@MadAdam81 Well honestly I'm glad to know this game needs good Wi-Fi because I live in an area where that is hard to come by. I don't think Dan docked points for that, I think it was just information that people should know. If Zelda reliably crashed the reviewer's console, I would certainly want to know that.
I don't understand why everyone is upset here. Again, a review is just an opinion, and a 7 is a good score.
I was looking forward to this game. Not enough to buy it day one but I was intrigued. Then the devs opened their mouths and barfed garbage all over the internet and basically told me they are not a company worth supporting. If they don't think just as highly of every iteration of their game as the PC version they are not worth my time and their game is not worth my money. Yes, PC is easiest to develop for and it is the "best" platform and games run most smoothly on it, but spare a thought to those of us who prefer consoles. Throwing my Switch into my purse is certainly a hell of a lot more convenient than throwing a gaming laptop into it and guess what? Mr. Shifty runs on both. Only I won't be playing it on either.
Idek if you are in on the grammar policing going on in this comment section or not, but people saying "shotty," which isn't a word, is one of my, how shall we put it, "triggers." It's "shoddy." D's, not T's. Lord, how were you people brought up?
@MadAdam81 Nope, PS2 is the biggest selling console ever but PS4 is the fastest selling console. Might it outsell the PS2? Probably not, the market is very different than it was 15 years ago. But Sony does know how to market a console (PS3 launch excluded).
I mean, we don't even know what "Pac-Man Maker" necessarily means. It could even be a toy. It would be a fun thing to play but this doesn't mean anything yet.
Sounds like a lot of effort still went into this. Good job to Mutated Software if they see this. It's not easy to make a game, let alone one with a little heart.
I think all of the 2017 nominations are worthy. Even Wii Sports, though it seems a bit weird to put a game that I grew up with in COLLEGE on a video game HISTORY thing!
No worries that this can be completed in an evening as it still sounds like it is exactly the way all remakes should be handled. An instant purchase to be certain!
Somebody was too quick to the keyboard here. Mr. Shifty looks like a cool game I may pick up at a later date... Hope the devs have a handle on their social media team by then.
I guess I would classify them as Grandma Games. Games your well-meaning grandma buys you for your birthday or Christmas. "I know you've really been hoping for a new Nintendo game!" "Thanks Grandma I love Zel- oh. Thanks!"
I mean, it's always good to have a physical release to put on store shelves to get people to look over and see your system's games taking up actual space and stuff, so that's a plus. Would I buy this particular game? No, I wasn't planning to. How many Namco Museum games are there now? I mean none of them are BAD, they just aren't something I want to rush out and buy.
@dknintendo His issue is with their Youtube policies. I think if he feels that strongly he should just not review them at all. I know plenty of other people that have stopped for that reason. But hey, what do I know?
@Spoony_Tech I tagged SLIGEACH_EIRE in a post I made last night... But only because it was positive and I wanted him to see good vibes for once. I think it's rude to tag someone who isn't participating in the conversation for any reason other than that (unless you want, say, rjejr's opinion or whoever) even if it is Yasume.
I'm hyped Switch is getting a game I actually stocked over and over during the year I worked at GameStop. I was like, "Hey, a so-called 'real' game!" It's a very promising move and I hope a lot of people pick it up. That said I won't be one of them simply because this kind of game has never appealed to me. But perhaps it will attract the sort of people who it does appeal to, considering Zelda is here and Mario will be soon enough!
Also I don't mind @SLIGEACH_EIRE, he seems pretty balanced to me. He has been sorely wrong a few times but for the most part he has a level head around here, if a bit pessimistic. Somebody has to be Eeyore. He certainly contributes to the site in positive ways too, or does nobody notice the plenty of news tips he sends in, which are also balanced? I don't think he wants Switch to fail, I just think he is trying to keep perspective. I have occasionally reported people for dogpiling on him because he doesn't deserve that crap.
I think they look a bit like a certain bodily fluid myself. Not a fan. Perhaps orange, purple, or green will win me over! As it is I'm enjoying my blue, which is my favorite color anyway. I'd like to see some character themed ones. I'm sure they'll be out by the holidays. Nintendo won't miss that trick for sure.
