Famitsu's Japanese chart figures are now in for the week ending 7th February, revealing that – yes – Momotaro Dentetsu is still top of the pile.
The railroad sim has sat in first place each and every week since it launched in mid-November, comfortably outselling Nintendo's evergreen titles as it dominates proceedings. If you'd like to learn more about it, make sure to check out our hands-on feature where we see what all the fuss is about.
Elsewhere, Ring Fit Adventure takes second place ahead of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, with Nintendo taking nine of the top ten in total.

That train just keeps rollin'.
88k Switches, the calm before the storm.
Another good week for the Switch.
Looks like the Switch cannot be stopped. With upcoming releases like Mario 3d world, Bravely Default 2, and Monster Hunter Rise, the Switch's Dominance in Japan will keep going and people who say it is a portable, and it is not in competition with the other systems. SORRY, it is a HYBRED. IT IS A HOME CONSOLE AS WELL. If fans wanted a dedicated portable, they would buy the switch lite, which is 100 dollars cheaper, and plays all switch games. but the switch lite is not the big seller is it? NO IT IS NOT. Gamers want a Home console that they can take on the go as well. So yeah, the switch is beating the competition by a mile in Japan, and it shows no sign of slowing down. GREAT JOB Nintendo, keep up the great work.
Is the Switch supply constrained?
88K obviously a great number but a quite a bit of a drop off from previous weeks.
Be interesting to see 3D World's performance next week, I imagine it will easily beat the original game's debut and take the no.1 spot.
@TheFullAndy They save units for SM3DW's launch. It's the calm before the storm.
@BTB20
Ah OK, I imagine they are stockpiling a lot for MH Rise as well.
@michellelynn0976 Calm down and ease off the internet.
Lol, last year I said Japan have got their Pokemon...and folk didn't believe me lol.
@Rob3008 No. I am fine.
The Momotaro and Ring Fit double act continue to roll through the opposition...Momotaro could hit 2.5m when all's said and done.
@TheFullAndy I think 3D World will do well, although mainline Mario games do seem to do a lot better in the rest of the world.
Curious to see Monster Hunter's numbers when it comes out, could it be a million seller in week one in Japan?
@Rob3008 I have a right to speak my mind, so do not tell me how to act.
@WiltonRoots
I think Rise could do well over a million week one, the hype is there for it and it is the first new portable MH game in years. That mixed with the Switch just being THE console right now in Japan I see it selling like crazy.
@TheFullAndy MHR is already above 400k preorders, so I think you could be right. Maybe around 1.2 million in the first 3 days.
@michellelynn0976
Good shout.
@michellelynn0976 Dang right you do. You keep right on being yourself, and don't let random strangers on the Internet steal your shine just for being a passionate fan with grounded opinions.
@burninmylight Thank you. I do not see why they want to control me and how I act. They can do them and I will do me.
@TheFullAndy No, it is not. Get over yourself. You started on me, I never replied to you. Look in the mirror. Grow up, and get over yourself. As long as you run your mouth on me. I will keep standing up to you. I will act how I want, believe what I want, and say what I want. If you don't like it, too bad. Unhinged troll.
@michellelynn0976
Thankfully I have realised the perfect way to deal with someone like you. Onto ignore you go.
Peace at last!
Ding dong the wingnut's gone!
@TheFullAndy Bye troll. Go try to control someone else.
Launch / LTD retail sales of all 3D Mario games:
> Super Mario 64: 162,111 / 1.647 million
> Super Mario Sunshine: 280,610 / 790,000
> Super Mario 64 DS: 120,062 / 1.232 million
> Super Mario Galaxy: 256,341 / 1.026 million
> Super Mario Galaxy 2: 337,569 / 1.047 million
> Super Mario 3D Land: 344,698 / 2.112 million
> Super Mario 3D World: 106,967 / 602,234
> Super Mario Odyssey: 512,625 / 2.120 million
> Super Mario 3D All-Stars: 210,136 / 551,663
> Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury: ???
Bowser's Fury launch sales should be 2× greater than that of the original Mario 3D World. Digital sales should be decent as well.
I am pretty curious to see how big of a bump the Nintendo Switch console sales will get once Monster Hunter Rise releases. I remember Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate being one of the main contributors to the Nintendo 3DS's early success and caused week after week massive sales for the handheld for a good while.
i really want momotaro dentetsu but in japanese store it's only in japanese language. well.....i'm playing billion road
@WiltonRoots Momotaro has already hit 2,5M days ago. With digital shipments included, that is. It's a 4M seller...
Wow Nioh 2: The have everything edition finally came out and made it to the top 10, it's too bad it isn't the PS5 version though. The Japanese still doesn't give a damn about ray tracing and fast load time.
@SuperCharlie78 Oh yeah I completely forgot about digital! Easily done...I'm wondering what Konami's last big seller in Japan was for a comparison.
@westman98 would you know?
@WiltonRoots
Momotaro Dentetsu has already sold like 2X more than the next best-selling Konami game in Japan (which I believe is one of the Yu-Gi-Oh games on GBA).
The game is selling at an absurd level.
@westman98
Wow I didn't know that.
Hopefully this marks Konami's return into gaming full time.
And with that, I believe it has outsold Breath of the Wild in the region! Quite a feat.
Maybe all Zelda games should be like Spirit Tracks but with Monopoly elements from now on.
I'm imagining Dance Dance Revolution A20+ on Nintendo Switch and it will be looks like this. 🤤🤤🤤

Just make it happen, Konami !
My body is absolutely ready for this.
Oof. Is Sony happy with those numbers? Hopefully PS5 owners get some games worth talking about soon.
