Re: Round Up: Move Over Mario, The Critics Love Luigi's Mansion 3

True, it might never happen. Btw 2.5 years! I guess there will be another nintendo selects run.
The thing is, I buy my games according to priorities as I can't play them all and my backlog has grown to such an extent that I doubt I will be able to play it all, lol. Last month I got myself ni no kuni, links awakening and dq11. Still playing dq11 and havent even unpacked the other two. In the meantime they had a sale on etrian nexus on the german amazon, also bought dillons deadheat and sushi striker for cheap to get free shipping. Backlog growing. Still playing dq11 as we speak, lol. So yeah, I think I will wait a while to get Luigi.

They should have tested the game during development. I bought it for very cheap a year after it came out and I can say it's not worth the original retail price. Some games are just doomed for the bargain bin because everyone buys the best games first. Today I ordered etrian nexus from amazon germany and in order to get free delivery I bough dillon and sushi striker, would have never bought them day one.

Re: New Study Says External Issues Are More Likely To Blame For Gaming Addiction, Not Gaming Itself

@Belatarr
Don't get me wrong. But you try to make a connection between profit or the lack thereof and addiction. Thats not really the point imo.

Lets take drugs for example, generally they kill you or just ruin your life, pretty bad. But lots of artists, musicians, song writers, etc. have done drugs and made quite a profit or at least created some beautiful things. Probably a small percentage of drug users, lol, but that doesn't make their drug addiction better, or less addiction than those who didn't make it big. Addiction is addiction.
Gaming might have less positive side effects. ALTHOUGH I believe that my driving skills, which are relatively good if I say so myself, might have been sharpened through gaming. Or rather my mind in regard to reactions and situational assessment or something like that. I usually just take a small glimpse and see a picture of whats possible with my car and what not. Might seem dangerous to other people, though.

@Belatarr
You can be addicted to a boy/girlfriend for example. I agree the friends thing was a little farfetched but still likely.
The thing is: addiction is connected with habit formation and repetition. While certain things might not be called addiction per se, they still can be or become one.

Gaming addiction can be very versatile.
Let me share an example: I used to game a lot in the past. Since I didn't own a fast internet connection it was mostly single player. Games with a beginning and end. During my studies we had a presentation about gaming addiction (some 13 years back). The guy who held this presentation was addicted to ultima online. I wasn't aware of things as chinese farmers and other stuff. Guy said, he could spend like 14h a day playing it. Sometimes he just played 5-6h due to constraints and was frowned upon by other players. And that was his thing, being constantly in touch with other real people, although in the virtual world. He didn't care about the games I played at all. He was a smart guy btw.
Some games are plainly designed to get you hooked. They blatantly take advantage of your weaknesses or life situations. Like gacha games for example. Ever seen a report on jap gacha gamers who spend fortunes on a pixel char? Thats stuff an unrelated person can't relate to (didnt wanna use the term "normal person", lol)

@Octane

Or punish a game for (almost) no story at all/s.

A separate rating for ports in regard to performance in direct comparison to more powerful consoles wouldn't be a bad thing. I mean this solely from a technical point.

Witcher 3 has an overall rating of 9/10 or 90% on ps4/xbox. Are we getting the very same experience? No! Are we getting the very same game? Yes?

Re: Mario Kart Tour's Diddy Kong Pack Costs £39, The Same Price As Mario Kart 8 Deluxe On Switch

@Moroboshi876

It isn't mandatory. What is your point?

There are so many things in life that aren't mandatory. Doesn't make them good. Like child endangerment for example.

Look, I don't know about people complaining about having to pay for smr but I don't believe nintendo changed its monetization because of it. It was clearly planned this way. I

I say it again, it's a form of monetization that preys on the weak and vulnerable and somewhat tarnishes nintendo's image imo.

And as you said it's not mandatory, I didn't even try this game, what for?

Re: Mario Kart Tour's Diddy Kong Pack Costs £39, The Same Price As Mario Kart 8 Deluxe On Switch

SuperEndriu

@Moroboshi876

Tbh you seem to be a little bit naive. Mario run had nothing to do with the monetization of games like feh or mario kart, despite it being mentioned somewhere.

Nintendo didn't invent the predatory gacha system but they have fully embraced it. They didn't have to follow suit but they did.

You have to know, gacha games prey on the weak and vulnerable. People who for whatever reason feel spending tons if money on a single game (which they actually never own) makes them happy.

Thats all there is to it. It's a topic as old as gacha games themselves.

The thing is, in regard to feh, a lot of people would buy orbs if they were reasonably priced, like 10% of the actual price. I would.
But nintendo and other game companies arent out for occasional spenders, they are out for those who are willing to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on a waifu or husbando.

Tell me, isn't it sad when you think about it?

Re: Nintendo Banked $348 Million In Mobile Revenue Last Year

SuperEndriu

@Heavyarms55

agreed, it endangers real gaming. Companies realize they can make easier profit with a simple and repetitive game that is f2p on the outside and p2w on the inside. You can literally spend hundreds of not thousands of dollars and still not get the pixel character of your choice. and people will till praise cygames for its generosity. Furthermore it definitely facilitates gambling. These games are labelled as 13+. Of course, parents are responsible for their kids, but lets be real here. Gacha games are predatory and it saddens me that Nintendo has become part of it.
