Update [Wed 18th May, 2022 02:45 BST]: The Pokémon HOME Version 2.0.0 update is now officially live on the Nintendo Switch. At the moment, the servers are still undergoing maintenance, so you may not be able to access the app.
Original article [Tue 17th May, 2022 03:00 BST]: At the end of last week, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo announced the cloud storage service Pokémon HOME would finally be receiving an update to make it compatible with the most recent entries in the series Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
While an exact date wasn't shared, it seems like we'll be getting this anticipated update around 18th May (UTC time). As highlighted by Serebii.net, this update will bump the app up to Version 2.0.0 - and add connectivity for both of the newest games.
"It has been confirmed that Pokémon HOME is to undergo maintenance tomorrow May 18th from 00:00 UTC to 06:00 UTC on May 18th. This maintenance coincides with the release of Version 2.0 on Switch and Mobile which includes connectivity and features for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl and Pokémon Legends Arceus. It will run with staggered logins to ease server load until 01:00 UTC on May 19th 2022"
In case you missed the original announcement, here are some fine details about transferring Pokémon from these games to HOME:
Linking to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl
Players can check on the condition of Pokémon deposited from Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl to Pokémon HOME as well as their other details. Please be cautious of the following when connecting Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl to Pokémon HOME.
- Special Pokémon that can only be caught once during regular gameplay can only be deposited once per save data to Pokémon HOME.
- Some Pokémon, such as those obtained through unintended means or by illicit modification, cannot be deposited into Pokémon HOME.
- If there are any other problems with the Pokémon, it cannot be deposited into Pokémon HOME.
Linking to Pokémon Legends: Arceus
You can view the effort levels of Pokémon deposited from Pokémon Legends: Arceus to Pokémon HOME as well as its other details.- The objective of Pokémon Legends: Arceus is to help compile the first Pokédex in the Hisui region. As such, the National Pokédex in Pokémon HOME will update its Pokédex entries based on your completion of the Pokédex in your Pokémon Legends: Arceus save data.
- If a Pokédex entry in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is incomplete, you will not be able to see that Pokémon’s entry in Pokémon HOME.
Additional Achievements and Stickers
Players can obtain stickers by completing achievements by meeting certain conditions in the mobile device version of Pokémon HOME. New achievements and stickers based on Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, and Pokémon Shining Pearl will be added from version 2.0.0 onwards.
There'll also be some new mystery gifts to unlock if you transfer your Pokémon across from the new games. You can learn more about this incoming update in our previous post, and we'll update date you when the new version of HOME goes live.

Whew… finally. I’ve really been waiting for this, I wanted an excuse to boot up arceus again. My only experience with HOME has been through Pokémon Go, and I’m somewhat excited to use it for its primary purpose, to transfer Pokémon from game to game.
YAY can't wait to put my Pokemon into a box to sit forever....
Good news. Been holding off on doing the battle tower in BDSP since I have a decent amount of good IV/EV trained mons in Home.
Is this really necessary. Pokemon home that is. When i play pokemon i dont instantly think, ya no what, i wanna use my bulbasaur from gen 1 to get me through this game. I start from scratch and enjoy the experience. I have no long term bonds to digital creatures.....
@KnightsTemplar for me I like having my whole collection in a single HUB… not across 18 games.
I don’t transfer them to new games though… I like starting from scratch.
But thats a fine line, because, since I have my collection stored somewhere else, the new Pokémon games are a barebones experience, since there’s usually only 50-70 new Pokes… I catch only those and then I’m done with the game.
It becomes a tedious task to avoid all the garbage Pokes I already own. … I’m looking at you “Wild Area” -_-
Yes... My inner shiny hunter is ready to shine now... A perfect reason to get back into Arceus and procrastinate the post game because I'm too busy shiny hunting
The time for BDSP competitive is here.
@KnightsTemplar : I’d welcome Home, if not for the fact that I must pay AU$25 annually to keep my own Pokémon. And here I was thinking that AU$6.50 (or thereabouts) annually for Pokémon Bank was exploitative and overpriced.
I might relent and transfer some of my Pokémon once Bank becomes free upon closure of the 3DS eShop, but I’ll only transfer my Pokémon to compatible games rather than pay to keep them stored in Home.
God FINALLY. I have 4 boxes of Shiny Pokèmon I caught and EV/IV trained in Sword that have been sitting in Home doing nothing for months now.
Still think this service should be free, or at least heavily discounted, when you're subscribed to NSO+EP.
THAT'S NOT 'IN THE COMING WEEKS' AAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

@KnightsTemplar Most people probably use it in postgame to complete national Dex without trading, and to get Deoxys for example, there is no other way than transferring it from home, not to mention that game doesn't have GTS, probably because it's in home.
