Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2024

Toadie

I'm surprised Xenoblade Chronicles X isn't on this list, but for me it's another Wii U game i really want on Switch, Starfox Zero with 'normal' controls, although i fear the console is too far into its twilight years to give the series a 'switch boost' that's helped other franchises by now.

Apart from that i'm still hoping Metroid Primes 2 and 3 are on the way but with Nintendo, who knows, they're so hard to predict.

Re: Review: Pikmin 4 - Relaxed, Refined Real-Time Strategy, Ready To Crack The Mainstream

Toadie

I cannot wait for this to arrive today, i'm really glad it seems to take most inspiration from Pikmin 2 although i'm slightly worried by how many reviews are saying how easy it is, 1 and 3 had the time management aspect as a challenge, 2 used harder enemies to challenge you in its place so i am a little worried if 4 has neither but it seems to have new elements like side quests and lots of NPCs which are new to the series so maybe they'll help in that regard.

Either way Pikmin is a jewel in Nintendo's already bling-tastic catalogue of franchises and i really, really hope 4 sells finally sees it achieve commercial success, god knows the series thoroughly deserves it.

Re: Ubisoft CEO Apologises For Internal Comments After Weak Software Sales

Toadie

Ubisoft need to re-structure their studios, they need a better mix of AAA, AA and smaller, more experimental games, they've achieved it before, they used to do well releasing their big AC games alongside Rayman Origins/Legends and also their indie games like Child of Light, a return to that approach would work wonders for them.

The new AC apparently being like a traditional, smaller Creed game like the older ones is a good sign, but mostly, they need to get away from their utter obsession of every game needing to be a huge open world, Rayman, Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia all suffered for not fitting this mould so were left on the scrap heap, linear is not a dirty word and they might be pleasantly surprised how much of an audience is still out there for them.

Re: Pac-Man World Re-PAC Is A Welcome Surprise, Launching This August

Toadie

I actually gasped when this appeared out of nowhere, a remake/return for the Pacman World games is something i've been wishing for for a very long time, i never thought it'd return after such a big absence, i'm so hyped for this, it's now my most wanted game for the year, hopefully 2 and 3 are next, the third game isn't as loved as 2 but i really enjoyed it.

Re: Metroid Dread Tops Amazon's "Best Sellers" Chart

Toadie

This is so good to see, Metroid deserves to be one of the best selling franchises in the industry, i'm hopeful with Dread, it'll get more of the success that it deserves. Thankfully i've managed to pre-order both the special edition and amiibo's, so hyped for release day, i've never played a bad Metroid game so i already know i'm gonna love this

Re: Review: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury - A Superb Mario Adventure With A Bowser Bonus

Toadie

This'll be a birthday present for me, which means i have to wait a week to play it, can't wait !

On the topic of Bowser's Fury potentially preluding a new Mario game, i honestly think it could be hinting towards a Sunshine sequel, think about it, one seamless world that leads to smaller worlds/islands would fit Sunshine closer than any other 3D Mario game, you could always see other parts of Delphino Island in the distance during Sunshine, imagine being able to just head towards them at any point.

I'm probably just thinking this way because i've always wanted Sunshine to get a sequel, it has so much potential i think, more nozzle types, using liquid other than water in FLUDD etc but it's probably not going to happen................then again Bowser Jr does have his paintbrush back..........and there is black goo all over the place in Fury...........nah, it won't happen xD

Re: Feature: Dynasty Warriors: A Series That's Remarkably Adept At Producing Spin-Offs

Toadie

I think a Mushroom Kingdom Warriors is quite likely personally, along with Pokemon and Xenoblade it seems like a no-brainer, would love a Starfox version too but i can't quite see that happening sadly.

I've really enjoyed all the Nintendo ones but i like the One Piece and Dragon Quest Warriors games too, they're not the kind of game i cold play back-to-back but they're a nice palette cleanser in between more intense games i find

Re: Nintendo 3DS Production Has Officially Come To An End

Toadie

A very sad day for me, the 3DS is easily the greatest handheld console of all time, it's library will unlikely ever be beaten, i still use mine everyday, there's still plenty of games i haven't gotten around to getting for it yet, from its own titles to VC and original DS games, i'll be playing on mine for years to come.

