Nintendo has shared an updated list of Europe's most-downloaded Switch eShop games, revealing which titles were the most popular during October 2021.
Likely coming as very little surprise indeed, Nintendo's own Metroid Dread and Mario Party Superstars have taken the top two spots this time around. They lead a list made up of popular Nintendo-published games and well-known third-party hits.
You can check out the full list below. It's based on the number of Nintendo eShop downloads (so no physical sales) in European territories during the whole month:
- Metroid Dread
- Mario Party Superstars
- FIFA 22
- Minecraft
- Diablo II: Resurrected
- Among Us
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Stardew Valley
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Disco Elysium: The Final Cut
- Pokémon Sword
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Super Mario Party
Did you download any of these titles on Switch last month? Any surprises in the top 15? Tell us below.

To be fair, mario party superstars released at the end of the month
I wonder how many people downloaded Super Mario Party out of confusion, thinking it was Superstars.
Fifa 22 😩
Do those people know what they were paying for?
The fact that disco elysium is below fifa 22 is tragic
@UltimateOtaku91 yeah they do. They are just people who buy yearly sports games which are the same game btw, regardless whether it has parity with other consoles or not
@Taffy The Europeans do love their football
@anoyonmus this one doesn't. Its a pile of 💩😂
The lack of Tetris Effect is a shame
@Kidfunkadelic83 well not all Europeans. But most of them do love football
@Clyde_Radcliffe How FIFA 22 Legacy Edition is on the list has to be a crime imo
@anoyonmus its true tho. Alot of people in the UK obsess over it. One guy at my work wont talk to anyone if if team loses a match the day before hand 😂😂
Crazy how Zelda BotW is still on these lists after all this time.
Hopefully the sequel isn’t delayed and we get it next year.
Metroid Dread number 1, lovely to see 😄.
Completed metroid dread last night had to cheat on the final boss though
I’m thinking to buy FIFA 22. I need my football fix. I know it’s the same game with an updated roster, but I need an up to date roster, so what can I do?
@Wesker Don’t do it. Come on. There are so much better uses of your money.
thankfully Metroid was number 1
I juat hate EA is making so much money.
@Eel sounds like something I would do!
Super glad to see Metroid Dread at the No.1 spot. I hope this spawns more Metroid!
I never thought I would ever see a Metroid game doing this well, and it is awesome!
I just beat Dread for the 1st time last night, and it was incredible. So glad to see more and more people getting into this series.
My son is playing Dread right now and he’s loving it, keeps coming to tell me when he gets a new upgrade or finds something cool 😅
@Wesker If you have Fifa 21 then you can get Fifa 22 for half price buying through Fifa 21. Well you could a couple of weeks ago anyway. With that and Nintendo points, Fifa 22 cost me around £10, which I was more than happy with tbh. Yes it's the same game as before essentially, but I love playing online, and I find the most players are on the most recent version.
@UltimateOtaku91
Yes. It's called paying for expensive football merchandise.
@UltimateOtaku91 It's a perfectly good football game, if you don't have any other Switch version.
@Wesker last fifa I bought was 18. I always manually transfer the players myself, and upgrade/downgrade them according to performance (yes it takes time). Next fifa I’ll get will be 24
@My_ultimate_is_ready but what about young players? I need Emile Smith Rowe and Saka in my Arsenal team.
Fascinating how Mario Kart 8 still sells like crazy. Well deserved though, it is the best entry in the series.
Metroid Dread is my GOTD ♡
