Re: Feature: Please Understand: Unpacking Nintendo's Vision For Metroid Prime 4

Toadie

People are concentrating too much on sales here, sure creating system sellers and games in series that sell the best is (and always should be) Nintendo's top priority at all times, they can't rely solely on them. The 'top tier' franchises are well catered for, it's why we see Mario, Pokemon, Zelda etc get games so frequently and receive many spin-off titles, Nintendo knows how to monetise their cash cows.

BUT for a console to be successful, it needs to have many games in many different genres, you can't just put out games all aimed at the same demographic and expect a healthy environment, the Wii is perfect proof of this (strong sales but attach rates weren't great, most companies didn't profit from it.)

Metroid is unlike any other Nintendo franchise and definitely does draw in gamers who likely won't buy a Nintendo console for Mario or Pokemon for example, those same gamers might go on to try other, more nice franchises like Fire Emblem so only concentrating on sales is only looking at things from one side, if Nintendo only pumped out Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Smash, Mario Kart and abandoned Metroid, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, Pikmin, they'd end up in the situation Microsoft are in, with increasingly tired franchises with people fatigued with Forza 102 and yet another Gears game.

Re: See If Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn Is For You With The Free eShop Demo

@Romeo-75 Totally agree, the 3D effect still wows me even now, sadly i can't see Nintendo implementing it again any time soon, but in many ways, PS VR is the natural evolution of it, i've had mine since xmas and absolutely love it, the 3D effect coupled with 3D sound makes for a hugely immersive experience, so it's great to see 3D continue, just in a slightly different way

@Faucet Oh wow you've missed some amazing games if you've skipped the 3DS ! i still play on mine constantly, probably more than the Switch tbh, i really would recommend getting one mate, you could get one pretty cheap now too, it's become one of my fave formats of all time, probably only second to the GameCube for me

Re: So Long Wii Shop Channel, And Thanks For All The Games

Toadie

Ahh sad day, i really wish we could have the option to use the Wii Shop music on the Switch's e-shop.

My fave games on Wiiware were Jett Rocket and both Lost Winds games, i really hope the rumoured Switch ports of Konami's ReBirth series happens as i didn't get around to buying them.

Re: Nintendo Files Patent For "Eye-Tracking Enabled 3D Viewing" Technology

Toadie

I adore the 3D effect of the 3DS, i find it adds to the immersion of games greatlyi have it set to maximum and don't think i've ever turned it off, so i would love it to continue in some way, VR being the most obvious way, PS VR is the natural continuation of the 3DS in some ways, would love Nintendo to also keep the feature going.

My most wanted would be -

Bioshock Collection

Ni No Kuni 1 and 2
Dead Space Trilogy
Mass Effect Trilogy
Disney Afternoon Collection
Darksiders Trilogy
Plants V Zombies:Garden Warfare 2 (or a third game if it's in development)

Dishonoured Collection

All these would be must buys for me

Re: Feature: A Recap Of Nintendo Life Reviews In 2018

Toadie

Thanks to everyone at Nintendo Life for providing all the great content you do, including Alex's awesome Youtube vids, this site is by far my favourite gaming site and i just love how you can feel the buzz of excitement on here during E3 or when a Nintendo Direct is taking place, long live Nintendo Life !

Re: Feature: The Final Wii U Games We'd Like To See On Switch In 2019

Toadie

I'd welcome all of these, actually i'd welcome every single Wii U exclusive to come to Switch eventually, so i'd add these to the list -

Paper Mario:Colour Splash (a huge improvement over SS but sadly overlooked by many)
Fatal Frame 5
Kirby Rainbow Curse
Starfox Zero
Sonic Lost World
Nintendo Land

Nintendo Land i think could be adapted to Switch, and if online multiplayer was added, would improve it massively, add in a few new mini-games and it'd be one heck of a great port.

Similarly, Starfox Zero, if given traditional controls, online mp and came bundled with Starfox Guard plus the animated short that's on youtube, would be a nice little package.

Re: Video: Take A Look At New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe In This Introduction Trailer

Toadie

Think i will get this digitally as they're giving double the gold points for it if you pre-order it on the e-shop, i never got around to buying the Luigi U content.

To add to what another poster said, i would love Nintendo Land to be ported too, with a few new games added but more importantly, online multiplayer, that would seriously improve the game, it was a travesty it didn't have it on the Wii U.

I'd also love games like Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101 and Paper Mario:Colour Splash to get another chance to sell, basically, i am loving all the Wii U ports and hope every exclusive it has comes to Switch eventually lol

Re: Review: Yo-Kai Watch 3 - The Perfect Swansong For The Series On Nintendo 3DS

Toadie

I'm playing through Yokai Watch 1 right now and enjoying it immensely, i'm getting Psychic Spectres for xmas and having seen footage of Blasters, i will order that as soon as possible as it looks great, i have fallen in love with the series.

4 on Switch looks phenomenal, i can see it being the break-through hit for the series in the west, i just hope it doesn't take too long to be localised.

Re: Reggie: N64 Classic Mini Is "Not In Our Planning Horizon", But Wouldn't Ever Rule It Out

Toadie

"we've been clear"

"we are very clear"

Reggie likes to use these phrases but as any Nintendo fan knows, clarity is not one of Nintendo's strong points lol

I do think an N64 Mini will appear at some point, but not likely for this year now, next year maybe, but a GB/GBC Mini is just as likely for then too, i'm more interested in a GameCube Mini though, imagine how cute that would look !

Re: The 3DS Is Far From Dead, Nintendo Says It's "Continuing With Efforts To Expand Sales"

Toadie

Long live the 3DS !! lol

I love mine, it's easily one of my fave systems of all time and i'm excited for Luigi's Mansion, Yokai Watch 3 and Kirby's Epic Yarn, i know realistically it has to die sooner or later but i still feel it has a little bit of juice left in the tank, i'd love a few more ports like the N64 Paper Mario and F-Zero X, they'd both look great in 3D.

I really hope a brand new Wario Land is the console's swan song, or, failing that, a remake of the Virtual Boy game, the rumours of a Link's Awakening remake still seem to linger too, if all these games were to come to fruition, i'd be very happy
