Nintendo has rolled out its second patch update for Mario Party Superstars, which made its debut on the Switch last October.
Version 1.1.1 contains both online and general fixes to improve the overall gameplay experience. Here's the full rundown of everything in this latest update, courtesy of Nintendo's official support page:
Ver. 1.1.1 (Released March 22, 2022)
- Online
- Fixed an issue in which the game cannot progress forward when viewing minigame rankings in the Data House.
- Made changes to a game feature where a session is immediately ended when pressing the B button while in the Village Square after joining players via the Friend House. A message will now be displayed asking if you would like to end the session.
- General
- Fixed an issue in which the minigame does not end when playing Ice-Rink Risk, Dizzy Dancing, Catch You Letter, or Cheep Cheep Chase.
- Fixed an issue in the Stick and Spin minigame in which the game’s movement gets slower as the high score gets raised and the game forcibly ends.
- Fixed other issues to improve the overall gameplay experience.
And in case you missed it, this was the launch patch:
Ver. 1.1.0 (Released October 29, 2021)
- General
- Fixed an issue in which the software forcibly ends when switching tabs in the encyclopedia while Urchin’s page is selected.
- Fixed other issues to improve the overall gameplay experience.

It's nice that they're still updating this game! I just really wish they would rebalance it slightly so that coins aren't so abundant. Just replace some of the lucky spaces with blue spaces and I would be fine, even.
But on the off chance that Mr. Miyamoto himself is reading my comment: Please add DLC to this game. I would buy it in a heartbeat. This game is absolutely excellent and it's the best Mario Party game I've played in over a decade.
Well can’t say I was expecting that today
Great game, but it could benefit from a few more boards.
This game is damaging potentially devastating to friendships when you're in the lead and then at the end your mate steals that win from you by winning enough bonus stars.
please Nintendo, new boards and characters as free DLC with patches! all I want is more boards, (hopefully one from Mario Party 6) and Pauline playable besides Toad. at least just Pauline and Toad and I'd be happy
"and more..." visible confusion
@RubyCarbuncle My friends and I were playing a few matches and the hard mode Donkey Kong cpu got all three bonus stars and won by having more coins, we've decided to start a Donkey Kong hate club.
@StarPoint Better: copy the original boards to the point. No lucky spaces. No improvements. Just an HD make-over. The maps for MP1 were b r u t a l.
Patches are nice, but this game is begging for DLC support in the form of additional boards, minigames, etc.. Given Nintendo's uneven track record on that front, however, I'm not holding my breath.
Where's the boards? Seriously this been needed to happen. Love it but damn 5 boards is laughable
Really hoping the game gets some actual DLC at some point. Love the game but the novelty's kind of worn out, even just having two or three more boards would help tremendously in keeping it fresh.
Yeah like everyone else is saying, more boards would be cool. At LEAST give one more from 3 to round things out between the N64 Mario Parties. The fact that this isn't already the case is just beyond silly, really.
Thankfully the best board, Yoshi's Tropical Island, is already available. 😉
I'm really just hoping this game gets DLC, they have so much great content to use from this series' past
They should add another 50 minigames and 5 new boards
that online poll about superstars dlc really convinces me it may actually be coming. its the same way we learned about warioware coming to switch
heck dlc could even be part of NSO expansion they love giving dlc benefits for now
Fixed an issue where there should be more boards….. ah one can dream 😂
Everyone's already beaten me to the comment about there not being enough boards... But yeah, after Smash Ultimate set the standard and Mario Kart 8 is finally catching up with DLC, it's definitely time for the latest Mario Party to hop on board and give us more of the old boards and characters. More is More!
Given that casuals are the likely audience for Mario Party do you think they would even know if there was DLC for this game? Wouldn't it make sense to just release a new game every year or so?
That way they see it on the shelf at Walmart.
Did they fix the issue where’s there’s not all the boxes in the penguin game?
@Osmium If Mario Kart 8 can get DLC after forever, I’m optimistic Mario Party Superstars will catch up sooner rather than later
Haven’t purchased Superstars yet because I’m not sure if there’s a way to turn off certain mini games (Tug of War). Was curious if this update addressed stuff like that.
@SwitchplayerJohn
Most people are connected online. They would most likely advertise the DLC on the main menu when you booted up the game.
@ItalianBaptist I don't think they have anything like that. But, they do have another feature where before you start a game, you can select from different categories/genres of minigames you want to see during the game, so it's close enough to what ur asking for.
Cool game, but lacking in content. This game should have had at least 10 boards to be worth 60 bucks.
I just want DLC for this game. it's so solid but it needs more boards
I'm still awaiting more boards in the previous game 😂
Haven't got the new one as I wanted to wait for the DLC that would be made available. Sounds like 5 boards isn't much either.
lets get 3 more fan fav boards from the gamecube era
@liljmoore I don't know about "laughable", Super Mario Party's 4 small boards was much worse. 5 large boards is only one off the series norm of 6, not quite enough to get me chortling.
1-10 had 6 each, except: Mario Party 1 had 2 postgame boards; MP5 had 7; MP10 had 5 (and 10 miniscule amiibo boards). Getting away from the numbered games we typically get less: Super Mario Party had 4; Advance was so weird and bad that I can't actually find a definitive count aside from a 2; DS had 5; Island Tour had 7; and Star Rush... well, that one had over 20 but they're mostly variations on the same board.
tl;dr 5 boards isn't laughable really
@fenlix No Mario Party has ever had more than 8 boards (aside from Star Rush's 20+ boring ones). Were all the other Mario Party games that only had 6 not worth the full price?
@SwitchplayerJohn Kirby Star Allies is absolutely Casual and full of DLC.
