@Friendly For Journey, I doubt it's coming to Nintendo anytime soon since Sony owns the rights to the game. The developer, ThatGameCompany, has released the sequel/spiritual successor on the Switch 1 though so it might come to Switch 2.
I've spoken to some of TGC's staff though and I don't think they have a Switch 2 devkit (or didn't have one since the last time I asked them).
I heavily considered getting Labo years back, but I had a cat who would probably very much like to use it for the wrong ways, so I decided against getting it. It always looked fun, but the novelty was garunteed to wear off rather fast. Guess I was right
Just Splatoon Raiders for now. Tomodachi Life would be on the list too, but it's a Switch game. I never had much affinity for Fire Emblem, Yoshi or Mario Tennis, and Mario Wonder is a maybe for me. I need to know if you can play with randoms
Does that make Apex Legends the first game to drop Switch support for Switch 2 instead? I wonder which games will be next? I bet it won't be Minecraft or Fortnite since they're very popular on Switch and Minecraft in particular can run on almost anything nowadays
I was waiting for the Switch 2 Edition of Stardew Valley to release here in the UK... but then I realised I didn't have to. I added a Nintendo account with a US region and downloaded the Switch 2 Editon there. Can't believe I only thought of that now.
Aaaand the mouse controls are right handed only.... is it hard to make it left handed compatible? I don't get it
I bought game vouchers back in November. The first was for Prime 4, which I regret getting digitally since I want to sell it now and I doubt I'll replay it anytime soon. The second was supposed to be for this game, and unless something even more exciting for Switch 1 gets announced in the next direct, I'll certainly be using it for Tomodachi Life. This is the type of game I think works best digitally- open it up to check up on your Miis. Stay for a while, or not.
I'm really looking forward to some Mii shananigans!
@Kiz3000 I bet we'll see a general Direct sometime in February. That's normally when they do these things. I'm sure they'll want to announce some more proper system sellers soon
I've been glued to this game since this port released a few days prior. It's excellent! The game looks detailed and runs at a solid 30fps. This is my first time playing FF (minus the demo) and the game's combat system is really engaging.
It gives me a very good feeling about Xenoblade's and Zelda'a Switch 2 debuts sometime in the future, if this is the quality of games we're getting. Bravo, Square!
Currently I'm on the fence. I was really hoping for more single player content, but the multiplayer content they've announced here genuinely looks meaty. One of my favourite parts of the original game was that you could meet randoms online and work together- if these modes allow me to play with randoms and not just friends, I might go for it.
Almost none of my friends have a Switch 2 rn and my Switch playing friends are all online, so if it's friends only, it would be a waste of money for me.
I will give Nintendo credit here though: I like the content offered this time.... just please stop making the names so long. This new version's is litterally triple the length of the original game's title!
The more I see and hear about this game the more I feel justified in pre-ordering it. I'm really looking forward to playing this tomorrow since this'll be my first Final Fantasy game!
@DennisReynolds Out of all the 1st party Switch games yet to recieve an update, I think the Xenoblades need it the most. They all suffer from some really low resolutions (except X, but 60fps is litterally supported in the code of that one)
I'm holding off from playing any of the games until they get patched
I've been left with a Metroidvania itch after Silksong blew me and everyone else away. The Hollow Knight Randomizer scratched it, Animal Well scratched it in a very interesting way, Metroid Prime 4... didn't scratch it, ironically. I'm totally willing to give Mio a try to see if it scratches the itch
@AlanShore I went into the museum on the Switch 2 Edition, and I'm convinced this is not 4K. A ton of Ailiasing everywhere on screen which Splatoon 3, a game that actually seems to render at 4K, lacks.
The mouse controls are disabled on the left joycon so I can't really use them and the megaphone barely works. I'm with you on the feeling of being scammed
For third party controllers, the deciding factor for me is normally if HD rumble is done right. I can't go back to regular rumble so if a controller has normal rumble (or no rumble at all), it's at a big disadvantage in my book.
60fps would have been real nice and I would have preferred it to 4K, but what we got is really pretty, especially in Handheld Mode.
The mouse controls really bring it down for me since they're right handed only, and the Switch 2 doesn't currently have the option to switch mouse input between the left and right Joycon in accessiblity settings (you can do this with the joysticks). I'm left handed and using mouse controls with my right hand is uncomfortable.
If they fix this my score will bump up a bit, but right now I can't give it higher than a 5 for these accessiblty woes.
The 4K resolution is nice, I don't care much for the megaphone or the 12 player lobbies, but I was looking forward to using the mouse controls. Too bad it's locked to the right Joycon.
I'm left handed and using the right controller is uncomfortable for me. Why include a mouse sensor in the left Joycon if you're not going to use it, Nintendo?
I had the same problem with Prime 4. The mouse controls are fast and responses, but if you're left handed the mouse controls are non existant! I can use them on the home screen, on webpages, and on the welcome tour. Why not here!?
I expected Solo to win like they did last time, but Family got 0 points!? I picked Family to be consistent with what I picked last time. Maybe I should have reconsidered...
I think there is absolutely zero chance of Ultra Smash returning. From what I've heard, it's just a worse version of Mario Tennis Aces which is already on the Switch.