@Silly_G
I’m doing the same. I’m transferring as many as I can to SwSh and the rest can sit in Home. Maybe they’ll survive me not paying the fee or maybe they’ll get wiped but I can’t really be paying for Home for the next (hopefully) 50 decades.
@FatWormBlowsASparky : 50 decades?! I'm not even content to live through the next five. Good luck!
Glad this update is coming, it'll be awesome to transfer some of my hard trained mons to other games and use them there.
@KnightsTemplar Considering how rare shiny PM are and how impossible to get Event PM are if you missed the Event then yeah Home is necessary.
@WallyWest well said point
Been waiting for this! I'm mass transferring my Legends Arceus shinies into Shining Pearl and crushing the post game battles with them. I'm assuming effort levels from PLA will be wiped as that system isn't compatible with the 512 EV system of the other games, so I'll have to take them to Sword to train them up first though.
Only 6 months after the game launched. Well done ILCA and pokemon 👏 🙄
Well, can finally complete the national Pokedex in Brilliant Diamond and Shinning Pearl.
Interesting. I thought that BD/SP/Arceus would have needed updates too, but apparently not.
Hackers needed a few days to implement save editing, what took GF so long???
Sarcasm
@Silly_G It's basically an official save editor, no need for the games to get updated. Pokemon home (if at all like third party editors) just looks at your save file and edits it to remove/add pokemon to your game to comply with pokemon data stored in GF's Home servers. No need to edit the game when the data stored in your console is sufficient.
That's my basic explanation, thanks.
Oh, great. Still under maintenance. Another 3.5 hours to go.
@FatWormBlowsASparky 50 decades are you a time lord?
@Gravitron : There are more time plebeians than lords, you know.
Finally been waiting a few months now..
@solarwolf07 : Lol. I'm well aware of that. I guess I was just a little optimistic that there would be some sort of integration between BD/SP and Legends Arceus that hasn't been patched in yet.
@solarwolf07 @Silly_G
Sword/Shield did require an update to add in HOME support. Save files from before v1.1.0 refused to load in HOME until they'd been opened in updated Sw/Sh and resaved. So it's not unheard of.
Though that could be out of something like only wanting to support the current version at time of release, rather than also past ones with slightly different save formats.
Maintenance still ongoing... -.-
Anyibe know how IVs/EVs will be calculated from the Pokemon in Arceus?
@Yosher I want Pokémon Home to have at least more boxes at some point. I have ten more spaces left in that application and with Scarlet & Violet coming out it warranted.
@RadNitro89 That too yeah, that would be great as well. With how many pokemon there are now, they really gotta offer a lot of space for people to store these digital creatures.
If I can't have Meowstic in Arceus it doesn't hold value to me
I wonder if the new evolutions and Enamourous will be part of the obtaining Original Form Magearna criteria.
Still not working for me
The good news: Mostly mutual compatibility between all Gen VIII games (minus the Pokémon that aren’t programmed into the games)
The bad news: Transferring a Pokémon to Legends Arceus doesn’t count as obtaining that Pokémon for the purpose of filling out the Pokédex, except if you have not yet obtained at least one in Legends Arceus already, in which case, it will register as one caught.
Well, that’s that complaint taken care of, what shall we moan about next?
@Silly_G Well that would just be to stop people from cheating using Home.
Correction, I tested it. And the Pokémon you transfer in do count as catched in Legends. (even those not previously caught) You do need to talk to Laventon though.
This update messed up my Pokèmon's moves. After sending them to BDSP Home adjusted them to match the games they're going to which is fine but the moves I gave them in preparation for the update they could originally learn in gen 4 games anyway. I mentioned this on Twitter so I'll say it here too but this is just an example: I gave my Shiny Latias Thunderbolt, sent it to BDSP and it was removed and replaced with something else so I had to teach it again which seems stupid to me. It's also fortunate moves like Psychic and ice beam can be bought at Veilstone's Department Store but that isn't the case for all moves. I know other moves can be exchanged for BP too but still this can be annoying and why they made TMs break again is beyond me, oh ofc to make it a faithful Remake 🙄
Also Pokemon like Gigantamax Pokemon like Eevee can't be sent over for some reason. Obviously the Gigantamax form didn't exist in gen 4 but they could have made the relevant adjustments but didn't for some reason. Hopefully an update fixes this.
@bluesun I don’t own a copy of Pearl anymore so I can’t updTe the data, so my Mew and Jirachi are currently stuck in the game lol. I had planned to use Home to transfer them, looks like I need to find a copy of the game again.
@OFFICIALMichi This is EXACTLY what I have to do, re-buy BD and Arceus 😠
@Yosher I've bred a lot of Pokémon to have their best nature, near perfect IVs, & their hidden abilities(sometimes be in unique balls as well)to get shinies. That explains my lack of space in Home.
