The point being, if he'd only just got around to full production of it late last year, and it was indeed this 3DS game, there's no way it would have been ready to release just a year later, which adds weight to the theory that he was indeed talking about the true Pikmin 4 and not this spin-off.

"Remember during E3 2015 when Nintendo said Pikmin 4 was close to completion? Well, now it’s 2016. What’s the deal with Pikmin? According to Shigeru Miyamoto, progress on Pikmin 4 continues but it hasn’t been Nintendo’s top priority in recent months.

“Yes, you are right, and we’re working on [Pikmin 4],” Miyamoto told Gamerant at this year’s E3. “So, you know, when we’re in development we have to create a list of priorities and it has been hard to kind of fit that into that list, but we’re hopefully starting to see that on the list now.”

I'm sure Miyamoto also said that he was hard at work on Pikmin 4 but had to stall it whilst he worked on Mario Odyssey, which would also suggest that this Pikmin game is not the Pikmin 4 he talked of.

A have a feeling the Wii U stylus-controlled Kirby game will also be ported to the 3DS this year, but among these, i like the look of Blowout Blast the most, it looks interesting.

For the Switch i really want a 3D Kirby platformer at long last, it has huge potential, i'd also like Yoshi and DK to get 3D instalments as well, i do enjoy all of these in 2D but they have a lot of potential to be amazing 3D platformers and Nintendo seems to be more ambitious with their Switch projects so far compared to Wii U so now is the perfect time to move some of their 2D focused franchises into 3D i feel.

This looks really good, i am confident that Pikmin 4 is in development for the Switch too, but this one i think is actually more important in helping to broaden the IP's awareness, it's criminal how overlooked and undersold the previous Pikmin games all were, such a shame for such a fantastic series to still be so niche, i'd love to see it do a Fire Emblem and suddenly gain mainstream success, it's probably not likely, but who knows

@Shane76 They missed a trick not calling it the Pikachu edition, but i guess as there's no Pokemon game ready to release yet they had nothing to promote it with lol

I feel they should have just released one complete version of this game in the west, i will hold off for this version whenever it releases in the UK, still haven't played the first game yet lol

Not keen on this colour but more options are always a good thing, i love my blue/red pair.

I'm hoping we'll get an emerald green/gamecube purple combo at some point

Do you ever do anything but moan ? any third party dev choosing to release their games on the Switch is a good thing, after how disastrous the Wii U was for anyone but Nintendo we are lucky they're willing to give it a chance in its early stages of life.

I voted for Mario Oddyssey, Splatoon 2 and Rayman Legends, though i think Rime should have been included.

I am actually quite looking forward to Minecraft Story Mode too, these along with Sonic Mania, Digaea 5, Yooka-Laylee,ARMS, Cars 3 and Puyo Puyo Tetris show quite a solid schedule i think, i'm really hoping we get some Wii U ports like Starfox Zero, Pokken and Xenoblade X too.

I'm loving the Switch so far, great little console that's only going to get better as more games and features come out, particularly excited for the VC

Thanks for the great vids you make week in, week out Alex, i always enjoy them. I'm really excited for this game, the promise of this being closer to Super Metroid is very exciting to me. The team have such a passion for what they do, Julius seems like a great guy, i will be buying the game day one on Switch to support them as much as possible

I really don't think the only first party game coming this year after summer is Mario Odyssey, i think Nintendo still have quite a few surprises to announce, least of all Pikmin 4 but it wouldn't surprise me if Luigi's Mansion 3 is also announced to be released towards the end of the year, maybe also Retro's new game (for the love of god i just want to know what it is lol). If you add in Fire Emblem Warriors, a few Wii U ports and maybe even that rumoured Rabbids RPG they would fill in the schedule quite nicely, i just refuse to believe Mario Odyssey is the only first party game for the Switch after Splatoon 2 for the rest of the year, that would be madness.

I don't include Xenoblade 2 in my post as i honestly don't think that will be released this year, which means they need more than just Mario even more for the xmas run.