Tri-Force Heros on the other hand, could do with a second chance. I think it could work well as a side game in a new 2D Zelda, and it would be more accessible thanks to GameShare and GameChat. That game is only fun when you're together, and could really promote those services' strengths
Age of Imprisonment was certainly a good game and felt like it respected the story, but am I the only one who feels like this game feels a bit unnecessary? I feel like they could have collaborated to warriorify another series (Xenoblade, perhaps?) rather than doing Hyrule Warriros for the 3rd time. (5th if you count the ports of the original game)
...now I'm imagining a Pikmin warriros game where you play as the enemies and destroy hundreds of Pikmin
@Araquanid You hit the nail on the head. I think the game would be twice as good if they removed Sol Valley. It would flow so much more nicely and I'd much prefer to find Sol Valley's content inside the actual levels.
I actually quite like Myles. The only real gripe I have is more a game issue and less a Myles issue in that he forcably radios you CONSTANTLY to remind you of things and give you hints. I want to be able to figure these things out myself. Again, not a Myles issue. I found his optional dialouge charming!
I find it really interesting how drastically different each person's thoughts are about the same list of games.
My take is that I'm not bursting with excitement at the lineup, but I'm very much willing to give them the benefit of the doubt since 1, the console is still only half a year old and it takes time to build a stong library, and 2, I believe Nintendo knows what they're doing and are playing the long game here. The more they reveal now they less they can reveal later, and taking their time allows the console to gain traction steadily. 2025 was good and I'm confident this year will be too.
@Bolt_Strike I really want to see the OG games show up on NSO (if not now then when?), but I get the feeling TPC will try to monetize them further in some way. They were more expensive than the other gameboy games back in 3DS Virtual console days.
That being said, I'd welcome a reasonably priced standalone release of the classic games since it mean people don't need NSO to play. Emphasis on REASONABLY priced.
I wonder why they decided not to use 60fps in Animal Crossing's Switch 2 Edition. I'm looking forward to the 4K and QOL features though, New Horizons is already a very pretty game.
I wasn't too fond of the September 2025 Direct so I'm feeling hopeful for the next one (likely in February). Might get some Splatoon Raiders or Monster Hunter news, and I really want to play Tomodachi Life
Wilds is fun, but it's still pretty poorly optimized. I'm not sure if the Switch 2 could handle the game in it's current state, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
What I really want to see is Switch 2 versions of Rise and Worlds. Rise is so nice at 60fps and I'm sure Worlds would run nicely with DLSS
@obijuankanoobie The Switch version has a bit more content, and an easy and hard mode. But if you can find the Wii U version out in the wild it'll be a lot cheaper, so if your concern is price then it wouldn't hurt looking for it
@obijuankanoobie There are free demos of Pikmin 3 Deluxe and Pikmin 4 on the Switch. Give those a try so you can get the hang of the games. You'll have a good time if you can get into the flow
@Dev-N I have a feeling (and I really hope I'm right) that Splatoon Raiders will be a 2026 game. Nintendo released a calender for 2026 that includes Mario Tennis Mario, A Mario Wonder Pihrana Plant and characters Tomodachi and Rythem Heaven (Paradise), 2026 releases. A yellow Inkling was also on the calender which could indicate Splatoon will see a release next year.
Not the strongest evidence, especially since the Splatoon art they use is from 3 and not Raiders, I just find it interesting.
I appreciate that Nintendo seems to value their games. Do I think BOTW from 8 years ago should still be $70 (here in the UK it's the same price as TOTK. Smash Ultimate is also $70)? No, but I at least agree with the idea that games should retain at least some of their value over time, so long as they hold up today, which most modern Nintendo games do.
If it were me, prices of new games would go down by £10 to £15 after a few years, so Mario Odyssey would sell for £35 instead of £50. Or like someone has already mentioned, do Nintendo Selects again. I'm hopeful that Nintendo has been saving them to introduce them this generation for old Switch 1 games that need a push.
@OldGamer999 I'm most looking forward to the next Xenoblade, though it probably won't be until 2027. Monolithsoft are known for pushing hardware pretty hard to make impressesive games, and given how good games like FF7 and Star Wars look on the console, I have big expectations for them.
I tried No Man's Sky a few months back on Switch 2, and while it ran fine, there were quite a few crashes happening. I stopped playing until the crashes are ironed out. Does anyone know if that's happened yet?
This port gets an A+ from me. The game felt and and looked great to play in docked and handheld mode. 30fps isn't that big of a downside here since I don't feel I need lighting fast responses so this is how I'm going to play the game for the first time and it only served to validate my decision to pre-order. Helps that the demo is so small in size so as many people as possible can download it.
This game is making me wonder how pretty the next Xenoblade game will be on Switch 2, given how much Minolithsoft likes to push the hardware they're given to make great games.

This game really seems like the Switch 1's send off game. Been here since the beginning and is now the last 1st party release in the Switch 1's last year of relevancy. I want to see how far they've pushed the console to make this game stand out
@Gabe250 I've seen that sentiment going around among some people, which I think makes sense since while 2025 had a lot of games, not all of them will necessarily appeal to everyone.
@KayFiOS Not counting Switch 2 Editions, I count 5 first party games this year since June: MarioKart, Donkey Kong, DragXDrive, Hyrule Warriors and Kirby AirRiders. Then there are the Switch 2 editions like Metriod, Kirby Forgotton Land, Mario Party and the Zeldas. (And ZA I guess).
The schedule of releases was a little wobbly considering the drought in September, but there was no lack of games this year, especially considering we started halfway through the year in June.
