Earlier on, Capcom held a special 10th anniversary Dragon's Dogma video broadcast. At the very end of the presentation, director Hideaki Itsuno announced Dragon's Dogma II is currently in development.
"Sorry to have kept you waiting! Dragon's Dogma 2 is currently in development. Everyone in the development team is hard at work creating a game that we hope you will enjoy! Please look forward to it."
At the moment, no platforms or release date have been announced, but we do know it will be running on Capcom's RE Engine (thanks, Gematsu). Here's a bit extra, from the announcement page:

Mr. Itsuno recalls how his earliest experiences with high fantasy were thanks to classic pen-and-paper role playing games. This resulted in his love of RPGs as a whole, something that he would carry with him throughout his time working on arcade titles for Capcom throughout the 90’s. By 2000, Mr. Itsuno began to build out his own fantasy world, one that would eventually become what we now know as Dragon’s Dogma.
Touching on how the team built out the land of Gransys, the reason behind the game’s unique Pawn System, and the titles he worked on in between his initial concept for Dragon’s Dogma and the game’s release, we encourage Arisen of all types to enjoy Mr. Itsuno’s reflections on his time developing the original game and the thrill of the surprise announcement of Dragon’s Dogma II.
To celebrate this special occasion, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is currently on sale on Nintendo Switch and multiple other platforms. It's now the "perfect time" to explore the world of Gransys and ready yourself for what's ahead.

Also Crisis Core remake is coming to Switch, they just announced that
only have to wait a few years for dragon dogma 2...
Awesome. Can't wait to play it on my New Super Nintendo Switchi XL a generation after its original release.
Since it is utilizing the RE engine like MH Rise is it could possibly come to the Switch somewhere down the line but until that announcement happens I am going to assume it is mainly going to be on PlayStation/Xbox.
I don't know why but I couldn't stay into the first game...I mean, I saw the similarities it had with MH, but...eh. I still found it kinda boring.
Still yet to pick up Dragons Dogma for my Switch, on my list of physical games to get.
By the time I do the sequel might be out.
Good news.
Definitely looking forward to this. If not on Switch then on PC.
I'm so excited about this. I really enjoyed Dark Arisen.
I really wanted to like DD after so much hype but I thought it was a very empty game. Also the levels of your characters and the enemies never matched, it was like Kingdoms of Amular, empty big world with no balance to anything
We hereby announce...a logo.
i hope its as good like the first one need to replay that one again.

Capcom you’ve done well.
Finish the cycle of eternal return…
I doubt this come to switch, it looks like a project for ps5 and xbox series x.
I hope it comes to the Switch. If so, Day 1 purchase here. I am still loving the 1st one!
@Moistnado Reminds me of Metroid Prime 4! 😆
I tried so many times to get into the first game, but always end up overwhelmed about what characters to choose, what to do next and how to get from point A to point B. It looks like a fun game, just didn’t click with me.
I am thrilled I tell you. THRILLED! I’ve been praying to the gaming gods for years, for exactly this. Please bring back the Magic Archer with the ricochet shot and rivet bolt. Please and thank you
Finally! Now I can stop buying the first one over and over again while hoping that Capcom would notice a certain demand for a sequel.
I'm currently playing DD for the first time and really enjoying it. I actually prefer it over Skyrim. Fantastic game that definately has it's epic gaming moments. Hopefully the sequel somes to Switch...but I'm not holding my breath.
@SteamEngenius monster hunter rise uses the same engine so yes switch can handle this game.
Yes! Haha! Amazing. This is now my most eagerly awaited game
Can’t wait to play this in about 10 years
I just bought the first one on sale. I had to battle through the opening few hours to wrap my head around it. It is a dense and confusing game. I’m glad I did as I am really loving it. It has a really good, dark fantasy sense of adventure. Almost LoTR-like in vibe in some parts.
Can’t wait for the sequel now. Consider me converted.
@Joeynator3000 Same here. I played Dogma after Dark Souls. The stiff combat, excessive fetch quests and the annoying banter from party members made me put it down.
Downloading it for the 3rd time on Switch. Going to try yet another time to figure out how to play it.
What really annoys me is that you can't seem to wait like in Elder Scrolls or Fallout, but have go into the night where it's extremely dangerous because you can't see from the distance where the enemies appear. A big flaw in the game IMO.
Other than the Switch port is a bit so, so.. There's quite a bit of pop-in of graphical assets. But I will give it another try because I've heard that combat should be good (but being an RPG it's of course a pretty complex game overall so IDK..).
We'll see I guess .
@Dpishere Has as much chance as DMC V and RE Village in getting a Switch port.
No switch release?
FINALLY! CAN'T WAIT FOR DRAGONS DOGMA 2! I SPENT AGES ON THE FIRST!
NOW JUST MAKE IT CO-OP MULTIPLAYER!
I can't really get into the first game.
I probably waited too long to buy it after it first came out as the visuals aren't great anymore and the gameplay just isn't much fun.
Looking forward to seeing if 2 interests me enough, 4k alone ought to at least make it visually appealing.
I guess I need to play the first one finally
@shgamer the darkness of the world is part of the game design. You need to either lantern up, only go out during the day (until you get better at the game) or learn/listen where creatures spawn at. The game tells you early on that night time is dangerous. Wait till you hit bitterblack which is often pitch black and Death is chasing you.
Capcom, come on.... some Breath of Fire, PLEASE.
This is awesome. But prob won’t come until 2031 😂
