If you've got the need for speed, you'll want to keep an eye out for the upcoming release Disney Speedstorm - a new free-to-play racer "coming soon" to the Nintendo Switch and multiple other platforms.
It promises to include a "legendary" roster" of characters and tracks inspired by the Disney and Pixar movies, and in the lead-up, developer Gameloft has been showing off the playable characters. The latest reveal is Baloo from the Jungle Book movie.
As previously, Disney Speedstorm will feature new seasons and new content to keep the experience fresh. There's also going to be cross-platform support, split-screen play and online multiplayer modes. Gameloft is also known for its work on Asphalt 9: Legends.
Will you be trying out this upcoming racer when it's eventually released? Tell us in the comments below.

I seem to recall there's a whole bunch of legal issues surrounding Baloo, considering the character originated from a late 19th century book, but they went ahead and made a spin-off cartoon series called Tale Spin featuring Baloo as the protagonist.
So this is a bit surprising to see.
Forgot about you worry’s and your strife(proceeds to throw this games version of a blue shell)
Uh, no.
I don't like free-2-play games (with micro transactions on it).
@RupeeClock Not really that many. Baloo's origin means that the character from Kipling's short stories is in the public domain, but Disney's figured out that while anyone can make their own derivative version of Baloo, what they can indeed still protect is their own specific visual depiction of the character. (Sort of like how other people can create a Winnie the Pooh story but don't draw him with the t-shirt like Disney did.) If anything, Tale Spin was a very savvy move because having him as a pilot is so different than anything from the source material, it really locked in ownership of their own, derivative creation.
I hope he flies an airplane like in Tail Spin!
Well he'll be easy to reskin into other characters.
Tailspin skin.
Little John Skin.
Y'all are talking about Baloo, and I am over here wondering if Disney was paying attention the s*** show that was Chocobo GP so they did not make the same mistakes.
It would probably have made more sense if it was Tailspins Balloo, seeing as he is a pilot, and therefore more adept at driving
This was the perfect oportunity to give him his Tale's Spin jacket and cap. Still, don't think I'll get it.
I recently quit Chocobo GP, I guess it wont hurt to sample this. Disney is meh, (Cartoon Network is better, I wished they made more f2p games) there is only a handful of characters I like and I don't think theyll add them in.
So this is another one with micro transactions like Chocobo gp?
@tka060681 Unlike Chocobo GP, this one has the courtesy to be free-to-play.
He better comes with a TaleSpin alt. costume. My Switch (but not my wallet) is ready for this game.
HAHAHAHA! Spin it!!! Ohohohohoh Let’s begin it! 🛩
Huh, I don't remember this game at all from any of the directs. Well seeing as it is "free" I guess I might as well check it out at least I do enjoy most kart racers.
Aww would have been cool if he was in a little Sea Duck. Was watching Tail Spin yesterday actually.
I would also prefer Tail Spin Baloo.
Another to add to the pile of kart racers that desperately wish they were Mario Kart.
Another failed attempt at making a Mario Kart clone.
You can tell it's another failure just by looking at the physics in the video.
@ATaco No one managed to clone Mario either.
"Rayman Legends" is probably the closest you get to Mario.
I can't believe 1000 developers last 30-40 years were unable to re-create Mario Kart and Mario.
How hard can it be?
Damn I almost forgot that Talespin was a Jungle Book spinoff cartoon, having Baloo in this game make sense. Would be nice if they had flying vehicles too cause that's what Baloo was specialize in.
@Ventilator What about Crash Bandicoot, both for platforming and kart racing? No one is going to recreate Mario 1:1 because then what is the point? Sonic All Star Racing and All Star Racing Transformed were also very good kart racers.
@Expa0 It was in the last direct. The only one we have had this year so far. Makes sense you missed it though because that direct had a LOT of very good announcements. This F2P Kart racer would easily be lost in the mix.
@HammerGalladeBro ya chocobo gp is also free, but most of the content are locked, I am sure this is also the same, also with bunch of micro transactions. They should just learn from Mario kart, make a great game and charge $59.99, and I don’t mind paying for dlc as long as the contents worth the asking price. I am anti micro transactions, great games don’t do micro transactions.
@Kiz3000 I ment the game mechanics. "Nintendo magic".
Crash Bandicoot isn't that great.
The only third party game i know of with "Nintendo magic" is Knockout City, besides lots of arcade games.
Nintendo hired that developer to make Mario Kart Live.
Don't be fooled this is a high quality mobile game which is also coming to Switch. Same with Star Wars Hunters, that also is a high quality mobile game.
These will be free to play and have aggressive monetization practices.
@Ventilator I take it you're not a fan of Crash Team Racing? Nitro Fueled is a fantastic Mario Kart clone. Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 (not the first one) is also really solid. It incorporates a "pit crew" system where you pick 3 character icons from various shows to assist you in battle. So, basically the Spirits from Smash Ultimate, except they're actually really fun in the context of a racing game. It just didn't work for a fighting game like Smash.
But will it be woke enough?
@Ventilator Actually the only kart racer that I felt ever actually beat Mario Kart were the gods of the N64 themselves, Rare, when they created Diddy Kong Racing.
Asphalt 9 was handled rather well for a free-to-play, so here's hoping they do the same with this one.
I agree with a lot of people here that Tail Spin's Baloo would be better. Maybe they'll provide a skin.
Here's hoping Darkwing Duck or Fat Cat is a racer.
I'll be checking this out for sure. Looks cool. I know it won't live up to Mario Kart but if it's even 75% as good it will be a fun play.
Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled is a fantastic kart racer. Just unlocking everything is a pain in the arse, if you weren't there from the start when they introduced the Grad Prix. But, I guess, then Activision couldn't bring in the microtransactions.
As for Baloo. Yeah, I agree, they really should have brought in his TailSpin counterpart. The weird thing is, Disney has this new Mirror Game, where Baloo is also a playable character, and in that one they used his TailSpin version.
didn't know this game was s thing. Maybe i'll try it
@ATaco You mean Nintendo, even if that game was made by Rare, it was still using the same engine as Mario Kart 64. Basically it's just Mario Kart 64 part 2 but under a different brand name, it was made cause Nintendo doesn't want to released two mainline Mario Kart games on the same system, a trend Nintendo still holds true today.
I might play it, after all my cat is named after baloo 😺
It's a gameloft game. That's all I need to know. They are gonna be hitting you up constantly for a few dollars more.
Why does Baloo look like a VTuber.
