This was definitely my favourite reveal from the recent Direct, I haven't played this Trails arc yet, so very much looking forward to play the remake.

It was a lovely remake.

Engage had much better gameplay, I feel Three Houses was a little too long for its own good, I wish I could play the other character routes but I simply don't have that time to invest on a single game. Still, both were great games.

My disappointment is measurable (0) and my day is not ruined. Couldn't be happier, I never saw this coming! I really hope this leads to a physical release of the first two titles.

On one hand, I definitely think they should credit everyone that worked on it, on the other hand, it seems they are very transparent that contractors won't be credited, so you are working on the project with the knowledge that you won't be credited and at that point choosing to be involved is on you.

I support Nintendo 100% on this. It's their intellectual property and they can manage it in any way they want. If something doesn't fall under fair use laws, they can take it down.

You can always create your own IP, there's no reason to use Nintendo characters. Obviously then your project would have to live on its own merits, and not get free clout for using Mario and Link.

Definitely ordering a physical copy of this one now that it's finally released in the west.

I disagree, Perfect Dark is better than Golden Eye in every conceivable way.

Kind of a strange decision to go all-in on a strategy RPG game, they are very niche, and frankly just by looking at it, it did not immediately grab me. I will buy it and I have faith in them delivering a good game, but I just don't see it selling well...

Ace Attorney Investigations and the new "2D" Zelda alone are enough for me, let alone all the other amazing stuff they showed. I have played both AAI games but the fan translation of the second game was atrocious, I can't wait to play it with proper professional localization and also add it to my physical collection.

Early(ish) Switch 2 title for sure.

Got bored of Gris and this looks more of the same. Really lacked substance for me. Beautiful but ultimately pointless.

Turns out most gamers like awesome, attractive characters, not people that look like them, and not the slop the AAA industry has been serving. Shocking innit?

Nuances are always lost in this kind of "conversation". People just pick a side based on emotional response alone. For instance, modding your own game and distributing a mod of a game is not the same thing. Legal emulation and illegally bypassing hardware protection is also not the same thing.

Shame that since Disney took over not only are the movie and TV offerings subpar, but also we have a lot fewer games. They went very hard on the mobile trend and mostly neglected consoles. EA did nothing worthwhile with the exclusive license. Jedi Survivor series is decent but not as good as Jedi Knight. Outlaws does not look too exciting either. Shame.

They were right to be hesitant, making a big deal out of a spin off might rub people the wrong way and dilute a brand.

Personally, I am not a big fan of these games, they are decent but they don't do anything that hasn't been done better before in other similar titles such as XCOM.

Which is why I was surprised that it got a sequel, but not surprised that the sequel sold horribly (despite being significantly better!).

This is excellent news for future remakes and remasters of other forgotten gems.

When the latest live service trash costs $70 and dies within a month of release, Nintendo could ask for $100 and even that would be a steal.

It's pricey, but it does have a lot of pieces and they answered my prayers by including both OoT and BotW versions in the same set instead of going just with the most current thing. 10p per piece is fairly standard for licensed Lego. I will wait for a price drop but definitely getting it.

I'm definitely more hopeful about DQ12 than anything FF related. DQ has always been good, FF has lost its way big time. I am slightly worried about it being real time, keeping it turn based would not only mean we still have a big budget turn based game in an industry where they are all but extinct, but would also keep the budget in check. Real time combat is a lot more difficult to get right than turn based and it creates a lot more complications, especially in context of an RPG. What you gain in direct player agency, you might have to lose in other aspects because most things that work in turn based do not work in real time.

It's a great game but a terrible Resident Evil. Just too over the top for me. Still was great fun though.

Awesome, I really enjoyed the first movie, for what it was. Plus, now that Disney movies are no longer suitable for children, someone has to take their place and nobody is better poised for that than Nintendo.

Nintendo is the only console manufacturer worth supporting at this stage.

@Coalescence Octopath Traveller 2 is genuinely one of the best JRPGs ever made.

Scared about the future for what reason? The western (primarily) gaming industry simply overextended unreasonably. Some eastern studios decided to chase the trend for no good reason. Nintendo has been keeping budgets in check and playing to their strengths and they keep on winning. All the other companies have to do is follow Nintendo's paradigm and stop having illusions of grandeur.

Would probably check it out if Disney hadn't killed my enjoyment of the Star Wars IP.

Gameboy is still one of the best consoles of all time, the amount of games it had is simply insane.

I am tired of companies using Tolkien's legacy in vain for free marketing points. This has nothing to do with Lord of the Rings.

Another series that was ruined by the megalomanism of some narcissistic writers that think they can do a better job writing the Witcher than the person that invented the IP. It has been happening a lot lately particularly in the TV and movie space, and the audience response has been swift and absolute in every single instance. Apathy and abandonment.

@LadyCharlie Except if the people that decided to remove these images were able to press a button and also delete them from the face of the internet, they would. That's what revisionists do, they don't stop until every trace is gone.

The thing is, everyone agrees that this change doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but it's more about the principle behind it. People who say "why do you care", are in fact they should be the ones answering that very same question. Why do they care so much about something so insignificant that they have to change it? I mean, we all know why, but they think we don't.

@tangeraniumm That is also true. There are pros and cons. I personally stick to ethical emulation, i.e. games that I cannot possibly access in any other way, OR, I buy the game first and then emulate it if I want the convenience.

Emulators being illegal would open a massive opportunity for smaller publishers to pick up old games and create a niche within the gaming market with quality emulation of forgotten titles and even lower budget remakes. As long as emulation remains legal and easily accessible, this type of market cannot exist as a viable business.

I think it's still my favourite Vanillaware game. All of their games are high art but there's just something about this one and its theme deeply tied to Japanese folklore that literally nobody else could do better.

@Woderwick Mario is absolutely massive in UK, much bigger than Lara of course. If the results are not straight up cooked up, just shows that the demographic was incredibly limited if nothing else.

The results are just whatever BAFTA wanted them to be.
I could absolutely see Pikachu being higher than Mario, and he is lower than Suckboy, lol.
Also, sorry, no disrespect to BG3 (great game), but a game that came out less than a year ago should not be in an iconic character game list.

This was a lot better than expected. I expected literally nothing and we got a gorgeous looking Pokemon TGC Pocket and Pokemon Legends 2. The future is looking bright.

Probably builds off of what they did for Yoshi then. I'm definitely going to play this game.

It's impressive how similar to the CD-i games it looks and feels, plus the whole arabesque vibe of the protagonist is more fitting than Zelda and Link. Only problem is, those games sucked, so this being a homage to games them likely dooms it to be a bit of a punchline at best.
