Re: Best Nintendo Switch RPGs

Moero, Undertale and Earthlock have no place in this list, among others, for different reasons. Undertale is not even a traditional RPG by any definition.

They never tried to hide that the graphics are very simplistic and frankly I appreciate that, it does indeed look more like a 3DS game but that's just telling of its budget, we are not supposed to compare it to AAA games because it isn't one. It is also priced in a more budget price range. I liked the first Detective Pikachu, I will play this too.

Re: Nintendo Reportedly Showed 'Switch 2' Demos To Developers At Gamescom

Can't help but feel people are expecting too much and are going to be disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I am not completely discrediting the reports, but if you expect PS5 levels of power in a competitively priced portable system, you are out of your mind. The thing is, PS4 can still run most PS5 games just fine as long as they are built with scalability in mind. Switch 2 will have significantly more modern architecture than PS4 and potentially more modern than PS5 too, that by itself means that it might be able to pull off AAA visuals by dialing back some settings. But it obviously won't be reaching native quality levels of PS5, that is just impossible.

Re: Denuvo's 'Switch Emulator Protection' Is Now Available Via Nintendo's Official Dev Portal

@Wexter Unfortunately, it is a necessary "evil" because piracy on Switch is out of control. Many companies opt to eventually get rid of it on software that has run its course, but many games on Nintendo platforms have serious legs, and I can see Nintendo themselves adopting it. Honestly, I'm fine with it as long as the developers know how to use it properly.

Obviously, I'm all for preservation, but not in the expense of projects making less than they should. Some people think that all the companies and projects make billions, this is not the case, some barely break even and then people complain that they are releasing another sequel or remake. One of the reasons many companies decided to switch to online and live service games is exactly that they are unpirateable.

TL;DR: People should stop complaining about things they don't understand and BUY good games. Zero sympathy for pirates. If you can't afford games, there are like a million free to play games and many of them are great.

Re: Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster Confirmed For Nintendo Switch

Switch_Pro

Really cool to see this game on consoles, I played it back in the day and my mind was blown. I still prefer the sequel (Jedi Outcast) but for its time Dark Forces was phenomenal.

The only sad part is that I am no longer into Star Wars after the absolute disastrous handling of the IP by Disney, but hopefully I can pretend that never happened and enjoy some nostalgia with this.

Re: Denuvo's 'Switch Emulator Protection' Is Now Available Via Nintendo's Official Dev Portal

This is wonderful news for developers who are working on games for Nintendo's platforms (mainly Switch 2 given the timing). It's absolutely ridiculous that pirates get to play (and spoil) games long before paying customers have access to them, and there are no repercussions of any sort most of the time.

Denuvo does not affect performance if it's implemented correctly. Some developers have been lazy or clueless about its implementation in the past and have used it incorrectly, this is not the middleware's fault. Of course everyone wants to have an opinion despite not understanding anything about it.

Also, it goes without saying that so called "boycotts" will do absolutely nothing, and you won't boycott anything anyway, it's just an empty threat. Nobody will ever take gamer boycotts seriously. Software sales have absolutely skyrocketed since more companies adopted anti piracy measures. They are not dumb, it works.

Re: The Next Xenoblade Will Be "Vastly Different" Says Monolith Soft Director

@LilyGoMEOW I liked the orb stacking system in 2, 1 was a bit all over the place, each character was vastly different, so there's variety there. 3 was not my favourite, it played better than the other two but was maybe a bit TOO streamlined. Also, not gonna lie, a bit too many party members in 3, I would like the next game to stick to 3. I like all three though.

Re: Memory Pak: Making Contact With The "Ungoogleable" Game I Couldn't Quite Remember

Switch_Pro

Literally played Contact a few months ago, and had played it back in the day as well on DS. It wasn't particularly popular or anything but it wasn't completely under the radar either. As far as DS games go, there are much more obscure ones. Personally, I've been trying to find Again to buy for my collection because I own all other Cing games but I can't find it anywhere. That game had an incredibly limited print.

Re: Red Dead Redemption's Estimated File Size Revealed On The Switch eShop

@Sisilly_G Mine was a 386. If I remember correctly, right before I "inherited" this PC, it had 4MB RAM which was upgraded to a whopping 8MB to better run Windows 3.1. It came with some DOS games such as Oscar, Genie, which I just found by accident in the command line, I have no idea who installed them or why. I still have this computer, I need to dig it up one day for old time's sake.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Graphics - The Most Beautiful Switch Games

Switch_Pro

@BrintaPap It's just quite difficult when it comes to more subjective stuff, really. For instance, I think nobody would disagree that Luigi's Mansion or Link's Awakening looks technically very good, but when it comes to Gris, some people won't vibe with it. On the other hand, Baldo does look good when it looks good, but it's also inconsistent.

Re: Best Pikmin Games

There is no bad Pikmin game. All are great fun. Haven't played Hey! Yet, but for what it is it's probably fine, just a spin-off.

Re: Kickstarter Is Cracking Down On AI And Promoting Human Creativity

Switch_Pro

@Dr_Lugae That argument doesn't make sense. What about creating all the actual mechanics, and putting it all together? You know, basically everything that makes a game a game. Art is only one of the many things required to complete a game.

Not to say that I am supportive of AI art, though, quite the contrary, if we could shut down every AI project in the world outside medicine, I would be all for it.
