Pokémon Platinum Content Spotted In Diamond And Pearl Remake Trailer

It would make sense to have some refinements from Platinum, let’s hope Battle Frontier makes the cut after it was left out of ORAS! I really hope that Looker is a big part of this game too.

....If the Battle Frontier is in this game with the Arcade and other battle facilities, then I may give this game a go. Even with the chibi stuff. lol

I only played Platinum as my 4th gen game (after skipping the 3rd gen), but a lot of my favorite moments were normal D/P stuff aside from the Arcade.

@Anti-Matter Pretty sure it probably won't. It's a gen 4 remake trying to stay as faithful to the original as possible.

I'm just wondering what new content these remakes will introduce. ORAS gave us primal reversion mega evolutions of their legendaries.

@deafdood I honestly wouldn't expect anything new, except for "quality of life" improvements, like no HM's and forced EXP share. Mainly since they said it was a faithful remake.

Do we think there will be a Platinum version at some point in the future?

There was no 3rd version for FR/LG, HG/SS, OR/AS, or even Let's Go, so I'm thinking no.

Can we get Pokémon Star Platinum?

Maybe they just added that NPC just to have an additional NPC...

Without content from Platinum, I won't be able to call these remakes the definitive version of a Sinnoh game.

How about new content? Platinum content should be the bare minimum.

Why are people acting as if Porygon-Z was added to Platinum?

The only "new" Pokémon added to Platinum were the alternate forms for Rotom, Giratina, and Shaymin. That's it..

@Silly_G I don't think anyone's saying that Porygon-Z wasn't in Diamond and Pearl but it's a Pokémon that couldn't be encountered until the post game so it's interesting that they decided to show it. Diamond and Pearl had pretty awful regional dex so it wouldn't be surprising if they went with something more akin to Platinum's Pokédex. For example, Volkner's team in DP consists of Raichu, Ambipom, Octillery and Luxray but in Platinum they took out Ambipom and Octillery and replaced them with Jolteon and Electivire, two Pokémon that weren't in the regional dex previously and that fit much better for electric type gym leader. Many new evolutions to older Pokémon were only obtainable after beating the game.

I hope they bring back Distortion World. It wouldn't be part of the main story but at least add a portal to it in Turnback Cave and maybe some post game story tied to it.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that Ponyta and Rapidash were the only fire types in addition to Chimchar line in DP's regional dex. I never noticed it on my playthrough back then since I started with Chimchar and didn't need another fire type but that's pretty bad.

@Late Ironically, his original team was much harder, because you couldn't just spam ground moves.

Platinum was such a massive improvement with it's changes. I really hope we get that content.

These remakes are so freaking ugly I wish they would use the oras art style if they wanna do chibi, it's more appealing compared to these piece of garbage, I can't believe an older game from 2014 on an inferior hardware looks much better than a 2021 game on a superior hardware...this is so jarring I don't know if I'll be able to buy and play these, I'd rather play the ds version which I still have..

I hope they add the Shaymin and Darkrai events into the game, they were great fun

@Octane True. It was nice in a sense. I've said before how I'd rather have gym leaders speciliaze in tactics instead of types. Would make the battles more interesting.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, what they really should have done was to just add the two instead of replacing the non-electric types. The last gym leader should always have a full party.

@Letzg077 These, and the Legends game, are unfinished. I would expect some of the rough edges, like jaggy polygons and jumpy animations to be improved before the final releases.

Terrible ripoff of a game. Gamefreak truly does the bare minimum for graphics, looks like the 3DS could handle this. Wish they took better advantage of the Switch

It would nice if they learned their lesson after the mess they made by cutting out Emerald's contents from OR/AS.

@Kilamanjaro They have to keep the original map and its 2.5 grid structure intact. They can't just overhaul it to the fully 3D world of Sword and Shield while still remaining true to the original games. It's the same reason they couldn't go all out with the graphics for the "Link's Awakening" remake

No problems here as long as we get access to Giratina Origin Form and the Distortion World.

If they keep the battle frontier with the online modes, plus a proper ranked battle mode against anonymous players ( you needed battle revolution for that) and new pokemon from new regions, I will buy it. Platinum content is the bare minimum and anything bellow that is unacceptable. This should be the definitive 4th gen game.

It's absurd that the best looking games in the series are still the ones from Gen V.
Seriously, since they switched to 3D they never got it right once.
It could be excusable on 3DS given the hardware, but now it's just ridiculous.

I'm not one to care that much about graphics, but I'd say they're a pretty good indication of the general degree of polish and care that went into a game.

@Kilamanjaro for once Pokemon fans can't put all the blame on Game Freak with this game, cause they aren't making it.

@Orpheus79V they're funding it and branding it though right? From a brand management perspective they could've used a different studio or given that one more resources. It's the most valuable entertainment brand in the world! Any game publisher or developer would dream to have that amount of resources and support the Pokemon company has

@BulbasaurusRex they can still invest in making this look better, they're a multi-billion dollar company. Sword & Shield could've looked better as well. I plugged around 200 hours into both games combined and have been a big fan of the series but come on. It's 2021! We can and should expect more from them, it's not like they're a struggling indie developer or small time publisher

@RupeeClock It's weird but I suspect it might actually make a point to avoid using Mega-Evolutions altogether. Like... literally avoiding any of the "gimmicks" introduced in all of Gen6-7-8 such as mega-evolution/z-moves/dynamax.

Main reason for this feeling is that in many ways the simplicity of the lack of said battle gimmicks in gen1 to 5 also added to the accessibility of the genre. And with the last game without any of these special mechanics being those of gen5, we've reached the point where it's been so far long ago(unlike ORAS where mega-evolutions had JUST been introduced for the very first time) that a game WITHOUT any of these special mechanics is almost what would be the fresher experience for people who started with the more modern generations.

So literally, especially with the chibi-style being used to further convey the impression of as accurate a representation of the original game's overworld layouts/etc, I get the feeling they might make a point for this remake being used as an example of what the gameplay was like BEFORE any of these mechanics were introduced.

I mean, a kid who started with Pokemon X and Y at age 10-13 years old in 2013 would now be 18 to 21 years old. That's a lot of players who, especially with the difficulties to get a DS console/etc(to not mention those who had the console but got rid of it over the years/etc) unless you're really looking for it online, probably have never even tried any of the classic pre-XY games.

@VoidofLight If its like past remakes then expect PM from every Gen once you hit post game, i highly expect this will add the missing PM from Gen 8 as well.

Lets go and oras put megas in the remakes so im expecting the same for this one. I would also love to see the z moves back!

@Anri02 lol its semantics. Pokemon Company / Gamefreak is responsible for their brand regardless of the developer they publish for. Guess I see why people are talking about the developer which isn't what I meant to say, but I see your point.

Please have a way to get the platinum Lucas clothes lol