I will definitely get this on Switch as i never got round to buying it on the other consoles, same goes for Lego City Undercover, looking forward to playing both

Definitely getting this game on day one, i am as excited to play this as Zelda, never owned the Wii U version so should be a real treat

Still waiting for Moon Chronicles to be released in europe lol i was really looking forward to that, such a shame that it looks like we'll never get it now

That game was called A Boy And His Blob and has been remade and remastered a few times now, most recently on PS4 i think

I ordered the neon version as well as Zelda and a pro controller last night from very, i wasn't going to get one until Mario Odyssey came out but i have no will power at all lol

I hope after this is released Shinen make Jett Rocket 3

I didn't realise this had a single player campaign, it is now back on my 'to buy' list but will probably wait until its on sale, i do think it looks fun and the graphical style is great but the lack of online is baffling, it could have been a major release and become extremely popular if it just had that, maddening that it is not included.

Glad it is cancelled, it looked so shallow and amateurish, if Nintendo really want a robot fighting game in their line-up, then their dormant Custom Robo IP is much more deserving of being made, that had/has real potential, especially with Nintendo's recent announcement that they want to focus more on e-sports going forward, Custom Robo would fit in with that perfectly.

I really hope ARMS has a single player campaign, the characters look really well designed so would be nice to have a fully-realised world for them.

I loved both the Cars 2 film and game tie in, both were awesome so i'm loving this news, can't wait to see what game they end up making here, they're a great studio, i also still play the Toy Story 3 game, on 360 and the PSP version on my Vita, love it

an interesting thing i just thought of, when upgrading VC games from Wii to the Wii U, Nintendo said one of the reasons they still had to charge was for the creation of miiverse communities for each game, now that's gone i wonder what they'll say now ?

I quite like the blue colour and the red is growing on me but i'm sure more colours will come, i hope by christmas this year as that's when i plan on getting a Switch, i'd love purple ones !

Before hand i was pretty sure Miiverse would return and be expanded upon as i thought it had proven quite popular (i stopped using it after the novelty wore off though admittedly).

It seems Mii's themselves are going to be used a lot less by Nintendo, they appear to have been ditched in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe too.

I always liked the idea of using them for something like that 1 Vs 100 game Microsoft made for the 360 back in the day, but meh, i wouldn't be too bothered if they disappeared altogether lol

Really glad to hear it's coming to the Switch, i haven't gotten round to buying it yet so i'll get that version at some point

I'm excited but trying to not get too hyped just in case, but i can't wait to see that new 3D Mario and Pikmin 4 in particular, and that's before any of the games that'll be complete surprises, i would love a Luigi's Mansion 3 please Nintendo !

The funny thing is, he never used to be like that, i remember watching some of his vids the time Pikmin 3 came out and he was quite calm (bordering on boring lol), i didn't watch any of his vids for years until i checked one out a couple of months back and couldn't believe how different he was, he's clearly putting on the overly-enthusiastic act, which is fine i guess, seems to have helped him become more successful but it's all too much for me, i just can't listen to all that shouting ! haha

No, they are a second party studio, fully owned by Nintendo.

This was one of my fave games of the last generation, will definitely be picking up the remaster at some point

OMG i was praying this would come to Europe, so happy !!! i adored Cing's previous games, particularly Hotel Dusk, it was so atmospheric, cannot wait to play this, i hope it is a success for them

I am a massive Metroid fan, it's my no1 favourite franchise hands down and i'll admit, at first i couldn't believe what they'd done to Metroid but now i am quite looking forward to giving this game a go, Next Level Games did a fantastic job with Luigi's Mansion 2, pushed the 3DS to its limits so i'm willing to give this the benefit of the doubt.

Even if it doesn't turn out as good as i hope, i'm NOT giving Nintendo the excuse they need to dump the franchise completely due to this game's poor sales ! lol

@allav866 That's what my comment is all about, it's frustrating on both sides lol Being a huge Metroid fan this one is particularly annoying for me personally, but i do accept you guys across the pond have it worse in general in having to wait for VC games. The silver lining i guess is i can find out now whether it has control options for the right stick or not, rather than having to buy it myself to find out !

Argh why not in europe ? i don't know why they don't just give the same VC games to Europe and the US each week, saves the frustration of one region having to wait longer for the same games that the other gets, hope we get it soon.
