If Chris Pratt taking on the voice of Mario in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. animation wasn't already enough for you, a "lifelong Nintendo fan" and beginner Unreal Engine user is reimagining the Super Mario Bros. NES title as a realistic game starring the new voice of Mario.

Yes, Chris Pratt is even infiltrating the games now in this new fan-made creation. The first trailer (above) has gone live, showing off the project's first major update. It's got a "much-improved likeness", new levels, "actual gamplay", coin collection, power-ups and everything else you would expect from a Mario game. Even the end of level warp zones are in there, but they haven't been activated just yet.

The creator also plans to insert Jack Black as Bowser. For now, there's just a placeholder block in his place but he'll "probably" be in the next update. Here's a bit more about this project from the creator and YouTube channel Re-Imagined Games:

"I'm creating a Realistic Super Mario Brothers Remake with Chris Pratt as Mario! This is a preview of gameplay from the first four levels.

"I am a life long Nintendo fan, and I'm very excited for the Super Mario animated movie from Illumination and Nintendo! So, I decided to make some sort of fan project while we're all waiting for a trailer. But, then I started to wonder what it would look like if Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, and Keegan-Michael Key, were actually these characters in a realistic mushroom Kingdom. That seemed like an incredibly fun idea, and that's why I'm attempting to make this game. With zero game development experience, I'm learning unreal engine from scratch and picking up any other skills that I can along the way, in an effort to make this a legitimately great action game!"

And here's some extra gameplay footage, if you haven't already seen enough:

If you're looking for a more authentic Mario experience, a Super Mario Maker 2 player recently crafted an unofficial "Super Mario Bros. 5" game featuring 40 courses across 8 worlds. You can read more in our previous story.
