Re: Review: The Jackbox Party Pack 3 (Switch eShop)

TheLobster

@MadAdam81 Well honestly I'm glad to know this game needs good Wi-Fi because I live in an area where that is hard to come by. I don't think Dan docked points for that, I think it was just information that people should know. If Zelda reliably crashed the reviewer's console, I would certainly want to know that.

I don't understand why everyone is upset here. Again, a review is just an opinion, and a 7 is a good score.

Re: Review: Mr. Shifty (Switch eShop)

TheLobster

I was looking forward to this game. Not enough to buy it day one but I was intrigued. Then the devs opened their mouths and barfed garbage all over the internet and basically told me they are not a company worth supporting. If they don't think just as highly of every iteration of their game as the PC version they are not worth my time and their game is not worth my money. Yes, PC is easiest to develop for and it is the "best" platform and games run most smoothly on it, but spare a thought to those of us who prefer consoles. Throwing my Switch into my purse is certainly a hell of a lot more convenient than throwing a gaming laptop into it and guess what? Mr. Shifty runs on both. Only I won't be playing it on either.

Re: Namco Museum Cover Art Hints At Physical Release On Switch

TheLobster

I mean, it's always good to have a physical release to put on store shelves to get people to look over and see your system's games taking up actual space and stuff, so that's a plus. Would I buy this particular game? No, I wasn't planning to. How many Namco Museum games are there now? I mean none of them are BAD, they just aren't something I want to rush out and buy.

Re: Payday 2 Announced For Nintendo Switch

TheLobster

I'm hyped Switch is getting a game I actually stocked over and over during the year I worked at GameStop. I was like, "Hey, a so-called 'real' game!" It's a very promising move and I hope a lot of people pick it up. That said I won't be one of them simply because this kind of game has never appealed to me. But perhaps it will attract the sort of people who it does appeal to, considering Zelda is here and Mario will be soon enough!

Re: These Neon Yellow Joy-Con Will Go Perfectly With ARMS

Also I don't mind @SLIGEACH_EIRE, he seems pretty balanced to me. He has been sorely wrong a few times but for the most part he has a level head around here, if a bit pessimistic. Somebody has to be Eeyore. He certainly contributes to the site in positive ways too, or does nobody notice the plenty of news tips he sends in, which are also balanced? I don't think he wants Switch to fail, I just think he is trying to keep perspective. I have occasionally reported people for dogpiling on him because he doesn't deserve that crap.

I think they look a bit like a certain bodily fluid myself. Not a fan. Perhaps orange, purple, or green will win me over! As it is I'm enjoying my blue, which is my favorite color anyway. I'd like to see some character themed ones. I'm sure they'll be out by the holidays. Nintendo won't miss that trick for sure.

Re: Review: Has-Been Heroes (Switch eShop)

TheLobster

I was hearing damning things about the controls in early quick looks and stuff as well. Made me shy away and I'm glad I did. From your description here they are downright insane. Maybe if they patched in the ability to remap controls to something more intuitive this would be a bargain purchase but as it is, hard pass from me.

Re: Guide: How To Unlock Tarrey Town, Zelda: Breath Of The Wild's Amazing Hidden Gem

TheLobster

This is clearly a spoiler. But it's one you can avoid looking at. The only thing the title of the article spoils is the name of the town itself, which isn't really a spoiler, because it lets you know if you SHOULD click the article or not! Imagine if it said, "How to Unlock BotW's Hidden Town." A lot more people would have clicked in thinking, "Hey, I bet I missed someth-- oh crap." But if you actually put in the name of the town, then people who have found it know they don't have to click it, people who are working on it don't have to click it, only people who haven't heard of Tarrey Town and are intrigued have to click it. (And people who want to kvetch about spoilers, I guess.)

The really spoiler-y thing is that it doesn't just say how to unlock the quest, as implied by the title, but how to do the whole entire thing, pictures included. If they mentioned at the top that there would be spoilers or said "spoilers" in the name of the article or whatever, then perhaps it would give people less room to kvetch. But I definitely feel like it was implied that this would only tell you how to unlock the quest, not do the whole thing. Luckily I'd finished it a while ago, short of sending Bolson & Co back home. (I just hate talking to them so it was dumb luck. Learned from reading this comment section that talking to them sends them back to your house!)

@Damo Still advocating a neutral BotW picture for these articles so people can't complain about being spoiled by pictures on the front page, too. You guys really can take a few simple steps to cut down on the kvetching.

Re: My Child Lebensborn Adds a Switch Stretch Goal

TheLobster

Very interesting. I'm off Kickstarting for now though ALTHOUGH I did finally get my Fidget Cube today, only about three months after everybody else got theirs. (Not to knock on the Fidget Cube people because it was worth the wait. Definitely the nicest thing I've ever gotten off a Kickstarter.)

Re: Random: Princess Zelda's Voice Actor Had To Pay For Breath Of The Wild Just Like Everyone Else

TheLobster

I think it's funny that she had to buy it like everyone else. I also found her voice to be not at all how I thought Zelda should sound, but that's not her fault. It doesn't mean that she did a terrible job. It does mean that yes, hers is the only voice in the game that completely grates on me. But she did a good job recording the lines, I thought. I just can't stand the direction they took Zelda in now that she has a voice. I'm sure this woman has done fantastic, non-grating work in other games. And I'm sure she did exactly as she was directed to for this one. But gah!
