda" FO game even if a lesser one, if you can get it cheap or have Game Pass i would recommend checking it out.

I really hope Sunbreak gives the game a proper endgame, while Rise is great its easily my least played MH game. I have my "perfect" build so other doing the odd event quest i've barely touched it since last summer. Doesn't help that the game is really easy, like the hardest fights here just feel like a lesser Elder fight in World and as a veteran its annoying. I'm happy the series is appealing to newer players but i feel like they made the endgame of what little there is just too easy when it should be when the challenge is felt. The fact i killed Rajang first time solo with zero carts says a lot on how "dumbed down" they made it at times.

Looks good, i'm pretty hopeful for this one.

About 6 years back i was homeless and was going between mates houses, friends of the family houses and various B&B's and this went on for about 6ish months. Safe to say it was a dark time but while i lacked most of my things what were in storage i did have my New 3DS and Hyrule Warriors, that game got me through that time and played a massive part in keeping me sane. Despite what VG haters say VG's can help a lot with mental health.

Amazing game and the Switch port is great, i really hope the rumored sequel is true.

@BloodNinja You should watch Internet Historian's video on the game and see what really happened. Sean didn't really lie in the way you think, everything he said would be there he no doubt hoped would its just he's a pleaser and positive guy who couldn't just admit the truth. I've been with the game since it launched and been on this amazing journey with it and its amazing community, i've got a good idea on who Sean is and his team and i know they never intended to disappoint and "lie" like they did. Ever since though its been update after update and zero paid content, the game is far more now then what they promised and the team base updates on what the community asks for, Sean doesn't comment on the lovely subreddit but he's always on there watching and reading comments and taking players pics and posting them on his Twitter. The game is so much more then anything else out there in gaming now and quite frankly its stupid to still be angry at them. They made a big mistake and fixed it years ago.

Its going to be interesting to see how this runs and much they had too cut back for the Switch version, its a demanding game nowadays.

Does make you wonder if the Switch 2 or whatever they call it could play a game like Cyberpunk.

@darkswabber That's not what the content is, its just all the creation club stuff and not the proper Mods what are free and actually transform the game. If it was the most popular Mods then the game at default would look a lot better on PS4/PS5, as it is if you want a better more alive and dense world you need to download the actual free Mods.

My fav weapon and have been using it since it was added.

@KnightsTemplar Considering how rare shiny PM are and how impossible to get Event PM are if you missed the Event then yeah Home is necessary.

Wish they would allow Duel Mode to be played Single Player with a Bot.

So excited, hopefully we see a massive challenge increase as usual.

Got a Swordsoul deck up and running with a Destiny engine in it for the new Hero and oh boy is it OP.

@anoyonmus Can't see a native port happening, the game is very demanding and has way more going on then DL1 has. It would take a massive downgrade and i don't think that would be worth it as the best thing about it is the big dense packed world.
