Re: Preview: Getting Gruesome In Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus On Switch

TheLobster

Correct me if I'm wrong, but so far this game has not sold very well, yes? I'm wondering how many people have been waiting on this port. I saw somewhere that when games are available on both PS4 and Switch, the Switch version is currently outselling the PS4 version 2:1 - that goes for physical OR digital. Astounding if true.

I'm not particularly interested in this sort of game, so I won't be picking this up, but I'm happy it's coming and glad the Switch has some games with some teeth coming. (Or already here in the case of DOOM.) I foresee a long partnership between Nintendo and Bethesda in the future.

Re: Video: Discussing the Possibility of Spyro Reignited Trilogy Coming to Switch

TheLobster

@GrailUK Ah, I did not even realize he was talking about the Gamecube. He said "it" when the last console he mentioned was the Wii. The real problem here is the pronoun game! I would not have gotten so upset about calling the Gamecube a failure - it did do worst after the Wii U after all, even though I love it (excluding that red and black literal eyesore that shall not be named).

Re: Video: Discussing the Possibility of Spyro Reignited Trilogy Coming to Switch

TheLobster

@gatorboi352 "This is the age old problem Nintendo has had since the Wii days... the system failed for other reasons)."

The Wii failed?! It sold 101 million units! What constitutes success? I really don't get you. What on Earth does Nintendo have to do to please you? Sell 500 million Switches with only exclusive, AAA third party titles, putting Sony and Microsoft out of business? That's never going to happen.

Re: Spyro: Reignited Trilogy Is Finally Official, But Switch Is Left Out In The Cold

TheLobster

@edgedino I guess we will have to disagree on what is necessary news then. As for NL going dead, ugh, I know. They should have some staff who take weekends Mon/Tues (or two other days of the workweek) so that the site doesn't go on life support over the weekend. I don't think that would be too hard to implement. @Dom could delegate a weekend/assistant editor to make sure that weekend articles went out with the same quality (though quality has gotten a bit questionable as of late...). Surely the views they would get over the weekend would lead to increased revenue.

As for the website being third party, I had not heard that. I heard it was Nintendo's own UK site.

Re: Spyro: Reignited Trilogy Is Finally Official, But Switch Is Left Out In The Cold

TheLobster

@edgedino Honestly the level of articles during the Wii U era of games not coming was depressing. It was silly to report on it then too and it just brought everybody down. But I guess then you could excuse it by saying, "What else was there to write about?" Nowadays there's plenty to write about. Now if the tone of this article was, "Switch version SAID to be not coming, but pre-order went up on Nintendo UK website - Discuss," which actually happened, then I would not be complaining, because that's actual news of Spyro possibly coming, not just coverage that so far, he isn't.

Re: Feature: The Biggest Retail Games Hitting Nintendo Switch This Spring

TheLobster

@rjejr Hahahaha. They should have saved us a fortune last gen considering they were giving us the worst versions of the games but boy were we desperate. Not that I don't love my Wii U, but come on, you are right, every re-release is adding something to the mix to make it better. I should have just skipped it altogether and now I see the logic of the people who did. But what can I say, I'm a simple woman, it says "Nintendo," I buy. But I'll tell you what - I have unhooked the Wii U but recently hooked the Wii back up. What does that say to you? Edit: I'll add that I'm finding crazy discounts on what are great games in the Wii's library to justify that hookup, Wii games cost almost nothing these days.

Re: Feature: The Biggest Retail Games Hitting Nintendo Switch This Spring

TheLobster

@rjejr I can't BELIEVE you don't think good ol' Funky Kong isn't worth $10. Honestly I think he's worth $100! DKC:TF should be $150 on Switch so really we're getting a bargain!

@ThanosReXXX This'll teach you to be "first" on any article for a while. I think you've written more on this comment section than NL staffers have in the past two weeks!

Re: Feature: The Biggest Retail Games Hitting Nintendo Switch This Spring

TheLobster

All the people complaining about this lineup must have been born after 2016, since they don't seem to remember a time when there really WAS nothing coming out on Nintendo platforms and a lineup like this would have been beyond their wildest dreams. The fact that they are less than two years old would explain all the whining, too. But kudos to them for mastering a keyboard at such a young age - I'm impressed more and more each year at how the little ones conquer technology!

Re: Kirby Star Allies Gobbles Its Way To The Top Of The Japanese Charts

TheLobster

Glad to see Kirby debut so well, that's Monster Hunter levels of sales. I didn't realize Kirby was a system seller but I guess he is! Or at least he's a tipping point. He'll hit 1m WW by June 30th financial meeting to be sure. How did he sell in US? Pretty solid numbers as well I imagine. He has to be close to 500K WW already if he did 222K in Japan only. Go Kirby!

Re: Reaction: What Did You Think Of The Nindies Spring Showcase 2018?

TheLobster

@Rontanamo_Bay They could have dug up Iwata's corpse and he would have been a better presenter than those two buffoons. I'm sorry for the graphic nature of that statement and the possible disrespect to Iwata that may be inferred, but it's true. And I really do respect Iwata. He had more charisma in his pinky finger than those two numbskulls combined.

Re: Reaction: What Did You Think Of The Nindies Spring Showcase 2018?

TheLobster

I don't usually say this but I was disappointed. I will probably get Lumines and Pode. Where was Flipping Death? Where was Pocket Rumble? Where was Wargroove? Where was Undertale? Where were the half a dozen titles that ALSO got mentioned as coming yesterday OUTSIDE the Showcase? This was probably Nintendo's poorest effort at a "Direct" style video in years. I'm not some crazy person that was expecting Smash at this event - but I was expecting some friggin' indies to show up that needed release dates and I was expecting a little more oomph. This level of quality should have just been a two minute sizzle reel in last week's Direct - make it 35 minutes long instead of 33, it's a more round number anyways.

Re: Monster Boy And The Cursed Kingdom Switch Pre-Orders Are Ten Times Stronger Than PS4

TheLobster

@rallydefault Thank you. One thing that drives me nuts is seeing ten thousand comments on an article all about one typo. Just email them! It's more polite and you don't come across as a massive tool correcting them all the time. Posting a correction in the comments once in a while is one thing, but when it's on every article it reflects badly on you, not NL. Especially when it's something that's subjective.