I heard they removed the arrow exploit. I'm sure they are coming for other fun stuff next. Ride to the ceiling as long as you can, folks, Daddy Nintendo is going to take away your toy soon.
Guardians aren't so hard but I do enjoy the overkill of that fully upgraded Ancient Armor. You look pretty stupid in it but nothing can touch you. Walk up to a Lynel and beat him in the face? Sure thing.
Definitely a day one purchase. I have been eyeing this one for quite a while. I have a backlog of games I want already but this is one I will not put on the back burner.
I saw this yesterday! Totally beats anything in PBG's "50 Ways to Die" video. I think my most memorable death was right at the beginning of the game, trying to figure out how to get off the Great Plateau Tower.
Zelda: Link, only you can defeat Calamity Ganon and bring peace to Hyrule once again! Link: -immediately falls off a tower to his death, Game Over- Zelda: Welp.
I was hearing damning things about the controls in early quick looks and stuff as well. Made me shy away and I'm glad I did. From your description here they are downright insane. Maybe if they patched in the ability to remap controls to something more intuitive this would be a bargain purchase but as it is, hard pass from me.
This is clearly a spoiler. But it's one you can avoid looking at. The only thing the title of the article spoils is the name of the town itself, which isn't really a spoiler, because it lets you know if you SHOULD click the article or not! Imagine if it said, "How to Unlock BotW's Hidden Town." A lot more people would have clicked in thinking, "Hey, I bet I missed someth-- oh crap." But if you actually put in the name of the town, then people who have found it know they don't have to click it, people who are working on it don't have to click it, only people who haven't heard of Tarrey Town and are intrigued have to click it. (And people who want to kvetch about spoilers, I guess.)
The really spoiler-y thing is that it doesn't just say how to unlock the quest, as implied by the title, but how to do the whole entire thing, pictures included. If they mentioned at the top that there would be spoilers or said "spoilers" in the name of the article or whatever, then perhaps it would give people less room to kvetch. But I definitely feel like it was implied that this would only tell you how to unlock the quest, not do the whole thing. Luckily I'd finished it a while ago, short of sending Bolson & Co back home. (I just hate talking to them so it was dumb luck. Learned from reading this comment section that talking to them sends them back to your house!)
@Damo Still advocating a neutral BotW picture for these articles so people can't complain about being spoiled by pictures on the front page, too. You guys really can take a few simple steps to cut down on the kvetching.
@ProjectCafe LOL. No. My mom just had strong convictions and they were that video games were an incredible waste of money because you had to buy every game separately AND continuously buy batteries for the GameBoy/the regular Nintendos weren't portable. So I played outside a lot and used my imagination, or read books. It didn't kill me.
When I was a kid, I wasn't allowed video games no matter how much I begged and pleaded or how much of my own money I saved up. I had to literally wait for my mom to die before I could get my first GameBoy. Here's hoping that's NOT the solution here.
(It's going to be twenty years next year, please no sympathy.)
Very interesting. I'm off Kickstarting for now though ALTHOUGH I did finally get my Fidget Cube today, only about three months after everybody else got theirs. (Not to knock on the Fidget Cube people because it was worth the wait. Definitely the nicest thing I've ever gotten off a Kickstarter.)
I backed on Kickstarter for the Wii U and I feel like the only person who isn't mad to change my platform to Switch. I don't mind waiting longer because I'm still playing Zelda anyway. It's coming, it's going to be a good game, cool your jets.
I think it's funny that she had to buy it like everyone else. I also found her voice to be not at all how I thought Zelda should sound, but that's not her fault. It doesn't mean that she did a terrible job. It does mean that yes, hers is the only voice in the game that completely grates on me. But she did a good job recording the lines, I thought. I just can't stand the direction they took Zelda in now that she has a voice. I'm sure this woman has done fantastic, non-grating work in other games. And I'm sure she did exactly as she was directed to for this one. But gah!