The 3DS is dead, long live the 3DS !!!! lol

Re: Poll: What's The Best 3D Mario Game?

Toadie

Sunshine is, and will always be, my favourite 3D Mario game, but i acknowledge it's not the absolute best, it's still top 3 for me though. I am in the minority in that i don't think as highly of the Galaxy games as most people do, so for me the list goes -

Odyssey
Sunshine
3D Land
3D World
Galaxy
Galaxy 2
64
64 DS

Re: Feature: The 9 Strangest Choices For Licensed Karting Games

Toadie

That Ryan kid is definitely going to grow up and be a serial killer or something lol

I remember during the PS1 years there used to be a huge amount of these licensed kart racers doing the rounds, and i ended up buying most of them, i remember enjoying them at the time but i'm sure they were trash haha Only ones i can really remember vividly now are the Looney Tunes and Woody Woodpecker games.

Re: Review: Paper Mario: The Origami King - A Puzzling Battle System Can't Kill This Funny Adventure

Toadie

"People have played the previous two games and so they know what to expect from this one as well. People know what they wanted and now that the reviews are out, they know that this one is more like the previous two instead of what they wanted.

On the flip side there are people saying that it looks like fun and those who are pre-ordering it based on the idea that they will like it. Those people also haven't played it yet."

You've answered your own query there, those who've played SS and CS and didn't like it have some knowledge that they won't like OK, but if that's true then people like me who played CS and enjoyed it also know that OK is similar, therefore i know pretty much that i'll enjoy this one, hence why i pre-ordered it.

Honestly i can see why so many people are hesitant over the newer games, Sticker Star was such a huge mistake and a disappointment but i truly believe Colour Splash was a huge improvement over it, i feel like most people who dismiss it never actually played it, they just assume it was Sticker Star 2, when it really wasn't, sales figures show that very few people actually did buy it. I reckon long-term fans of the series would actually be shocked if they tried CS or OK and actually end up enjoying them for the most part.

Re: Review: Paper Mario: The Origami King - A Puzzling Battle System Can't Kill This Funny Adventure

Toadie

It's worth bearing in mind, just because the battle system didn't click for Chris, it doesn't mean it'll be that way for everyone, Metro GameCentral's reviewer enjoyed it.

Either way i'm really looking forward to giving the game a go, i'm as much as a fan of TTYD as any other Paper Mario fan, and desperately want another game in its style......BUT i also really, really enjoyed Colour Splash, i enjoyed it for the adventure game it was and not the RPG it wasnt, it was also a huge improvement over Sticker Star and had the trademark humour the series is known for, most reviewers are saying Origami King has even better writing so that's a big positive for me, can't wait to get stuck into it on friday ! if i can get Spongebob finished in time that is ! lol

Re: Deals: You Can Already Buy SpongeBob: Battle For Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated For Under £20 (UK)

Toadie

@gcunit @ferryb001 @TheFullAndy

Guys i've put about ten hours into the Switch version and i can honestly say the only problem with it is severe texture pop-in, though that tends to be worse in the first world, it happens less later on in the game and you get used to it surprisingly quickly. It looks great and the controls/camera are tight and responsive, which is by far the most important thing in a 3D platformer. The frame-rate for the most part is stable, i've only encountered tiny drops in the hub world and once in Jellyfish Fields.

I'm thoroughly enjoying it and would definitely recommend it, especially at this price, the day-one patch must have been hefty as it took quite a while to download, i'm guessing some of the footage out there is without it as it really isn't 'rough' to me, aside from the pop-in

Re: A New Pokémon Snap Game Is In Development For Nintendo Switch

Toadie

I'm so, so happy about this !! We've all been waiting so long for a sequel for Snap, and this looks lovely !

I remember during the Wii U years, Eurogamer did a poll asking what Nintendo franchises everyone wanted a new game from, with Miyamoto personally the one to ask it and would be following the results, Pokemon Snap was the overwhelming winner, even above a new Metroid or F-Zero, so it's good to see Nintendo can listen to what their fans want, once in a while
