Re: Check Out All These New Discounts on My Nintendo in North America

TheLobster

I got so many things from Club Nintendo up to and including a Gold Nunchuk. Multiple soundtracks, hanafuda cards, regular playing cards, a replica Game and Watch, a pin set, various bags, a puzzle, and so much more. Not to mention game downloads to the tune of Mario Golf World Tour and many, many more.

My Nintendo has given me... 3DS themes for the 3DS I don't use anymore, a Zelda Picross game, and a couple of downloadable eShop games that I have to dig out the system to redeem. Meanwhile nothing for the system I actually use.

@Anti-Matter You can't tell me that Vegas Party, Chicken Range, and Monster Energy Supercross: The Official Videogame aren't shovelware. NL could have saved themselves a whole row by omitting those three gems from the lineup but I suppose they need the Amazon affiliate kickback. Someone, somewhere, is buying their kid Chicken Range instead of Mario Odyssey because it'll be cheaper presumably (if not at launch then in a few weeks) and I feel sorry for that kid.

Re: Guide: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For February And March

TheLobster

The only games I'm really looking forward to here are Bayo and Kirby... those would be the two that I would play right away. Otherwise, in my insane, collection building mentality I'm interested in several more just to have, namely Dragon Quest Builders (which I do plan on playing at some point actually, but I've already played it on PS4, so), Wonder Boy (which I already have digitally but would like to pick up physically), Soldam (same, but I'm assuming this is the PAL release because it's already out physically in NA - I'm just waiting for the price to go back down to Black Friday levels when I unfortunately couldn't get a copy), and Runner3. Might also consider Scribblenauts way down the line, I had fun with Unlimited back in the Wii U's early days.

But yeah, this is mostly filler, even if it is filler I might/will pick up.

Re: Reminder: Time To Purchase Wii Shop Points Is Running Out

TheLobster

@Moroboshi876 Good luck!

@Windy Something tells me you might add $40 to pick up a few things like... it's coming in... hold on a second...WiiWare Final Fantasy and then maybe some Turbografx and PC Engine titles? And maybe Sega Genesis? Good call. There was a lot of shovelware to sift through, though, so be careful.

OK, sorry, I know the site must have hiccupped. I just have never seen a 5x post before and it tickled me.

Re: Kimishima Talks Nintendo’s 3DS Strategy Going Forward

TheLobster

@Kiyata Dang, and I thought my 100+ games were impressive. I always love when my friends bring their kids over for the first time because the kids are expecting to be bored out of their gourd and then I hand them a 3DS and literally thousands of dollars worth of games and their little eyes bug right out. I'm the coolest person among second graders.

Re: Review: 10 Second Run Returns (Switch eShop)

TheLobster

Lordy Lordy, I remember when this site (or a prior incarnation of it, I think) reviewed the original 10 Second Run back in the day. Are you sure it was 7 years ago? It doesn't seem that long. I should go get a walker and some dentures, I'm getting old...

Re: Reminder: Time To Purchase Wii Shop Points Is Running Out

TheLobster

@Moroboshi876 I can't help you with what is exclusive, I know there are lists out there though, including one on NL possibly? But I hope NL does an article before March at any rate about what the best WiiWare and VC titles were. A retro-retrospective, if you will.

You can still download to the Wii itself though, not just the Wii U, I know that much though.

Re: Review: Her Majesty's SPIFFING (Switch eShop)

TheLobster

I was thinking this game was going to get a higher rating based off of what I read in the review. IS it just me or did that not read like a 6/10 review? Oh well.

@BulbasaurusRex I use /s to achieve the same effect. Takes a lot less time to type, too.

Re: Review: Space Dave (Switch eShop)

@lillith If you're saying that it should be "concept," you are obviously not familiar with other uses of the word "conceit" beyond things such as "conceited." A simple Google search reveals they are using the second definition:

con·ceit
kənˈsēt/
noun
1.
excessive pride in oneself.
"he was puffed up with conceit"
synonyms: vanity, narcissism, conceitedness, egotism, self-admiration, self-regard;
2.
a fanciful expression in writing or speech; an elaborate metaphor.
"the idea of the wind's singing is a prime romantic conceit"
synonyms: image, imagery, metaphor, simile, trope;

Re: The Dream Of Crowdfunded Switch Dock SFANS Has Turned Into A Nightmare

TheLobster

@retro_player_22 Nintendo most certainly does not give you a dock for free with the purchase of your Switch... Why do you think the thing costs $300? Because of all the stuff included in the package. If they didn't include the dock (and no reason to include an HDMI cable without a dock) then I suspect the Switch would cost as little as $220. But they would want that nice round number so they would sell it for $250 of course!

Re: Review: Tennis (Switch eShop)

TheLobster

In 2018, you'd think they could at least make the best game with their own title. Nope! I'll play both the Atari 2600 or the NES games by the same name before I touch this turd. The aforementioned games are classics. This game should be forced to change its name.

Re: Game Developers Conference Survey Contains Positive Findings For Nintendo Switch

TheLobster

@Anti-Matter Remember that even if YOU don't like the Xbox and it doesn't have much presence in Indonesia (understandable as it doesn't really have much presence anywhere outside the US and Europe!), it's important that it exists and this culture of fanboyism is detrimental to the community. We should want ALL consoles to succeed because it means the industry is healthy. If Microsoft stops producing the Xbox (or Sony the Playstation brand or Nintendo the Switch), something has gone wrong in the industry that it can no longer support three competitors. And we ALL lose out because games will become even more samey and less risk taking than before. This is why it's important to be supportive of all three companies. You don't have to buy their products, but you have to understand that their competition is keeping the industry strong.

Re: NBA Playgrounds Ups Its Game With New Enhanced Edition Update

TheLobster

@Anti-Matter I'm not sure it's big enough to release physical, but maybe Limited Run Games can pick it up. Actually I agree with you; there's so few sports games on Switch that even though I don't play them I think it would be good to get them all on retail shelves to convince people (read: dudebros) to pick up the Switch. I'm not saying I'd play Madden if it came over but I used to work at Gamestop and the Madden launch was always one of the busiest days (along with CoD launch). Bringing Madden and CoD to Switch, even though I don't play them, would really go a long way in convincing a lot of people to pick up the system and would only be good for Nintendo. That is, if they are decent ports and arrive day and date. I know you don't play those games either but surely you agree the more people buying the Switch the better.
