Following on from Capcom's announcement earlier this week, the second demo for Monster Hunter Rise is now live.
It's appropriately named "Monster Hunter Rise Demo Version 2" and adds a challenging "Advanced" quest where players can take on Magnamalo.
"Monster Hunter Rise - Demo Version 2 differs in some ways from the full game. Upon closing the software, all settings will be reset and only some data will remain. As this is a trial version, support will not be provided except for help with basic controls."
In addition to the new advanced quest, you'll also be able to enjoy the previous quests - the Great Izuchi (beginner) and Mizutsune (intermediate). Your quest count will also be reset to 30 turns.
If the existing demo is still installed on your Nintendo Switch, you should be able to update the application. The full game will arrive later this month on 26th March. Will you be taking on Magnamalo? Tell us in the comments down below.

Had a brief play around with the first demo just to get a bit of a feel of the new mechanics but I'll be getting the full game when it comes out in a couple of weeks anyway so I'm not going to bother downloading this one. Better off using the time between now and then to get through some of my other games.
going to be playing this tonight before crash 4 LETS GO,
Tried the last demo, and have to say I much prefer Dauntless to this - and Dauntless is free.
I bloody hate the monsters with projectiles. Hopefully the added manoeuvrability makes it easier to avoid them.
So does having save data from this 2nd demo give any bonuses when the full game launches? Or are benefits only tied to pre-orders?
@mlj11 This one has bonuses tied to it. But it’s just a “starter kit” - Demondrugs and whatnot to give ya a tiny boost starting out.
@Dm9982 Ah cool, thanks!
@mlj11 np! I wasn’t gonna download it until I saw that, then figured I could kill Iz one more time for giggles and grab my free stuff. I partly want to do the new hunt, but typically prefer to experience the new monsters solo.... mainly cause of learning patterns before suffering humiliation online. 🤣
I had fun sorta with the new monster, but it wasn't very exciting, I don't know maybe it wasn't crazy enough. I'm sure a different version of it in the future will be more fun. Anyone else enjoyed the fight?
I'm skipping the demo and going straight to the main course. Just hoping I'm actually into it!
From what I've played from the first demo, I may just wait for the PC release.
@Mr_Persona No, the weapons are pretty much the same as they were in MHW. However, MHW basically incorporated tons of the Hunting Styles from Generations into the basic movesets of the weapons, for example the sword and shield's jumping slash and the insect glaive's mid-air dodge. Personally I felt that World kept the best parts of most of the Styles, so I'm pretty psyched that not much has changed.
@TeslaChippie sorry l think you miss read of what l meant. thanks for trying to answer
Dope. Will download this and wait a few months for the physical version to drop in price on Amazon or something. It's gonna be great!!
Yahoo been waiting for this......
Not going to bother with the demo since I've already decided I'm getting the game day one. The previous demo did nothing to sway me from the decision, so I'll just wait.
@Mr_Persona No because that's exclusive to Gen, its common for each MH to have its own gimmicks so the Wirebug and Rampage mode will most likely be exclusive to Rise.
Eh, I'm done with the demo, I'll wait and fight this guy in the main game. If the other monsters were different or the map was different, then maybe. I also don't wanna deal with something that apparently one-shots you the entire time, so eh...
@Twinsen What did you like more about dauntless?
@Twinsen Dauntless is fun but it lacks the depth of MH and feels more like a "babies" first MH game, it being F2P also means it has all the issues what come from that.
Yeah I'm gonna have to skip this demo and wait for the full release. As I've stated in previous articles I've unfortunately way over saturated myself with anything Rise related and killed a lot of my excitement in the process. Gotta take a huge step back to rebuild some of it. I feel Capcom this time has really put a massive budget in the marketing for this game the likes I've not seen before.
@WallyWest Ah oh well l didn't know it was exclusive. I just thought it will be nice to change your whole move set you know. Valor was my favorite because l could ignore those monster roars without need earplugs xD Just be nice to have all that because it was fun and l'm sure many players didn't discover the experience. But either way thanks
@JustMe um l know all that l just needed a simple yes or no. But anyways, someone else already gave the answer. bye!
@Bliquid the way he answered was by explaining everything else part that made me lost and l just needed a yes or a no. I'm a fan of MH and l already know about armor skills and all that, only thing l didn't know is fighting style being in Rise or not which turned out to be exclusive to gen. I have something that makes things for me harder to understand, so that's another reason why l couldn't understand if my answer was there or not. Ik you wouldn't know that but just saying why l said that in last post.
i gonna skip this demo, i want to fight Magnamalo and defeat him, when i finaly play this amazing game in my birthday in early april.
@Mr_Persona You asked if MHR would have different fighting styles. The simple answer is no lol.
@TeslaChippie well l already know, thanks to another member. But don't look at me. thanks anyways
Ill have my revenge in few weeks. Just you wait magnamalo. The poundings u gave me will not be forgotten soon !
@LeonAlistair it is amazing how one stomp from him can be a one shot kill. But it was a demo, so you can't really get good armor for him which is sad. But l wish you luck when you fight him in the real game! Great sword might be good to use.
@Mr_Persona im actually planning to main switch axe or go full gunner (lbg and hbg) in the full game. And yeah i understand they intentionally make him super hard in the demo lol. Im sure i wont have this much struggle in the full game. See u in Kamura village fellow hunter
I'm holding out...two weeks to go guys....I'm waiting because spoiling the flagship monster makes it very less memorable (and damn I'd like to keep that excitement canned till I get to fight against it in game as it becomes a better adrenalin rush)
Good luck to those who are attempting it though! HAPPY HUNTING!
@Twinsen dauntless is ok, but it lacks depth to the mechanics and the creatures dont 'dance' with you as you challenge them. It's like Monster Hunter lite. It's still really good, but you definitely get your money's worth out of Monster Hunter (especially when the demos aren't geared towards new players, they never have been sadly)
@nessisonett we can already move rather fast in the game unlike previous entires. If you're having issues with a certain weapon it might be worth using a different one just for that fight.
@Mr_Persona Yeah the MH Community manager himself stated tht they intentionally overtuned magnamalo to give more challenging demo lol. I tried switch axe for the first time during this demo lol. Somehow it just clicked to me. I also love how mobile the hunter now being able to shoot while moving around. My last MH game was MHFU in psp so its been quite some time for me lol. Lots of improvement over the years its amazing. Ill add your switch friend code then. I hope we can play together sometimes. The name is Fran btw
Welp
I just got my *** handed to me from Magnamalo
